MUH DENUVO

>IT TANKS MUH FRAMERATES!!!1

I've watched a bunch of videos on the subject, and at most the framerate suffers 00.01% with Denuvo still in the game. So a game running around 120 FPS game MIGHT dip down to 119FPS... wow that's so much bro.

DD2 is not pajeet-core, capcom still uses their own engine and they aren't stopping any time soon, at best you could argue that this is the first open game in RE engine but still, it's the one time that it will be worth waiting for reviews to see how it runs

nah, only the insane high settings (which you would never get on consoles) are hard to get, if you play on console resolutions/settings you will mog the shit out of them with better framerates and custom settings

Capcom games tend to run worse on consoles than on console-equivalent PCs these days. They are a PC-first company now and it shows.
Like, see how RE4R runs on the console-equivalent 6700XT, and then compare it to how it runs on PS5 and Series X. At least at launch, now idea if they improved the console version since then.

      Same.
There's the added plus of owning a physical version of it, if I buy it on PS5.
Also, Capcom tends to eventually remove denuvo and their games go on sale often so buying the PC version later really isn't an issue.

if you're running well above the recommended specs, Denuvo will not tank your framerate in any significant manner.
However, if you're running at or below the recommended specs, then Denuvo will have a more pronounced effect on the maximum framerate.

It's had some weird issues with various hardware over the years. With the original Lords of the Fallen for me it would bounce from running at 100fps+ for 5-10 minutes to running at 0.1fps for 30s, cracked version ran perfectly.

That doesn't make any sense. A performance hit is still a performance hit. No matter if the hit is from 100 fps to 90 or 50 to 45. Unless of course you lock the game to 60 then it will not go anywhere if you have overhead.

I think there was some image floating around about the TGS demo, it showed buyable art of metamorphosis with RC, just like the original, I guess you'd get a freebie with the deluxe edition, but that seems worthless since it's buyable with RC anyway, actually, all those items look worthless and easily obtainable in-game anyway, except the music & sound pack, which should be an unlockable thing... But Capcom is Capcom...

        Anonymous

RC rather than Gold? That's kind of a pain. Seems like they're going to make RC a semi-premium currency more than they did in the first game.

I am curious if the deluxe and preorder items will be unique or obtainable later. I assume they'll be unique but weak, so I may skip it.

I forget, I thought you could change appearance at a stylist or something. I was pretty happy with my original character look so I didn't try. Was that a separate item maybe before the Dark Arisen version? I only really played that version.

              >I forget, I thought you could change appearance at a stylist or something.
Oh yeah, in DD1 you could change some things that way, like hair style, eye color and yeah, that did cost gold, I'm hoping that still costs gold, but I didn't see any footage of it from the TGS demo, the Art of Metamorphosis item is the one that lets you change everything from your arisen and pawn.
              >Was that a separate item maybe before the Dark Arisen version? I only really played that version.
I only played the DA version too, it was always there at the encampment in the beginning, where you could buy elixirs, also for RC.

DD1 had those in the RC store. Wouldn't put it past capcom to make RC buyable again like they did in 360/PS3 DD:DA.

Can we just admit all denuvo haters are just pirates? Your screams of MUH DRM make no sense when you are allegedly going to purchase the game on the KING of DRM, Steam.

      Anonymous

And what is the downside of a game requiring Steam, exactly? I don't need an internet connection to play anything I own and I can download my games on on any PC I want as many times as I want, I have access to mods that work with a click of the button, easy management of DLC, I can share literally my entire library with any of my friends just by sending them a QR code once, the in-game overlay has guides and achievements and a web browser...
What does Denovo offer me, if you're willing to pretend the performance hits don't exist? An increase in price-tag because devs have to pay out of their ass to get access to it? Wow, fricking amazing.

It's steam's fault that denuvo is even allowed. If they didn't allow it on their store then publishers and developers would be forced to remove it. Because steam enables them to add on as much draconian DRM as they like, we not only have to deal with the worst DRM in history but also are seeing increasingly absurd storage space requirements for games now.

