Looks like ass and you're probably a furgay.
No fricking shit you dumbass, of course I am
coco is underage and exclusively for her brother to have incestuos sex with
I'm pretty sure he's not even biologically related to her. Frankly I'm not even sure how she was elevated like Crash and the other experiments. We know N.Brio was responsible for the Trophy Girls from CTR, but I can't see him doing that to her between Crash 1 and 2 and it somehow going totally unremarked upon to this day. My best guess as to how it actually worked out is that Cortex and Brio found Uka Uka in a cave and came to some agreement to blend his mystical esoteric powers with their technology, and used it to create weird animal hybrid slaves. Crash escapes for whatever reason and Aku Aku helps him to defeat the people making an abomination of nature. Between games Aku Aku decides to use his own power to elevate Coco to develop skills to fight technological threats that he and Crash alone wouldn't be prepared for? He seems to regard both Coco and Crash as "his children."
>protagonist was clearly drawn by a gay furgay
Miss me with this shit.
>protagonist was designed to be attractive instead of checking DEI boxes
There's gay porn of your favorite protagonist. There's gay porn of your favorite protagonist BECAUSE he's well designed.

>MUSIC: Legendary David Wise (known for his iconic compositions in classic platformers) arranged ALL the music for the game!
Then why the FRICK did they use that shitty song for the trailer?
Yeah I admit, that is my biggest complaint about that trailer. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people thought the game was slop simply because the music was absolute slop

Why does every indie game have the same blocky cartoon art style?
Because it fits the cartoon look, is more efficient to port and makes for better performance? Wild thought.
It's also bland and boring
I didn't think a response could be more feminine.
Sonic, Crash, and Spyro were all out at the same time and looked noticeably different, indies devs commonly copy each others homework whenever one of them makes something successful.
Making more rounded models and environments is hard :~~*~~*
Unironically, I think devs were tainted by Toys for Bob since most of this shit is similar looking to Skylanders and Crash 4.
>I think devs were tainted by Toys for Bob
I will never forgive them.
thats just sad
Even new prince of persia has a general artstyle that would fit spyro better than cobblestone and giant, uneven rocks
It's easier to ape than retro's dkc artstyle.
What having too much compute power does to a mf
>WTF WHY DOES THIS PS4 GAME HAVE MORE DETAIL THAN A PS1 GAME???? REEE SOULLESS SOULLESS
Every time.
You're the type of person who thinks dumping 15 different paints on a canvas makes it better than doing some simple with a few because more = good.
>NOOOO STOP ADDING DETAILS
how would you do it then exactly
he would take all the details out, and have the game be an audiobook where the events of the games are recounted to you from a half-drunk anon.
if there was a defenitive way to capture what he wants. there would be some mods to make it.
but instead he will get fat fetish mods.
First of all I would listen to the original devs and didn't mess with colour for no reason. Second of all I would fix the architecture of the bridge thing. And third of all I would mow the fricking grass.
That's what it reminded me of. It's definitely the tfb art style that all these games are using. It's really ruining cartoony games with its cancer.
I dont know. is this what zoomers think banjo kazooie would look like nowadays? old 3D platformers didnt have this soulless aesthetic at all
If banjo kazooie got another game you bet your ass this is what it would look like
Not if it was made by someone who cares about art
When you're talking about 3D platformers, there's a need to make the distinction between where the play can and cannot go and which surfaces have which properties. It's much easier to do this if there are hard lines between surfaces and textures which strongly indicate the slopes of those surfaces. These used to be easier because the limitations of older hardware essentially forced these conditions such as straight edges, grid aligned geometry and a clear distinction between in bounds areas and out of bounds areas on all 3D games and it didn't feel like a compromise in a 3D platformer.
Now, imagine a 3D platformer with realistic graphics or more complicated geometry, there would be times where there are places it looks like you should be able to go, but can't because they're not actually part of the level, and places where it looks like you can't go even though they ARE part of the level. This problem was already starting to happen in the PS2 era, it would be even worse now. The "Toys for Bob/Skylanders" style is not a case of imitation, it's a case of design goals and the desire to impress and create the impression of innovation being in conflict. They want pretty, stylized environments with small details and visual interest, but they need the visual clarity and
gameplay consistency of low poly geometry with low resolution textures without bumpmaps or displacements, so we get a weird mix that only kind of captures the visual style of the concept art.
