Just wait for the hour long sidenote explaining a quirk in the N64's architecture to explain why Mario moves 3.2 units instead of 3.1 when moving diagonally against a wall.
Yeah. Recently, the WR holder, Weegee, realized you can detect cheating using mario's blinking animation cycle. He came up with it after watching a pancake video.
It depends on how likely any of the invisible walls are to be hit during live playing. I know for my casual playthroughs I'm for sure doing his hazy maze cave hanging "route" to not fall off for no reason, that shit has happened to me

Holy shit I tuned in late and thought that was the whole video, you're telling me there's MORE. I am locked the frick in for the afternoon.
It's more that the different aspects act against each other. Look at the movement mechanics and it's a god tier game with how smooth and precise it all is. Look at it in terms of collision and its a fricking dogshit game with so many frick ups. However how many people look at the game that autistically? When I first played, I hit one of those ones during the section where you're hanging from metal to get to the star (which he showed earlier) and had no idea what the cause was until now. I thought for a few minutes that you couldn't go from hanging on one metal piece to another as a result.
I recall getting hit by invisible walls multiple during Tall Tall Mountain where you can long jump past the log as well as jumping to the mushroom with the star on one side. I already knew Tick Tock Clock was a nightmare to navigate in speedruns.

It still astounds me how much the internet has allowed unparalleled autism to be seen by the masses. Imagine all of the hardcore dedicated autismos in history that were forced to keep their autistic obsessions completely to themselves. Truly a remarkable time we live in.
Autists used to spend decades cataloging local species of beetles, or some shit. Or obsessively obsessing over engines and trains to the point that they could do repairs one handed.
The problem was never autism. It was making the geniuses of the world yearn for something greater while providing them with children's toys and student loans.
Imagine pannenkoek born in 1750: he would be an Einstein. Imagine a chris chan that read the Bible instead of winning a Sega sweepstake: he would've been a priest.
Society is broken and it really isn't the autist's faults.
>Imagine a chris chan that read the Bible instead of winning a Sega sweepstake: he would've been a priest.
He did read the Bible, he just thought he was Jesus instead.
He read it way too late. The chance to save him was before the sonic cartoon. Once his special interest was "blue hedgehog" and "chinpokomans", it was too late.
He only really got the Jesus delusions because he was locked in a cell with nothing but a Bible while already having psychosis.
>Imagine pannenkoek born in 1750: he would be an Einstein
pannenkoek is not an autist or smart, he's what dumb people think a smart autist is.
His entire shtick is being the "badly written smart person for dumb people" in movies.
An autist don't invent his own arbitrary stuff like a child when not needed to.
>missed the first 40 minutes, figured I'd just wait until it ends rather than join live and miss most of it >3 fricking hours later >it's still premiering

So he must still have plenty of ideas for several videos right? Otherwise it wouldn't make sense. Looking forward to more content regardless, picrel will be me whenever he drops something as crazy as the blinking mechanic.
This type of autism isn't endearing or fun, this is the kind of autism people should get bullied for.
These homosexuals make me cringe every time I see Mario 64. Disgusting speedrunning troons.
You have a bully moving at 1000 PU speeds, when mario collides with the bully and does squish cancel, he keeps that speed, then use a tilting platform to go up. The problem is how to build bully speed without losing it again, how to tilt the tilting platform in a way that lets you squish cancel AND get displaced up. Don't expect this to be done for awhile, we're not autistic enough to work on this shit 24/7 for years, we need to take breaks from our hobbies, unlike some people
Look man, it's just not going to happen. We've had our best men working on it for years at this point. You can't get them out of their rooms, they're like NEETs.
Is this from the demo at Walmart I played as a kid? Where there was an exit painting behind the start that shot you out and took away a life?
Nobody remembers this, and I've had the memory since I was 6 years old and wondered why it wasn't in the game when my parents got me an N64 in 1997.
It blows my mind that people spend so much time and energy on such a mediocre game. Nostalgia makes people fricking stupid.
I was a teenager when mario 64 released, i was there. It wasn't that great.
Jumping Flash was a far better video game.
There is no other 5th gen game with half the movement tech of SM64. Not even banjo, which was directly inspired by it.
Visually I think spyro is probably the best looking, but even it has a pathetic move pool when compared to mario 64.
This. The original WFRR video was good BECAUSE he isn't letting his ego get to him. But every commentated video after is him trying too hard to inject his own weird humor into things and he knows people will gobble his autism dick for it.
