A shitty c# program that ChatGPT wrote for me. I was trying to make an edge detector and put a minimal spanning tree algorithm on the pixel weights because I thought it might make a funny maze.

Being able to play online and Hawlucha is what got me back into Pokemon, but the following games just kept getting worse and worse.
My Shiny Perfect IVs/Nature Hawlucha will stay in my 3DS forever.
Sun/Moon was my favorite 3DS game. This trailer was fricking SOUL and it was the first Pokemon game where I gave a damn about the characters.
also the Ultra Beasts are by far the best concept yet for Legendaries. I'm glad Muscle Hombre made it to Pokemon Unite.
I had a lot of fun with my first playthrough with SM, it genuinely felt like the ultimate Pokémon game. Then USUM came around and I saw all the flaws in it, and I soon lost interest in Pokémon after that. I still emulate the new games (except LGPE and BDSP, frick them) because I enjoy that rush I get from Pokémon, but it's not really the same. I'm huffing copium for PLZA and Gen X, I really hope GF pulls their finger out for them (even though I know they won't, lmao).
Gen x will be medicore, but legends z will game almost kino.
yeah I couldn't even finish Ultra Sun. It felt really lazy and I guess it didn't help that I never bothered before with any of the third versions outside Pokemon Crystal, which was also my last Pokemon game before I bought the 2DS Bundle with the pre-installed Pokemon Y.

Turned 17 in 2013 and it’s what got my friends interested in Pokémon again to the point we really got into VGC for 2014 and 15, but even just with the online features it had via PSS seemed very good at the time (by Nintendo’s standards). Then Sun and Moon happened and I still cannot understand the rationale of why they got rid of PSS, Super Training and so forth for systems that were undeniably worse.

It does. You just have to fiddle around with some settings, but I was able to get Mega Man Legends running at full speed. Now I'm seething about the fact that they cancelled Legends 3
it emulates "all right." i would recommend a psv instead if you want to run ps1, adrenaline runs ps1 games pretty much perfectly using built-in sony shit.
Yes. It emulates 3D games pretty well, it does slow down in 1 room on SotN for some reason because of a 3D effect in the background.
As far as I know PS1 emulation on 3DS is only possible on the New 3DS. You're looking for PCSX-REarmed for Retroarch.

GBA is probably a safer bet, SNES emulation on the 3DS isn't perfect (which is why Nintendo kept it limited to the New models and only specially chosen titles)

My sentiment exactly. 3DS with all its custome themes and funny little badges was the peak of handheld SOVL. Though I recall some anon claiming that the real reason Nintendo did away with all of that is that the funny widgets were also a major source of exploits for hacking. So the minimalism meme may have been more of a covert anti-piracy measure for all the good it did. Regardless, it's a shame. How many years did it take Nintendo again just to add some custom avatars? The Switch UI is depressingly bland.

It also confirmed to me that it's not just rose-tinted glasses, the online multiplayer ecosystem really was better back then, because it felt exactly the same as it did back then. Meeting random people, chatting in pre- and post-game lobbies, setting up custom games, etc.
I don't know if it's the change in demographics or the fault of modern game design or what, but it's not just imagination or "old man yelling at cloud." Things really have gotten worse.

it's difficult to find good board level repairs, especially locally, and especially especially for (nowadays) niche hardware. and most of the people you might find online will probably just scam you and keep your system.
your best bet would be to see if nintendo will still do first party repairs on the thing. way back in the day, well past end of life for gba, i was still able to order parts for it from nintendo and they still claimed they'd repair it for quite a while after eol. that would be my rec.
that, or see if you can get a cheap used one on fb marketplace, ebay, or craigslist. buyer beware obv, make sure they can demonstrate it works.
I've tried to see if Nintendo will repair it, but I can't fill out one part of the form no matter what device I use.

no because they're encrypted with your device's keys. it'd probably be possible via hacks if you had your sd card slot working, but then the whole problem is you don't.
however, it's pretty trivial to hack a 3ds, so you could just hack the new one and re-download the games from a romsite and install them with fbi. it's not like you're going to get banned now that online services are fully dead (not that getting banned was common anyway; i never heard of anyone getting banned from 3ds for anything short of outright cheating in online or breaking street date on leaked games).