>there would be times where there are places it looks like you should be able to go, but can't because they're not actually part of the level, and places where it looks like you can't go even though they ARE part of the level
But that's the EXACT issue Toys for Bob have. Bad color use and readability of the level's geometry by having things be overpopulated is why people shit on their art style.
That was the point I was making. The logical extreme, the clutter and other problems can't simply be offset by adding more clutter and visual noise designed to direct the eye. The mechanics and feeling of 3D platformers are inherently tied to the first hardware on which they appeared. Not even Super Mario Odyssey was spared those problems. The need to promote the product as a step forward in graphical technology is inherently at odds with the needs of the game itself to be a success in the genre. Things that were taken for granted or assumed to be downsides of the limitations are actually critically important to the playability of the game. A lot of heavy lifting was done by the delineation between the good textures on gameplay objects and terrain and the lower quality ones on objects and terrain that aren't part of gameplay. If you saw a tree with big broad leaves, and it wasn't there for you to climb on it, the trunk would be like 12 polygons and the leaves would be low quality textures on two or four poly cards. If that tree was part of the level, the trunk would have many more polygons and better collision and the leaves would be full 3D models with collision. Now, unless your game is stylized to look like a game from back then, you can't just do that. You either need to go out of your way to make sure the player will never get anywhere if they try to interact with every single one of your background objects, or make all of your decoration in your levels also interactable at the same time as making sure not to place it anywhere that it may be mistaken for being an intended solution to a puzzle or the intended route the player is meant to take. There's also the inherent problem that everything in the game is fundamentally going to be sized and shaped based on the movement the character is capable of, which also makes it hard to break up the regimented sizes and shapes without creating false jumps that are just barely too long or too high.
Nobody talks about being hyper realistic, besides toys for bob games are chuck-full of clutter, visual noise and they lack in clarity.
Has the ultra sexy bawd design from the female wombat been revealed?
The one that made the female coworkers uncomfortable?
It was. The original design for Rivet didn't even have cleavage or anything even approaching suggestive. It was just the vague shape that implied there were breasts under her clothing, literally just the bare minimum visual indication to distinguish her body as female. It didn't make anyone uncomfortable, it was just an ideologically poisoned sycophant seeing it and saying "I bet men will jerk off to that, I don't want that to happen." Who told them to change it to "de-objectify" a perfectly innocent and reasonable character design and went around claiming it was a huge victory in empathy and consideration. I was disappointed to see it, to be honest. I thought it would have been closer to some of the female characters from the earlier games, which there might have been the slightest bit of a point in changing, but it wasn't
Was any of this?
Yeah, one of those is the design that caused the problem, probably the one on the bottom left, if I had to guess. But man, they really missed out by not going for the one on the bottom right instead of the character who's functionally identical to Ratchet. Having the animal character being the small one tagging along with the big robot would make for fun new mechanics. I think there's also a pretty good easy joke they could have made by making the big counterpart to Clank look more like the big robots he was a defect of. Because that would imply that they were intentionally mass producing Clanks as combat robots and considered an actually useful robot an unacceptable defect.
These protagonists look stiff and not cartoony enough like Crash and Coco OR Diddy and Dixie Kong.
>Nikocadoderiko
took way too long for this to be posted. Honestly any time this game is brought up, coinslot should be spammed
>see that they made a version to playtest but not an official steam page
c'mon devs
Looks interesting... But hope the music is not like the one in the trailer
nah, it's music from the show since it was a quick segment
Well, we're not getting another DKC or Crash game any time soon so might as well
david wise is composing for this game though, pair that with the dkc inspired levels and we might have some actual good shit here
More DKC clones please
updated my journal
I know you’re one of the devs shilling here considering you visit /trash/ and /mlp/, just stop
is it really so hard to just ignore schizos doing their schizo routine
You’ve used this EXACT same image for other furry games. You’re a shill
I refer you to:
looks AI generated
Looks moronic enough, may buy it but first i'll judge by pirating it
3D platformer enjoyer here, I will gladly add this alongside Astro Bot, Yooka Replayee and Sonic x Shadow Generations on my (pathetically small) list of upcoming games to look forward to.
To all the homosexual haters in this thread, what other new or recent 3D platformers would you suggest I play?
Nice animation but the gameplay looks like mobile autorunner for kids/girls.