He didn't do commentated for years because of memes. I'm glad he broke out of his shell, his mario autism is second to none and he deserves the spotlight
>you can press and release a button >instead of saying they are pressing the button or releasing the button he creates his own arbitrary term for this >has to explain it in 30min because the term is moronic and makes no sense >instead of using linguistic that already exist to explain the exact thing he wants to convey
This is not autism, this is just pure ego stroking. It serves no other purpose than trying to make yourself look smarter.
Well, just watched a couple minutes of it and already a much better start than the pendulum one, gives me more of a watch for rolling rocks vibe, which is great. I really do think he put commentated videos on such a high pedestal with WfRR, so switched to uncommentated, finally got himself over that idea with the pendulum one, and now fully back into it.
I feel fricking stupid because back then playing the game as a kid and teen I ran into a ton of these invisible walls but I thought they were put there intentionally by the devs, like they wanted the player to play the game in a specific way. It never crossed my mind that they were just programming errors
>This is very advanced autism.

Yes and if you want to know why they exist you talk to an actual game dev that can explain it because they have experience, they CREATED them and know why they are there. You don't listen to someone pretending to be an autist make up his own shit of "why" they exist so he can make a 4h video dragging out forever.

When in reality if you asked the dev he would say something like "Yeah we coded it like that to do Y thing, that's it"

I very much doubt any of the SM64 devs from 30 years ago are even aware of half the shit that Pannen talked about
Yes and if you want to know why they exist you talk to an actual game dev that can explain it because they have experience, they CREATED them and know why they are there. You don't listen to someone pretending to be an autist make up his own shit of "why" they exist so he can make a 4h video dragging out forever.
>he's just bullshitting for four hours
All he does is explain what causes them and then lists every instance. The reason it's so long is because he points out the "why" again for literally every instance.
I know he game some stream examples but is this shit an actual menace to Speedruns or a 1 thing per week thing for those people who plays the game 25 hour a day for months on end?
Ceilings are supposed to either be at the top of a room, or the bottom of a structure. They extend upward to keep Mario from exiting the room from the top or entering the structure by shoving him out the bottom, respectively. The whole invisible wall thing is mostly rounding errors caused by triangles being converted to a grid system that doesn't line up properly, causing those ceilings to escape the bounds of a structure.
I'm 19:15 in and I'm not sure how he's gonna stretch this out another 3 hours an 20 minutes because it seems like invisible walls are just displaced ceilings?
Just finished watching it. Really interesting stuff, lots of speedrunner / streamer rage too. Kind of funny how many invisible walls there are in the game.
It's this type of shit in game design I live for, these little edge cases no one would think about that is caused by a rule that no one thought of all exceptions for.
so for some reason i've watched most of it and here's my understanding
short version is, triangle vertexes and collision are done with shorts(truncated for mario's movement), but movement and the actual vectors of the triangles are floats
oob and ceiling collision extends upwards infinitely unless it's covered by a floor, and all the models and collision are very much hand sculpted using what must've been very rudimentary tools, so if a ceiling's coords jut out a bit over a vector, or there's some other misalignment, there'll be a very fine grained fence you'll have a chance of hitting
this at least covers up to cause 7
>tfw ywn be on a romantic boat ride with pannen that he planned months in advance as he autistically explains invisible walls to you while your mouth and hands are taped shut

Damn TTC is fricked
It's crazy how poorly coded Mario 64 is. How do autists get so addicted to bad games like this?
Every game is poorly coded.
If you think that's bad wait until you see a game from 2024
It's the contrary actually. Mario 64 is so good that even in spite of its major flaws, it's an undeniable masterpiece.
It's more that the different aspects act against each other. Look at the movement mechanics and it's a god tier game with how smooth and precise it all is. Look at it in terms of collision and its a fricking dogshit game with so many frick ups. However how many people look at the game that autistically? Why is this the first time I've ever heard of these invisible walls being a problem in sm64? I've even seen a decent amount of speed running content and never saw it brought up back then.
Have you never played the game? I've hit about half of these on a casual playthrough, the game is ass.
most of my memories from this game are in the DS version
It's happened but we thought "haha, first 64 game is wonky" and move on, but now we're finally seeing why.
It happens mostly on moving platforms, like the spinning ones from Bowser stages
I think you and I switched universes in our sleep because I too have never known invisible walls in SM64 exist.
