Looking at this, for all the shit people give about the decline of Gamefreak's starter design. They really haven't gotten worse at making first stage starters.
Yes the nu third stage starters all turn into jobmons but every new generation of first stages is pretty solid.

The reasoning is that GF would reserve gen 10 for the 30th anniversary of the franchise. Water/Dark cat (has an androgynous figure, can create blades out of water like Greninja, has Protein, and will be shilled by the Pokemon Company)
All starters will start off as quadrupeds before evolving into bipeds
The theme will be pirates (Doctor, Ship & Cannons, and Captain)
Region will take place in the Caribbeans
Water snake/leaviathan thing with a beak. Strange water hybrid thing (maybe with fins, like a beaked elasmosaurus)
Fire arachnid, like a spider of scorpion. Can evolve to be bipedal but must have multiple arms.
Grass/electric slot thing with a long tail that stays hidden in trees during the day but flashes the tip of its tail during the night, making them look like Christmas trees
Design-wise, I'm kinda indifferent. I just want designs that look cool. Ideally going back to more monster-like designs rather than the more humanoid ones we've been getting recently.
Type-wise, I got a few ideas:
>Grass/Steel
>Grass/Rock
Ferrothorn's a wall, Kartana a sweeper, so something in the middle would be ideal
Meanwhile part-Rock is a very threatening offensive combo, would be excellent on a sweeper
>Fire/Fairy
>Fire/Electric
>Fire/Ice
All combos that are either unused or used only be a special form of an existing Pokemon
>Water/Electric
>Water/Ghost
>Water/Poison
All not-so-common typings that I think would go well for a starter
Part-Poison does mess up its resistance to Grass, but that can be mitigated