Looks like Crash Bandicoot and Donkey Kong Country gameplay to me. Only really shit part about the trailer was the shitty pop song they used
Crash is 3d and in here it just looks like moving forward at all times.
The game occasionally changes its angle to sonics ass and then it plays like Crash Bandicoot, it even has Boulder Dash levels where you run towards the camera while being chased by a giant monster
more gameplay
?si=UnHSTdE5NV68Cziu
Not a fan of the character designs but the gameplay actually looks really slick
erm, we already have a "Donkey Kong Country at home" cartoon platformer game.
>Microids
For a kid game, it doesn't look that bad
Forgetting someone?(again)
Holy hell all these games look the fricking same lmao. Is Kaze the only DKC style game that has a unique art style?
Kaze just look diferent on your eyes because is 2d.
If it had 3d models would be the same thing.
>using ears for climbing
sovl
It'd only look the same if they purposefully made it that way
You can see the soul being drained away in real time.
Honestly, her character design isn't that great, even though it improved with each draft.
I really like the final version, personally
This looks fine and is really cheap on steam... So... May try it
I'd only buy it if it's on sale. The game is pretty easy and short, even with the free extra dinosaur stages update.
To me full price is 9 bucks.
So yeah okay, I guess on a sale could be even cheaper
I like the 2D/3D mix of the levels, and it doesn't seem slow enough and I like the visual design on the levels. For a DKC clone looks neat.
But the characters' design seems stuck in an uncanny valley between cartoon mascots and blatant furry bait. Like they're trying to do both but fail at it
I think it works better for the girl than the guy, but I also want to give them some credit for coming up with a mongoose as their inspiration because finding a unique animal to use for your furry platformer these days sure can't be easy lmao
Too furry
Shit gameplay
Why the dated pop song?
Literally just copying level design from better games and doing it poorly
Everything is awkwardly zoomed out with lots of dead space
Everything is overdetailed and underanimated where it's supposed to count... enemies just plip off the play area when you kill them and it's very obvious when they're walking on slanted terrain
>scaly = vore
Level design is chaotic
Bad level transitions
Wow. What's wrong with his eyes?
>What's wrong with his eyes?
You tell me
Gas all furgays
So few people noticed that it just says "Nintendo" and not "Nintendo Switch"
Imagine taking up so much of the public mindshare that people associate all video game consoles with your company's name and your response is to "UM, ACTUALLY" them
>your response is to "UM, ACTUALLY" them
because if everyone starts referring to every game as a "nintendo", the trademark would be invalid
Kino
There is funny antropomorphic designs and then there is furgay bait
Guess which one is this
Cute anthropomorphic animal designs are usually only found in Asian media I tend to find, western anthrompomorphic art is almost completely dominated by grotesque, perverse, over fetishized furgay shit because they're freaks who want to frick animals.
former, and both.
actually anything furry is furgay bait tbh
furgay bait for sure
which is redundant because I would find the cartoony designs sexy regardless.
Why are indie devs incapable of designing cool and charming mascots? You would think that that the generation that experienced shopping with their moms at Blockbuster and trying out a game based solely on what the main character on the box looked like would understand this.
main artist is definitely a furgay, possibly a diapergay also
based but I don't believe the diapergay thing because if that was true we'd definitely have some furry e-girls and shotas in this game and the trailer indicated no such thing
girl looks fricking ugly compared to coco
How do we stop the Toys For Bob art style takeover?
I wonder what would happen if you just did the artstyle of old 5th generation games but not low poly.
I'm hoping there's more 3D sections than the footage they're showing lets on. If they're as few and far between in the game as they are in this footage I question why they even bothered.
I like the concept of finally getting a new DKC/Crash hybrid game but the gameplay looks like they don't have the little things down, it's very stuff and mid. It would take a lot of polish from here to get it into a decent state, and I don't think they're going to considering they're apparently releasing this year.
I'm also not into the character design of the main dude, but I'd be more than willing to overlook that if the gameplay was quality.
*stiff
>ALL OF MY WANT.
how long ago was this? I almost dont want to watch the trailer now because of this
15 years ago more or less.
Thats one ugly ass art style.
Couldn't stand the music that kicked in 25 seconds in, I'll pass on this one.