I don't remember hitting them in the original game but rom hacks I hit them even seemingly consistently on the same spots.
HOLY shit! the king is back!

We seek it out, we yearn for the autism.
It's time to let go TJ yoshi.
What? Creating and using technical lingo is common is all fields.
Don't talk out of your ass, high school dropout.
Kino
is this what turbo autism looks like?
Yes actually. Somebody post the pens.
I was hoping he would give us a version of the rom with the invisible walls shown in-game. Rip.
Tick Tock Clock is such a disaster
THE RIDE NEVER ENDS
What the frick, I got here over 3 hours late and the video is still going.
Kino, simply kino
autism kino
Alright, class. The test will be tomorrow!
frick
I let anon borrow my notes and he never gave them back.
SLIME CANCEL GROUND POUND CHAIN. SLIME CANCEL GROUND POUND CHAIN.
>slime cancel
anon didn't pay attention at all
FRICK FRICK FRICK
Utter kino
I miss Ulillillia.
OWARI DA
>missed the first 40 minutes, figured I'd just wait until it ends rather than join live and miss most of it
>3 fricking hours later
>it's still premiering
Frick me
I missed the first entire hour and just caught up in 2x speed, and still saw more of it alongside Ganker than without.
This will be preserved for future generations
Black person just use jdownloader2 like a sensible person if you're desperate for a GUI
Can JDownloader also download subtitles? I didn't even know I could use it for youtube.
Based sponsorblock hero
yes
bro, just download yt-dlp... unless you're a zoomer scared of basic command line stuff. Here's what I use.
yt-dlp -f "bv*[ext=mp4]+ba[ext=m4a]/b[ext=mp4] / bv*+ba/b" YOUTUBE_URL_HERE
>someone has perfectly working solution
>troony Gankeray autists have to show up with their moronic obfuscated nerd code nonsense
kek
>downloading pajeetware just to download a fricking youtube video
Tech literacy is on the decline, don't be part of the problem!
okay what’s the better way to download then HMMMM?
Why should I abandon the gui if I have a program that works fine? I use yt-dlp for websites that are not youtube though.
Or better yet just get youtube-dl-gui.
the gui is troony FOSS unpractical nonsense
I hate to tell you this but 90% of software is made by trannies and/or furries.
How do I install it? There's no exe file on github and no guide.
https://mrs0m30n3.github.io/youtube-dl-gui/
Thanks anon.
>last updated 7 years ago
Hope it still works.
forgot to mention on on mac
>on mac
Well you're probably fricked then, sorry bro.
Kino. Hope he makes enough money off spergs to do this full time, I need more simplistic explanations of autistic coding oversights.
Cool. Gonna watch later. Any new 0x like last time he did something like this only to reveal 3 improvements?
I thought for sure the secret ending thing would be an explanation of the cosmic ray jump thing. It sure seemed like it was leaning into it on TTC
What is there to explain, it was just a bit flip.
>decides to shill memberships 8 years after the release of his most popular video
Is... that a guy analyzing a video game???
AAAAAAHHHHHH HELP ME DR. ASPERGER I'M GOING INSAAAAAAAAAANE
Don't give (you) or any kind of attention to these disingenuous shitposters. They have no soul.
This and bet if someone did this with sonic all of Ganker would call it autistic shit.
Ironic how b***hing incels like you sharing your shit unsolicited opinion about anything are the ones who'd get bullied.
I learned so much about invis walls, edging, chunks, and squish canceling.
edging is my favorite tech
What's the current status on BitS console 0xA?
I meant BitFS.
Confirmed to be impossible.
>inceleb thread
go back
Black person it was 8 years ago when pannen graced us with his autism
t. TJ "Henry" Yoshi
Squish Cancel is heavily involved in BitFS 0x.
Don't expect this to be done for awhile, we're not autistic enough to work on this shit 24/7 for years, we need to take breaks from our hobbies, unlike some people
It feels good when I squish and unsquish my goomba
>Mario's hat is removed and replaced every single frame
What
Of all the shit I've learned about the jankyass programming of this game, this is perhaps the weirdest.
jut
>2024
>I am forgotten
Look man, it's just not going to happen. We've had our best men working on it for years at this point. You can't get them out of their rooms, they're like NEETs.
Is this from the demo at Walmart I played as a kid? Where there was an exit painting behind the start that shot you out and took away a life?