I'm singling out steam because the gullible believe that they "saved PC gaming" and so they will be the brunt of criticism here. It and any other platform that allows denuvo is enabling the behavior. And before you try to suggest that none of the stores have any power or say in the matter, GOG was persuaded to remove HITMAN from their store due to the negative feedback from the customers. Sadly with how much wienersuckers there are on steam and off it, things will just get increasingly worse as they are at this rate.

What makes man fall so low that he starts to defend corporations and their stupid, anti-consumer decisions?

Daily reminder that Denuvo was made by same guys who did infamous Sony rootkit DRM, that previous invasive anti-piracy measures like Starforce or SecuROM are now blocked in Windows due to massive security vulnerability (but OP and the like are too young to remember that), that it prevents offline play and leave files in system after game is uninstalled.

Denuvo is pure blight upon players and you are worse than Chris-chan for defending it.

Yes, I'm mad at people harming legal customers while pirates don't give a shit. I remember how I had to install fricking crack to legally bought GTA IV to play it or games that would refuse to run if you had optical drive with write function (again - crack solving these problems). All Denuvo does is annoyance. Nobody buy games because they can't pirate them at the moment, lost sales are myth and one big lie. Piracy always was and always will exist.

I'm not paying for anything and can still enjoy those games. The scene might be different today than what it was two decades ago when people cracked software sometimes for the benefit of society and sometimes just for a sense of challenge, however in the end it doesn't matter to me why the game gets cracked as long as it does, nor do I give a shit about the possible mental illnesses of the software cracker as long as the crack gets made. Ultimately, the cracked version of the game I want gets to me, free of charge.
            >non provable drivel
I, personally, only buy games I have tried and can form an opinion on before the purchase. It can be free2play early access, an official demo or a pirated copy, it doesn't matter to me. For example, Darkest Dungeon. I pirated it, loved it very much and then bought it. It's as simple as that. Sure I might not buy every game that I pirate, but I am not buying anything unless I can try it before.
            >inb4 p-prove it!
Sure thing lmao. I can't obviously speak for everyone, but I can prove that what I said is true for me personally. Which should be already devastating to whatever narrative you're trying to have.

Studies have already been done that show piracy doesn't affect the gaming industry as much as they claim. Most people who pirate weren't going to buy the game in the first place, or rarely, they will buy it once DRM is removed. A majority of players do not fricking care because they don't know what Denuvo is and will just buy the game anyway, and the average zoomer doesn't even know how to pirate games, music, movies.

          >studies have shown
How can anyone know this is what I always wondered. This is like those articles talking about "80% of gamers are women" where its based on a really limited opt in investigation from a website noone uses where people who playd a game on their phone once are counted. How can anyone know how many people pirated a game unless they asked everyone across the planet who pirated the game to raise their hand when asked "would you have bought this game without DRM?" and 70% of the people dont even speak english or are actually honest. I think this study is bullshit.

Not to say the assumption is wrong, but saying that it is confirmed that people who pirate wouldnt buy the game or would if there was no DRM is complete bullshit, we cant know short of having a consensus of all gamers. I was never asked about this, were you? I would pirate games myself just so I dont have to pay for them, why pay when its free, its not a moral quandary about DRM or paying when I like it. Its free. I would bet that my perspective is what the overwhelming majority of people who pirate use.

DRM exists only because piracy is rampant. Piracy is also the reason games are being made for the people who pay for them instead of the pirates who think they have better ideas. If you homosexuals didn't insist on ooga boogaing shit for free, publicly bragging about it (the real issue) and making everyone know about it, then turn around and act like the devs and publishers should listen to your zero income ass, drm wouldn't exist. You just couldn't keep your proverbial mouths shut, you just NEEDED that attention. It's like bragging that you downloaded a ton of movies off archive dot org then acting all surprised that wow, MPAA and friends found out and now all of those movies got taken down. Mongoloid.

