The peak. The pinnacle. The last good games in the series.Morimoto's magnum opus The swan song. The last Japanese region games. The last of old pokemon. The greatest video game remakes ever made. One of the best video games ever made..
HGSS wasn't the last good game, that was probably B2W2, but the latter doesn't even come close to comparison. Pokewalker, crossplay with DPP, tons of content, and more. It was the best of the traditionally designed Pokemon games and remains so to this day.
Not bait. Discord gays don’t have real opinions. The entire DS era was the peak of quality and the 3DS was the start of mediocrity. Still millions of times better than the Switch trash thoughie.
HGSS are easily the greatest games in the franchise. No matter how much gen 6 kids continue to cry about them, the majority of the fanbase will remember hgss as the greatest games in the franchise.
It's the truth. Again, HGSS wasn't the last good game, but it was the best of them by far.
Not bait. Discord gays don’t have real opinions. The entire DS era was the peak of quality and the 3DS was the start of mediocrity. Still millions of times better than the Switch trash thoughie.
Johto privilege is real, every other game is just half assed. Even gen1 cut features like breeding while gen2 added it back. I hate how Johto got all the actual effort both times while the regions I actually like got half assed remakes. Even fricking KANTO never had a simple Battle Tower after two remakes. Meanwhile Gen2 and its more watered down Kanto is the favored child with a pack in addon and features like a brand new game.
Can you imagine BDSP with even half the same effort? >Origin forms actually in the game instead of the spinoff >Game Corner replacement >All mons transferrable >Fully compatible trading and battling with SWSH >Frontier >Finished secret bases >the Villa thing from Platinum
That's just the bare minimum shit we should've EXPECTED from a remake. ORAS didn't even get the berry blending minigame, not even counting the game corner they never replaced with anything at all. Why is it Game Freak sits on their ass until JOHTOOO comes up? They all act like they wanted to make the goat game but only for Johto, any other game, new or old is just half assed.
6.5/10, ORAS is a way superior remake and Legends is an immensely superior comeback. They have the dullest region/s of them all and basically no major strong element to them. They're also one of the very few pokemon games that didnt add any new Pokemon at all. Theyre the worst pokemon games DS-wise as well. Even their legendaries barely represent anything at all and have a dull af theme compared to basically every other legendary. They let you visit 2 regions, but hows that a pro when every route is the same green boring shit beige vomit path and fences over and over?
The only things they really added to the series were the celebi event and the arceus event, which were only accessible for like 1 week. Also the connection they make with the unown and arceus isnt irrelevant, but regardless its a shade of relavance in a game that has nothing new, not even a damn basic plot with the recycling of team rocket and with you meeting the legendary because yes, a random chooses to gift you the magical item.
Also today theyre unplayable and boring as hell. They were cool in 2010, but thats it.
"ORAS is a way superior remake"
What were you smoking when you played ORAS? The originals are way less of a cakewalk and Emerald is still the definitive way to experience Hoenn.
HGSS will always reign as the definitive way to experience Johto, especially with how GF dumbs down Pokemon games to be cake walk no brain playthrough, the only issue with the Johto remakes I can think of is not fixing gym leader teams (like, they couldn't give Jasmine a Magneton or Magnezone, or give Pyrce a Mamoswine?) and the terrible level curve.
>Dullest region of them all and have no strong element to them.
My homie, it's based on traditional Japanese culture, it's fricking everywhere, even in the music. Please play a game before you try to criticize it other than "Muh slow gameplay" and "Muh Sinnoh"
>s (like, they couldn't give Jasmine a Magneton or Magnezone, or give Pyrce a Mamoswine?)
technically the rematches give them those
If any Johto leaders need team fixes, its Cocoon Boy and 2-mon Chuck.
>Technically the rematches gave them those.
True, but that's beside the point, the 6th and 7th gym leader shouldn't have unevolved Pokemon, Jasmine having only 2 Magnemites is the kicker here, they should have given her a Magneton at least as well as another Gen 2 steel type, like Scizor or Skarmory, Pokemmo gave her both and her fight feels way more appropriate thanks for it.
Bugsy could've easily been fixed by evolving his Kakuna and Metapod or by giving him a Ledian and Ariados. Scyther is already a pretty tough opponent for a second gym leader tbf.
No excuse for Chuck though, that man needs a Heracross and/or Hitmontop in his team.
Traditional japanese culture alone doesnt make a game. >Emerald is still the definitive way to experience Hoenn.
I mean ORAS distance themselves enough from the originals to be able to have their own personality and work as a standalone, being even lore-wise an alternate dimension. They have way more content than Emerald and the difficulty of the main story is alright with ex share off. They also have the best legendary trio rehearsal yet, their new designs and even competitively being still incredible, something that not even Legends managed with those 2 horseshit (literally) forms.
>HGSS will always reign as the definitive way to experience Johto
I dont know about that, I kinda cant stand the general style of them at all, I found myself more entartained by replaying Crystal as I like the layout, OST and retro artstyle more. Anyway I can't really disagree with that, if they failed at being superior than the originals theyd be plain puke material like lgpe and bdsp. that's not the point, the point is that Johto itself is the least inspired region and that hgss arent the best at anything really.
>kids have phones right? >what do you mean we should try and compete with mobile? >nah we’re going to strip these games down to nothing, these morons will buy it anyway
I would kill Masuda the second I had the chance.
>kids dont dedicate time to a single game so we'll remove features >heres a new game every year and we'll split Star version into 2 to get even more shekels
>out of context words change the reality of things
Masuda saying absurdities doesnt change that the consumerist is someone that would buy the same game, HGSS, not the one that would buy one that has actually more content. Your argument is that ORAS didnt have content that already existed replaced with something new? Hell, the 3D alone makes it worthier buying than all HGSS. Clearly your challenged brain doesnt see how things are really blinded by nostalgia, but a single new animation from ORAS is more new content than all of HGSS.
HGSS are easily the greatest games in the franchise. No matter how much gen 6 kids continue to cry about them, the majority of the fanbase will remember hgss as the greatest games in the franchise.
I fear that the next Johto remake will be a disaster. They will probably be completely faithful remakes of Gold & Silver, with no improvement, no shred of ambition, no soul and ugly art design just like BDSP.
>cries over USUM >le oras dont have le tower from le emerald
Self contradiction and hypocrisy at its worst
The moronic tower is literally all theres new to emerald and you bought that tower at full price
mantine surfing, updated soundtrack, new z moves, 3 new forms for necrozma, new ultra worlds, new osts, new locations and buildings here and there, new plotline, cutscenes and dialogues, new "champion", new dimensional ride minigame, new catchable legendaries with said minigame, expanded lore, new learnable moves
Probably other things i didnt think of, and a new transformation mechanism for necrozma
Also mantine surf is the best minigame in all of pokemon and its literally surfing inbetween the islands. thats the essence of a videogame not a fricking tower
>didn't fix Johto's level scaling >didn't fix Johto Pokemon distribution >didn't fix Johto Gym Leaders >Safari Zone is a timesink and therefore sucks >instead of making the Gen 1 cities full they opted for a more authentic cut down version of Kanto when it was only done because boomer carts were limited in space but they no longer have this limitation with DS carts