Nobody remembers this, and I've had the memory since I was 6 years old and wondered why it wasn't in the game when my parents got me an N64 in 1997.
was the video good?
I enjoyed everything until case 8, which I felt dragged a little bit in the explanation phase.
Millennials are soooooooooooo gay
It blows my mind that people spend so much time and energy on such a mediocre game. Nostalgia makes people fricking stupid.
I was a teenager when mario 64 released, i was there. It wasn't that great.
Jumping Flash was a far better video game.
No other early 3D platformer has this amount of unrefined engine jank that lends itself to this kind of autism.
Jumping flash isn't even the same type of game. It feels more like if you made a first person dungeon crawler into a platformer.
Nintendo has its own brand of autists. I enjoy the videos, but I do wish they were centered around better games.
I guess a big boon is that Mario has been decomped at this point so it's a lot easier to dive into the code than other games of the era.
There is no other 5th gen game with half the movement tech of SM64. Not even banjo, which was directly inspired by it.
Visually I think spyro is probably the best looking, but even it has a pathetic move pool when compared to mario 64.
Pann is one of the biggest attentionprostitutes on the Internet with an inflated ego.
This. The original WFRR video was good BECAUSE he isn't letting his ego get to him. But every commentated video after is him trying too hard to inject his own weird humor into things and he knows people will gobble his autism dick for it.
>Disappears for 7 years
>Attention prostitute
???
He didn't do commentated for years because of memes. I'm glad he broke out of his shell, his mario autism is second to none and he deserves the spotlight
>90% of his videos are uncommentated
>attentionprostitute
Pannen is one of the greatest autists currently living.
>attentionprostitute with inflated ego
>good
I fricking shit in your mouth last thread because you were too stupid to understand shorthand, sit down homosexual
>4 hour video
uh oh
>you can press and release a button
>instead of saying they are pressing the button or releasing the button he creates his own arbitrary term for this
>has to explain it in 30min because the term is moronic and makes no sense
>instead of using linguistic that already exist to explain the exact thing he wants to convey
This is not autism, this is just pure ego stroking. It serves no other purpose than trying to make yourself look smarter.
Pannenkoek is probably really cute irl
would bang
back to your discord groomer
Well, just watched a couple minutes of it and already a much better start than the pendulum one, gives me more of a watch for rolling rocks vibe, which is great. I really do think he put commentated videos on such a high pedestal with WfRR, so switched to uncommentated, finally got himself over that idea with the pendulum one, and now fully back into it.
Anybody got the named pens pic?
I feel fricking stupid because back then playing the game as a kid and teen I ran into a ton of these invisible walls but I thought they were put there intentionally by the devs, like they wanted the player to play the game in a specific way. It never crossed my mind that they were just programming errors
>I feel fricking stupid
you should
did this shit get patched in the ds version, because I never encountered any of them
SM64DS is a completely different game entirely.
I'll admit I'm a bit of a sperg myself, but I can't imagine the mind that obsesses like this. What is it like autistbros?
Because your goal isn't to make a long video to make money, this is "fake autism"
No, I could never do this for decades with some old ass game even for money. This is very advanced autism.
>This is very advanced autism.
No it's not, it's no different from the 10h "skyrim story explained" videos.
He finds something to talk about, makes up his own headcanon and goes on to talk out his ass for hours about something he made up himself.
It's no different from when you were a kid and played with friends and made up your own rules and games.
You just have to be a bullshitter, it has nothing to do with autism. If it was autism he would go over stuff that EXIST and not make up his own arbitrary interpretation and headcanons.
Do the walls not exist?
Yes and if you want to know why they exist you talk to an actual game dev that can explain it because they have experience, they CREATED them and know why they are there. You don't listen to someone pretending to be an autist make up his own shit of "why" they exist so he can make a 4h video dragging out forever.
Are you sure you're not the autist?
I'm probably more autistic than him, and that's my entire fricking point.
He is as much of an autist as Sherlock holmes from the sherlock show is "smart"
you're not autistic, you're just stupid
homie you can just check the game's code for why something happens, are you genuinely moronic?
>moron looks at the code
>"ahh the reason for this is because "Y" and then so "Z" can happen and "C" make a progress because it was hard to implement "Z" and do "F" because unless you would do that it's not for "T"
>this goes on for hours because the moron is just trying to make content and padd time
When in reality if you asked the dev he would say something like "Yeah we coded it like that to do Y thing, that's it"
I very much doubt any of the SM64 devs from 30 years ago are even aware of half the shit that Pannen talked about
>the invisible walls are intentional
>unironically posts XKCD
posts XKCD
Bait or not, have a nice day you worthless Black person.
