What's that?
What's the point of making After The End for the old world? The appeal was to put America into a wacky post-apocalyptic medieval times with knights and popes, because it did not have that in its history originally. But the old world already had its real medieval times.

Yup. NEOW is not a bad mod, but it misses the point. What is different for a player to do in NEOW that you wouldn’t have wanted to do in regular CK2? Reconquista, de-conquista, uniting Germany….it’s all the same.
I genuinely found it fun, especially in the early releases, to play ATEOW. ATE(FF) was cool with its American focus and how you can do stuff like play your hometown and conquer/inherit/rule places where you already live or have experienced in your actual life. If you're American, Europe is just some place from history books, so this adds a crucial element of the game that Americans could never enjoy.
ATEOW was also fun though. Its focus on adding fun new religious mechanics and wackifying everything from CK2 in particular was enjoyable. But CK3 realized that having a ton of religions was fun and then totally missed the point, so this became underappreciated and the mod decided to de-wackify for some reason, so Swedes no longer worship Alfred Nobel, Norwegians no longer worship Dynamite, etc.
Still, the new update lets me actually unite most of Russia, at least to its opposite coastline, which I wanted to do for a long time but was never able to do. (I'd still like to conquer the rest.)
I think the point was just to be able to play in America, and then everything else in the mod was added in to make it possible to have "CK2 (American)"

Why didn't they try to make him actually look like Griffith? I know you can't have white hair, but they could at least give him long blond hair.
I thought the same. There's also seemingly no event for Griffith to take over the kingdom with the band of the hawk. Gus is also in game, as are all the other members. Casca and him look equally French, but Guts has some cool artifacts and good stats.

There are the American descendants in Okinawa, and also the Thelema guy in India, but that's about it as far as I know.
Only tangentially relevant, but there's some Protestant mad duke in the mountains in Jiangxi who rules over Nanchang who can restore the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. He's Chinese but completely alien from the rest of Asia.
