Because apparently every game needs matchmaking, eomm/sbmm, no mods, ai text/voice moderation, dei shit like pride/sweetbaby pandering, chores to inflict sunk cost like battle pass/daily challenges, fomo item shops, etc I could keep going but it's grim enough already.

why are troony fortress so delusional? is their brain completely rotten by gay porn or something?

He's not wrong though. People whine about how "sweaty" games are now thanks to how matchmaking works in them. Even in supposedly casual modes, there's mmr in thr background, combined with generally lower teams leads to more frustration over losing games that aren't even ranked.

If TF2 is so great why hasn't Valve done anything about the bot crisis?

Because they're care purely about profits. Cs/Dota are far from Valve's best games.

        >Cs/Dota are far from Valve's best games
no but they're very active games. if you look at TF2's steam charts, the game has never been as popular as CSGO or Dota 2
        https://steamcharts.com/app/440
so what reason does valve have to dedicate their resources to the 50,000 people playing TF2 (probably less) instead of the 650,000 people currently playing CS?

Valve should shut down CS and Dota and make a Banana clone, it would clearly be much more economical.

          Anonymous

Good job explaining what I already said succinctly.
          >so what reason does valve have to dedicate their resources
Ultimately, none. But Valve is (was) generally regarded as a cut above other developers in terms of their games. Even through the past nothingburger of a decade they've been lauded as the best.
It turns out they're no better, and it takes time for people to come to terms with the fact Valve is just as bad as the rest.
Basically outdated optimism because people still think Valve are the same perfectionists they were in the 2000s.

Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.

because no multiplayer game where pvp is the focus is ever made to be fun anymore. they are either completely antithetical to fun by being so hardcore that only autists of a specific caliber can enjoy them, or they shit the bed with small teams(4v4, 5v5, 6v6, etc) and are seen as an esport first and a fun video game second.

they also just suck to play in comparison to tf2 by virtue of tying class skills to specific "ability slots with cooldowns" or they invariably force a specific meta with mandatory team compositions instead of letting you play who you want and your team wins regardless thanks to either your niche contributions or the overwhelming skill of the butthomosexual with a glowing pink hat.

tl:dr, everyone is useful and fun in tf2, the same cannot be said for other games

  12. 1 week ago
    Anonymous

Well, it's really the first and most standout game of its genre. If someone made TF2 exactly but just swapped out all of the characters/locales for functionally equivalent ones people would just call it a ripoff of TF2 and not bother. Any game that tries to take its thunder would not manage because it has none of the legs that TF2 had.
TF2 is still "updated" just not by Valve. TF2C, Open Fortress, and SourceMod community servers all exist.