>he's just bullshitting for four hours
All he does is explain what causes them and then lists every instance. The reason it's so long is because he points out the "why" again for literally every instance.
7/10
>3 hours and 45 minutes long
>it’s like Moses parting the Red Sea but it’s the clock hand parting the invisible wall
I keked so fricking hard
has anyone made a romhack that fixes all the game's shitty geometry that causes this stuff?
I almost expected that to be the final reveal nanodesuka
I missed the lecture
Does anyone have notes I can copy?
Out of bounds does not exist. Do not look deeper
I know he game some stream examples but is this shit an actual menace to Speedruns or a 1 thing per week thing for those people who plays the game 25 hour a day for months on end?
Why do ceilings extend infinitely? I imagine that was like a hacky workaround but that ended up fricking a lot of the collision in the game.
What's the music beginning at 8:09? I hate when video authors don't list the music used.
I'm probably going to watch the whole thing anyways but I'm 15 minutes in and it already seems like 3/4 of the video has been him repeating himself.
>he hasn't reached the blue triangle orange triangle
lol
sorry that's what 2 hours of this does to a brain
Move over, Lord of the Rings.
4 hours
https://clips.twitch.tv/AdorableBloodyTermiteMingLee
KWAB
>red splits
lol who gves a shit iff the game bs you
>open video
>turn off live chat
>enjoy nearly 4 hours of pure autism
its literally that simple
have fun jerking off to trannies, losers
I'm 19:15 in and I'm not sure how he's gonna stretch this out another 3 hours an 20 minutes because it seems like invisible walls are just displaced ceilings?
>he doesn't know
The rabbit hole is deep
veeeeery deeeeep
Soon you will join the rest of us
>19:15
bro he hasn't even started talking about the walls yet
get your notebook ready, the test is tomorrow
I haven't watched it yet but I'm so fricking happy he got over the original set of memes and is just back to letting his autism run completely rampant
THE BLUE FLOOR AND TH ORANGE FLOOR AND THE EDGE VERTICES AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Just finished watching it. Really interesting stuff, lots of speedrunner / streamer rage too. Kind of funny how many invisible walls there are in the game.
This was definitely padded for Youtube and it drug in the middle but he saved the squish mechanics for the end which helped pull it together.
It's this type of shit in game design I live for, these little edge cases no one would think about that is caused by a rule that no one thought of all exceptions for.
so for some reason i've watched most of it and here's my understanding
short version is, triangle vertexes and collision are done with shorts(truncated for mario's movement), but movement and the actual vectors of the triangles are floats
oob and ceiling collision extends upwards infinitely unless it's covered by a floor, and all the models and collision are very much hand sculpted using what must've been very rudimentary tools, so if a ceiling's coords jut out a bit over a vector, or there's some other misalignment, there'll be a very fine grained fence you'll have a chance of hitting
this at least covers up to cause 7
this exam is gonna be hard
Nice try troll edit Anon
bitfs pole 0x when?
those lazy bullies aren't being a very good battery
i bet those elitist fricks in 8191 are laughing it up while we're stuck here
all the fat video essayists making 4 hour videos talking about the homosexuality of seinfeld could only dream of producing this level of kino feeling
>fleur
impressive length of video but i'm not listening to a high pitched voice of a complete skinny 30 lb Ganker geek
Did somebody say SQUISH? I think I heard a SQUISH.
>tfw ywn be on a romantic boat ride with pannen that he planned months in advance as he autistically explains invisible walls to you while your mouth and hands are taped shut
Why even live bros?
I want him to explain exactly how he kidnapped me, his contingency plans, how he arranged the boat ride, its path etc.
>when he starts explaining how he's going to dispose of the body
>To explain why we're on this boatride, we need to talk about floating point types. And no, I'm not talking about FLOATING point types!
>repeated midair moving object invisible ceiling misalignment hitboxes squish cancels into a chained BLJ/GP to build up speed in frame perfect intervals to instantly jump to the end of a level
and remember, you have to show up to the test with your syncing speeds pre-built, no taking 12 hours to build during the test
Do we forgive him, bros?
>attention prostitute
no
>advertising your youtube video on Ganker