        >DRM exists only because piracy is rampant.
You're talking shit like a moron.
DRM exists because of copyright. Corporations often don't have the balls to offer something that is easily accessible even if the cucks (consumers in their view) don't pay anything. It takes some humanity to do that, some faith in people, which is lacking in much of today's corporate environment.
They want to control the consumer as much as possible, to try to lower the risks, but it's all a big illusion. When the satanists from Denuvo give their presentation to a bunch of suits who have never held a joystick in their hands, everyone there is concerned about one thing: holding the cucks on a leash in the hope that they will consume without complaint and make the company grow by 1% in the quarter.
Meanwhile, one of the most successful games in history (Minecraft) was easily pirated from day 1, and still made billions for its creator. Weird, isn't it?

Thats not how framerate dump works anon. You are looking at averages when the stutter comes from sudden dips. So, you can have 10 seconds of buttersmooth 120fps and then Denuvo dips you to 1fps for half a second. Still averaging 119 but every 10 seconds your game freezes.

The new video game communities are either not old enough or just simply don't know about how much influence gamers had on the industry.
So they are operating on the "it is what it is" mentality and since they are the majority, the corporations don't have to do anything to change in the overwhelming situations.

Old DRM routinely refused to launch games, making them unplayable, limited number of installs from the same CD to 3 or less, it required always having CD on hands and in the most severe cases could break your PC.

To be devil's advocate, is it not possible that the people who made Hogwart's Legacy didn't know how to optimize a PC game and Denuvo compounded the issue? I'm looking at their development history and the only PC games they've ever made were two disney shovelware games, disney infinity 3.0, and then Hogwarts. Capcom is actually capable of spitting out a good PC port and the RE engine is respectably optimized.

Even Capcom has fricked up though, RE Village had awful stuttering due to Denuvo and Capcom's own DRM, but that was fixed quickly at least... That being said, yeah Capcom's PC ports are very solid, though I expect DD2 will not be a good port, at least not a release since this is their first game that has dropped support for older gen consoles.

It doesn't even have to be a "toaster" CPU, pic related is with a 13900K. But it depends on the game, it's usually not THIS bad: Ratchet and Clank is the most extreme example I've seen so far.

Understandable, but it will take 2 years or more, it seems to depend on the time official "support" or whenever they release all the patches and content they intend to release is done.

I built this PC just for 1440p and it does it comfortably, I was even going to get a 7900 XT, but I found a nice discount on the 7800 and it works just fine.

Because your computer is a piece of shit. It's like blaming AV1 for bad video playback performance when the real problem is your hardware is too old and shitty to support it so it's struggling to play the file back through the cpu.

          >But why does Denuvo degrade performance so much?
it really depend on the game, some game have nearly identical perf because Denuvo used some of your CPU so if you are GPU bound Denuvo effect could be non existant.
I know because I tried some Capcom games after they removed Denuvo and it was basically the same.

Capcom ALWAYS drops Denuvo about a year after release. Theyve done this for years. If you are this much of a homosexual about it just wait a year and get it in a sale etc. Or just get a console, because 99% of major PC releases have DRM, sometimes multiple, sometimes they dont even do anything and are still affecting performance. Or just dont play the game, I dont give a frick, Ill have DD2 and youll have the threads talking about the game as you are still talking about Denuvo.

I played BotW maybe 2 years ago for the first time and I loved it, which is partially one of the key advantages of single player games that they don't necessarily age as much as multiplayer games do.

Nintendo says that too, and they have a whole company behind that rather than a single studio, yet people still do it. Noone likes it, but just like microtransactions, its not going anywhere, they are not going to get rid of it, the only hope is that they make it less apparent where it affects the game when they do use it.

What was the last game you bought for PC that wasnt an indie game, you dont need to asnwer, but be honest with yourself and look up its DRM. Because if you do make a big deal out of this then you shouldnt buy anything but indie games because basically all PC games have DRM now, even multiple in some cases, and you would be supporting it by buying games with it.

