they make like clothes and shit from used bottles. it's not actually reused as bottles as it is. Glass bottles at least used to be basically cleaned and reused from what i remember.

EU is hard at work to make re-useable plastic bottles a thing as well as part of their recycling initiative. It's not a sensible, cost effective or an environmental solution but for some god damn reason the EU is insistent that this is the way forward.
They actually had to be lobbied by the milk industry to not include milk cartons as part of this bullshit. You have to be an extra special kind of moron to even think of washing and then re-using a fricking milk carton instead of just recycling it as paper waste.

For water to reach your house, it needs to travel through kilometers of pipes. Unfortunately, because of that, even if the water treatment station provides the cleanest water possible, by the time it reaches your house it's already slightly contaminated at best.
However, bottled mineral water isn't really nice because of varying degrees of microplastics (the biggest contributor being high temperatures during transportation in trucks).
