It is mostly better than Portia but the workshop has been downgraded IMO. They introduced the concept of queues, which is nice. But are too cowards to actually give us more than 2 queues per machine. They removed the concept of different recipes for upgraded machines, so the production line is mostly simplified, which IMO kills any real motivation of upgrading the machines.
Like. Why I'm upgrading my grinder? In Portia it was clear, apart from needing it to create more advanced (story locked) recipes, you also unlocked different (easier) recipes for old recipes. Like now making a gear doesn't require passing through the furnace or something like that. So the upgrade was clearly more noticeable. In Sandrock this doesn't happen, better machines only have 2 queues and I assume better stats, but you don't notice the change unless you compare the machines.
You can’t build everything with every machine unless it’s fully upgraded. Also upgraded machines have better bonuses.

How far into the game are you? Make sure you do 1-2 build commissions per day and just buy water off Burgers or whatever his name was. I built a few dew collectors but they don't really seem worth it since they only get like 1-2 dew per day.
the dlc fox and gecko are giant water giving life savers, otherwise you'll just have to endure until you get can get your first pet
Invest in the water saving perks and like once a week buy as much water as you can from the fat frick. Once you get to adopt pets and have them fetch dew for you, it's on easy, until you decided to plant a lot of crops but by that point you'll have so much money anyway
Just buy some, you should be earning plenty of money

Not as far as I'm aware. Best approach for the game IMO is to always have a certain amount of craftable items in your chests. I started with 10 of each and now I always have at least 50 items of each item in my chests. That way I always can make shit easily regardless of what the game throws at me.

handbook -> select the crafting machine -> click the magnifying glass to see what items the machine makes -> hover over item

Just keep talking and playing cards with them / doing commissions for them until you build relationship. Eventually they'll start asking for specific stuff aka "wishes". You can fulfill one of these per week and I think 1-2 more with knowledge upgrades.
It's pretty obvious based on their personality. The farm chick likes gross stuff and fish bait and the pottery goddess likes pearls diamonds and earrings and shit that looks good. Builder chick likes building material. Still haven't found out what's under the shit that they "love" but at a point it becomes very easy to advance their friendship just by doing commissions for them or helping the town or going on dates with them

Try to get the barn, raise yakmels and sell them once they reach maturity. I think stables work as well but it requires more investment.

Keep in mind that the game has aggressive popping when you leave buildings or on festivities. This seems to be a implementation "feature". It's better than having long loading times like in Portia, I guess.
I have a 3070 and with the SSD the load times are fine but the performance is still kinda ass. Guess the game is poorly optimized, a 3070 should kick this things ass. In doors I get like 150fps, outside hovers between 60-80 depending on location
For some fricking reason it lags during sand fishing despite normally going 100 fps
SSD, intel 6700k + 1660 super my only issue is pop-in and assets taking a moment to load when changing zones. Festivals and such when there's a lot of NPCs around make my fans go into jet engine mode though.

It's good, but be warned that Qi's hammer won't work on later higher tier ores and scrap were the Iron one would, despite having the same stats

When the game presents you with the ruin menu (where you can upgrade the jetpack/sensor), you have to press a button to restart the instances of the ruins so the items respawn .You can do this indefinitively by leaving/re-entering the ruins.

Raise Pen and Matilda rep for the passive bonuses, because due to later story they both leave the town and never return.
Armor refinements can mention critical chance, but if you look in your stats, your crit isn’t increasing. It’s a but and supposed to say endurance I believe.
Mounts are 100% worth it for the speed. Make sure to get a horse.
Do the weekly experiments with the doctor. It unlocks items and recipes that let you raise the rarity level of your mount.
You can gather aluminum scrap as long as you are careful about your hp loss in the toxic canyon. Maybe it was a bug but the suit never worked for me in here.
Matilda only gives a discount at the barbershop and I won't let that disgusting homosexual touch my hair.

But you cannot give gifts from boxes. For relationship gifting you have to have the item in hand.

Refiner is mandatory:
>Multiple commissions require higher quality items
>Refining accessories, tools and weapons increases their effeciency massively
>Refining your machines increases their efficiency
The refinement items are easy to get as well.
Also, I would highly recommend refining your level 1 machines like the recycler, because the quality stays when you upgrade them directly to the next tier, whereas if you build then try to refine a higher tier machine off the bat it costs higher tier resources to refine
Quick tip as well: Weapons can be refined infinitely to reroll modifiers, however, the first 10 times you refine a weapon, its stats will go up guaranteed and stay higher. On the 11th onwards you just reroll the modifiers again
You can raise your gear/craft stations 10-15 item levels above what it starts as and thus have much stronger stuff.
It's important if commissions ask you for materials/buildings higher than green quality. I remember getting a request for something simple (Thin Thread) but this b***h wanted the blue quality ones and I didn't notice so I had to rush build it. I believe there's a perk that improves the rewards if you give higher than requested quality stuff so it might be worth having one around since stuff upgrades instantly so you don't need more than one.
You can mine power stones from the ruins once you unlock it. I would avoid using wood as fuel for now since you're gonna need a lot of it for boxes, furniture, commissions and such and I haven't found a way to downgrade hardwood which is abundant as shit.

Yes. Nothing is time gated except for commissions you accept. Story is entirely at your own pace.
Some side quests have time limits once you accept them, you can do whatever as long as you don't start them. Main quests you can ignore forever.