So no, you are not making a big deal of it unless you are doing this. Its mild anger. Stop buying PC games if you genuinely feel strongly about this and buy a console instead instead of just saying how bad DRM is to anonymous people on the internet. Actually take steps to not put money into it. Most games tend to remove Denuvo specifically because its a paid service by the way, it seems to be something used to stop initial sales getting pirated and after that they just drop it.

idk if its because i never really max out my games or im lucky but every game ive had with denuvo hasn't given me performance issues. The only issue ive had with it was when I was trying to play SF6 at my locals and it wouldn't let me launch the game without internet so I put on my hotspot just to launch the game

DD2 is one of the few games I've been truly looking forward to so I will probably cave and get it. I'll wait a couple of days though, see how performance is.

  132. 7 months ago

If the game is CPU bottlenecking to where Denuvo makes it noticeable, it already had performance problems anyway and belongs in the trash. Never does Denuvo turn a well running game into a shit running game.
The only concerns with Denuvo is that it can prevent some unofficial modding and compatibility or when they decide to incorporate limited installs. All valid complaints, but never is Denuvo responsible for a poorly running game.
OP has a point, this might have matters when people were hungry for like 5 more FPS, but now that's a joke when people have triple digit frame rates and adaptive monitors.

Hopefully they don't have strict anti-tamper. I wasn't able to play ER online because making it run at 16:10 on SteamDeck gets it flagged as 'cheating'.

your moronic gaypost aside, I think most people will miss the part where it says 2160i/30fps under recommended specs
2160 "i" being RE engine interlaced mode aka checkerboard rendering which will be 1920x2160 + filtering
so this game will absolutely not run as good as any RE engine game to date, upscaling is probably a must

The requirements are rather modest though.
For minimum, they ask for a 4 to 5 year old $100 CPUs, and less than $100 GPUs, the GTX 1070 is like 8 years old and can easily be had for less than ~$80 used.
And that's for native 1080p at 30 FPS, and I'm guessing medium settings.
For recommended, they ask for the same CPU basically, so $100 CPUs, and ~$270 GPUs, the RTX 2080 is also like 4 years old, and can't even be bought new, I think.
That's for 2160i at 30FPS, and I'm assuming medium to high settings, that's like 2560x1440 or perhaps a little more demanding, I'm guessing you could simply play native 60+ FPS at 1080p with the recommended specs.
      That seems reasonable to me.

        Anonymous

oh I never said the requirements weren't reasonable, it's just capcom was sneaky putting in interlaced resolution as part of recommended specs
RE4 has GTX 1070 as recommended while this has 2080 which is quite a leap

Could it be that this team full of fecal coliforms on their hands, who are doing damage control all over the Internet, are part of the agreement that Denuvo has with the companies? Like...
"Okay, I'm interested in your product, but what about people's reaction? They don't like being treated like criminals like you're proposing we do."
"Oh, don't worry, along with our anti-tamper DRM, we have a highly qualified team of professionals specialized in viral marketing and damage control. They'll turn public opinion in your company's favor"
And two days after the agreement we have things like this being posted on Ganker:
    >It will be the ultra kino. Exploring the world at night and reading pirate cucks crying before going to sleep.

Denuvo unnecessarily lowers the lifespan of your computer. Because it burdens your hardware with needless processes that don't benefit you in any way.

Your CPU and GPU has limited use. It's finite.
Even if you take perfect care of your hardware, a CPU for instance only has so or so many cycles it can manage before it actually kicks the bucket.

Denuvo depletes this finite use of your hardware. But without actually doing anything to benefit you.

Literally on a 4090/7800x3d build with 64gb ram and some newest games still find a way to shug because they're pieces of shit coded by pajeets and other blue haired homosexuals. Devs are even making games with DLSS in mind (see Remnant 2, bunch of homosexuals, as much as i like the game)

Developers used to do a lot of clever tricks to make games look good, now they rely on engines for everything which is why games run poorly and sometimes even look worse.