Dunno why they used that generic pop song, the game's soundtrack is being composed by David Wise
maybe david went nuts
It could be a Robin Williams Genie situation, where he didn't want his name to be the main thing used in trailers so people would buy the game solely because it has his name attached to it. Considering it's a new studio you maybe don't want your reputation tarnished if the game bombs.
they got david wise and went with generic pop song for the trailer? man what a decision
It's a rule that trailers have to use the most generic painful music possible
I am absolutely desperate for really well-made platformers, but this doesn't look like it has the gamefeel right.
looks meh
For the people that hate this artsyle, how should the game look instead?
Bring your example of how should it look
Like it isn't a webcomic drawn by furries. It looks like...ya remember that one comic about adult furries that wear diapers that used to be spammed here sometimes? Looks like that.
>how should the game look instead?
i will now play your game
Imagine aping It's About Time of all things haha
Anything else really, even just the Crash/Spyro/Skylanders TFB artstyles would be an improvement- this looks like a TFB game stripped of the most basic design notions and run through e621.
Hell, I'd say all the other games posted ITT bar Yooka-Laylee would be an improvement
>Yooka-Laylee would be an improvement
the normal one or the "replaylee"?
do you want more lense flare?
who asked for this?
probably the developers, thinking that they could fix what people complain about their game.
Do you prefer shaved laylee or bushy laylee?
I'm honestly disappointed that they couldn't be arsed to actually redesign the characters to be less generic and more appealing.
They're still gonna have that same ugly model of a literal fridge NPC in the game.
dont know how much the thing would need to look for people to like it?
specially seeing how people hate all platformer characters looks over here.
>specially seeing how people hate all platformer characters looks over here.
I like all the classic ones, indie devs just need to git gud.
which are the classics ones?
mario? sonic?
Mario, Sonic, Banjo-Kazooie, Kirby, Rayman, Spyro, Klonoa, Ratchet & Klank... Bubsy.
I don't even have high standards it just feels like indie devs don't know how a cartoon character is supposed to look.
>That visual design
No fricking thanks
is missing soul
this cringe-ass post sounds like it was written by a dev themself, and this picture they've posted is a bit too...official.
It was literally one of the first images I could find on google. There aren't a lot of pictures of the game yet, only the trailer
now explain the rest of your post, are you a time-traveller from 2011, perhaps?
I'm 33 years old, the game reminded me of of my favorite childhood games, in my excitement I accidentally used an old meme phrase that I used to say back when new games still made me excited
>every single character is barefoot
finally a game for me
>Super Luckys Tale but horny
no thanks
what is horny?
>Apes the Super Lucky's Tale/Crash 4 its about Time artstyle
>Goes through the same bunch of generic worlds, tropical, ice, lava and cave
>The cast is without any distinct personality or any originality
>The name is literal nonsense, you can barely pronounce or remember it right
When the frick are we getting a actual original platformer for once? I don't want to see the same regurgitated stuff
Why are the japanese the only ones who can create mascot characters? Why does everyone else make either ugly or generic TFB looking shit?
Would you share your Japanese mascot platformer characters with the class?
Specially if it isn't over 10 years old?
I guess Astros plays counts
>Specially if it isn't over 10 years old?
Why is that a requirement?
Because if you want to make the point that nips are the only ones that can make good looking mascot characters in modern vidya, you need to back that up with a nip mascot character from a modern vidya and not a fricking old one
>mascot characters in modern vidya
In general
In general, I say the West have a better track record
I thought hello kitty raped disney when it comes to mascot characters
You're free to think what you want but it wouldn't change the fact that you're objectively wrong
I'm sure you have proof that Mickey and his gang is bigger than Hello Kitty and all her Sanrio friends
Mostly to try not having nostalgia tinted Google's and you go "full soul" while thinking something like Bonk is a master piece.
But not being able to direct us to a current example
Bonk is kino and Hudson's most underrated IP. Frick you.
Yeah, but were is the 3d version that ruin him?
There were gonna be new Bonk games way back when being developed for digital storefronts, but those were canned.
It got restructured into Bomberman Hero.
....no, seriously, that was originally going to be a Bonk / AirZonk game before it got turned into Bomberman instead, hence why it's a bomberman game that is a weird 3D platformer instead of a bomberman game
Bonk was made at the time where the whole stereotype of japs being the only ones to design appealing mascots was even more true. Everyone shits on american boxart in old games for a reason.
