Most of us seem to agree that the Dreamcast was the last true “retro” console. Pic related was also the last major game released on the system. Therefore, it can be argued that SA2 marked the end of the classic era of gaming.
This makes the ending of the game all the more somber for me. Since Shadow came back (dumb decision btw) I associate the music that plays during the credits not with his death, but the death of the Golden Age of gaming. Am I the only one who thinks this?

nah frick the memecast
Here’s the music I’m talking about:
For me, that's the farewell for the golden days of Sonic and SEGA.
Sonic Adventure 2 is the peak of video games and everything went downhill from there.
Same.
sonic adventure 2 isn't even the peak of sonic adventure
>death of a golden age of gaming
GC, PS2, Xbox were all WAY better than Dreamcast lmao! We need a death to this thread
Back to Ganker with you
The Atari 2600 was the last real retro console though.
Sonic sucks. Sega sucks. Interesting proposal though.
the adventure games are all moronic animu garbage
The final retro game...
In all my childhood of the late 90s and 2000s I never seen a fricking Dreamcast irl, and never noticed it was semi popular when I started getting on the computer. Really funny I think I only seen a dream cast once at some dump garage sale, it's definitely the ugliest last retro console.
Is that supposed to be a liminal space
I know why SH3 was set in a closed mall. For some reason, as the actual quintessential millenial (I was 18 in 2001) I found closed malls comfy. SH3 is comfy in that regard, as was dead rising 1 and 2.
Are dead rising game retro? I forget how old they are. Sucking Inafune called for sequel after sequel of DR and LP when everyone, literally everyone, wanted a new Dash. It's like Shemue but to Crapcom.
It came with a modem lmao
It was the last console to release in the 90s though
the 90's ended when george bush invaded iraq...
SA1 has DLC
My opinion differs from yours a bit, probably because I'm younger than you. I feel like the GameCube, PS2 and Xbox were the last retro consoles. In that era gamers were still only starting to go online from consoles and it was pretty limited. Most people didn't play online yet. It was the introduction of the Xbox 360 and parties filled with squeelers and angsty teens yelling obscenities that kicked off the current era of gaming in my opinion.
I think the Dreamcast was more of a warning call of what was the come, and the Xbox cemented that future with the introduction of Xbox Live.
In a sense, I feel like a small piece of the retro gaming spirit still exist through Nintendo because they have a focus on single player experiences and local multiplayer and don't have much interest in online.
>Star Fox isn’t retro
Imagine being this dumbass