What are you taking about? Nearly all of Kanto restored. Blaine even as a gymz
Zone is a timesink and therefore sucks
this is a fundamental misunderstanding of the mechanic, there are only like 6 pokemon locked behind dailies (and several of them, like metang, can be obtained outside of the safari zone anyway)
the intent was also clearly to get people to share their custom safaris with other players online but you obviously cant do that anymore on an emulator in 2023

Oh like me? Yeah, I don't deify HGSS though, because I understand they needed to add Crystal's story and "features" as filler to distract from the fact they'd ported a game smaller than 2MB in filesize to DS and needed some extra stuff to distract children with.
Well, I wasn't a child, didn't care for the nu-gen distraction "content" and preferred Platinum as an experience (an opinion held by most of 2010's /vp/). So anyone who does hold an opinion as OP's clearly didn't play the originals, thus must be of Gen 4 vintage (as Hoennbabs all claim Emerald is best-in-series).
No, but I'm not sure if you call it high school or secondary. But teenagers are big boys, as opposed to little boys in the previous school stream, or slackers dodging college.
>Platinum, HGSS, BW, BW2

Because you have shit taste

is right, the decline started with the 3DS games.

Legends is the first good Pokemon game since HGSS

Sorry, but no. after playing gen 5, it's impossible to play gen 4 again.
They never tried again except for BW2. Its not even that good it's just that they actually tried for once.
if they're so good why aren't they the most sold game
so true
sales correlate with quality and not market.

It’s 3D rendered thus not as good as anything made in 2D
Of all the 3D rendered games, it wins
I don’t like Gen 3 or anything that comes after it but I’d take Gen 3 over any 3D rendered Pokémon game

I should replay HG.
same but with SS
But it sucks for replays there’s like 5 good mons in the region
