My dad (55) wants to start playing video games, he has never played one in his life other than 'that block game' 30 years ago. I think he means tetris.
What video game does one start on as their first ever? What do I get him to play?

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Elden Ring
God of War 4
Nothing really 3D as this might confuse them. Maybe Mario 1 or something simple as that
I thought mario but he said it looks too simple
I thought RDR2 but he might be out off by the cinematic style and controls
At a bit of a loss here
Easy him up with jrpgs because they're quite easy and immersive for inexperienced players
Depends how arcade he wants to go. List his hobbies and his favorite movies. That could give some clues. I would probably say a call of duty game
Make sure he starts out with the right game.
make him play fortnite. show him all the cool dances.
Hard question to answer, a linear game is a must for a first time preferably a 2D one.
Old: Super Mario Bros 1 or Doom 1
New: Sony movies are brain dead so it's a safe bet, since they don't have that much of a gameplay.
Unironically, give him movie games.
Most old people somehow don't have coordination in its fingers to press control buttoms in sinceonized ways, but they should be good with games where everything is just an interactive movie.
The walking dead Seasons 1 and 2 might be good, as well the Wof Among Us.
Detroit Become Human, Until Dawn may be good too.
My father wanted to try out vydya too, but quit after realising he sucked ass when he tried to play Call of Duty and Medal of Honor, only to get stuck at the first level and the fricking tutorial for hours.
He just couldn't look around while walking at all, let alone how to fricking run.
However, if he doesn't suck and wants something more modern, probably Yakuza 0, or Disco Elysium, just to laugh at weird shit.
My problem with this anon is he'll ask "why is he playing a vidya when he's just watching stuff?"
In a way maybe my father is more based than all of us
I'm thinking just a hard gameplay focused game on the Switch might be a good entry point
The correct answer is Fable.
actually this might be a good one (sotn). nice visuals/music and its easy enough, for the most part
bethesda games give you exploration and item hoarding
old people love hoarding things
Make him play Valiant heart.
Skyrim.
Dragon quest
Start with either a 2D top down game like Legend Of Zelda or a racing game.
Start nice and slow, no games like Call of Duty where sometimes specific actions or your attention to something are specific required.
If shooters let him start with OG Doom and work your way up.
Obviously Dark souls
Have him play something cool like Synthetik