>furgay shit
into the trash it goes
>obvious furgay bait is obvious
>99% they were designed by a super homosexual furry
>the girl isn't cute enough
redesign her and make her the protagonist and I will consider giving this a chance
how you make her cute?
She looks Nala from Lion King but with an extra chromossome.
make her neck smaller would help
another way is to have the modeler be an expert in female anatomy
then wouldnt be a mongoose
neither of them look like mongoose in the first place
>make her neck smaller would help
she's a Mongoose though
She is fricking adorable, I don't get what that anon is on about. Yeah sure Niko looks a bit aggressively like a sexy furry, but the girl is a top tier adorable tomboy that's constantly looking at the MC like a girl with a crush
she's cute as frick tho?
>she's a mongoose
>posts merkaats
this tbh
I kinda wish they made the main character differnet , not red with cream face/belly and blue pants like crash
this
his color pallet is just waayy too similar to crash
Low key confirmed for Switch 2 but it's releasing 2024? Maybe it has a boosted performance mode
looks like furry porn, not clicking that
>furgay shit
Go change your diaper, degen.
>Crash Bandicoot meets Donkey Kong Country
I love both of these franchises and I wouldn't even pirate this game. Back to the drawing board.
ugly characters
>when you try to get dall-e to generate crash bandicoot only using generic terms
what the frick is this character design
he kinda looks like he's from a shitty educational kid's show
The girl is adorable, stop being such gays
they're both ugly
>ALL OF MY WANT
How come 3d platformers are the only genre of game that use furry characters as the main character?
Platformer is a genre where the main characters move a lot so designs like these get a chance to shine. I guess there could be furry action games too.
I really like the concept of a half-donkeykongcountry, half-crashbandicoot game, but it kinda looks like the DKC half isn't very well-made. The Crash half looks okay but I don't think Crash gameplay is as interesting even if you get it right.
It's a shame, because it looks like the devs managed to do some things quite well, but the core gameplay really needs to be rock solid otherwise it's hard to want to play.
They really need to upgrade their eye rendering tech. I also hate this "We want Dreamworks but also slightly anime" cartoon style. Commit to something. Also WHERE'S THE CONTRAST. The characters blend in to the environment too much.
>CONTRAST
boomer technology
I feel like modern UE made artists too obsessed with tonemapping shit and compressing the value ranges. Or it made it harder to actually get an artistic touch to the final output, I don't know.
A lot of the automatic color grading, lighting, filtering and tone mapping settings in Unreal Engine are easy ways to make the game look better to executives and the uninformed audience without any extra dedicated effort. Everything trends towards looking the same, not because of some underlying property of the engine, but because the people who actually decide whether or not games get made think that it's a sign of quality. Fortnite's art style has almost nothing to do with its popularity and it is, for the most part, just inherited from the stupid throwaway budget game that it used to be, until they suddenly struck gold because The Culling and PUBG shit themselves at the same time.
I hate it when the average mobile-focused game has a better art direction/aesthetic to my eyes, due to the limited hardware forcing them to not have 50 post-process filters adjusting every single pixel being rendered. At least until they get to the point where UE5 garbage becomes standard on there as well and it also hits the "everything is fricking blurry/upscaled in motion" state on top.
what game. deer/goat thing looks cool.
Caravan Stories. Gatcha shit, runs terrible. Typical case of great art aesthetic ruined by the gameplay.
Why can't people make cute looking characters?
I like the one on the right more than the left. There's more personality.
The characters in the OP don't even look like the one on the right, they just look like generic deviantart furries.
>left, soulless generic anime animal
>right, SOVL and brimming with personality that you can pick up on just by looking at him
>naming your game Nikocado
ISHYGDDT
>ALL OF MY WANT.
look im not usually a shill schizo but if im ever going to pull the shill card it has to be on this.
>another boring 2D indie platformer
>absolutely SHIT art style
No thanks
What kind of games do you like for comparison?
Bubbsy 3?
>the main villain is ANOTHER reptile
I'm so sick of this trope. More of them should be good guys like Yoshi or Gex.
It's incredible that our society has advanced to a point that a statement like that instantly outs you as gay.
Do You want to trust in cobras?
I'd rather trust in a cobra than a tiger or a pig
this is the hero you want
Just looks like a Bowser knockoff.
It's releasing after 2007, so it will be garbage.
Looks like a furry fetish game. They can’t even hide it properly anymore.
