Many games drop to 15 FPS or so on Switch. A bad PS5 port can reach mid 20s but they're much rarer. But it's comparing a device weaker than mobile phones to a mediocre midrange PC from 2 years ago.

Maybe one day we will get to a point in technology where even when Nintendo holds their hardware back we can still get good quality running frames and resolution stuff.

come the frick on, you don’t seriously believe this do you? It is MAYBE comparable to those two consoles in power but not even close to twice the power. But honestly, I would still expect the switch to be weaker than either of those.

He's right, otherwise how do you explain the entire crysis trilogy running and looking better on switch. Remember, a 1440x900p resolution is higher than a 1152x720 resolution.

        Anonymous

The Switch has a weaker GPU than the PS3/360 while undocked but the GPU is better than those old consoles while docked. The GPU isn't twice as strong while docked but the Switch has more RAM. The RAM makes a gigantic fricking difference so it ends up being stronger. It can run PS3/360 games, the issue is those games get remastered for devices stronger than the Switch and it gets fricked over from that. The PS4/PS5 is often the baseline, it's the main platform that developers target first and then everything is either upgraded or downgraded from there. Whatever console is the leader ends up being the baseline like that, the 360 was the baseline during its generation. A game aimed at a Switch/PC only release would most likely have the Switch as the main platform, PC is usually the afterthought with some exceptions like BG3 and Cyberpunk 2077.

              >Rocksteady patched it
Bullshit, it's still not possible to maintain a solid 60 fps without it dropping especially when using the batmobile.
Modders fixed the actual issue as usual.

              >Even after a row of update patches, the game did not run quite decently on many mid-range PCs, with players reporting frame pacing and major stuttering issues. However, if you're still playing the game (or are looking to revisit the franchise) and want to smooth out your experience, here is a fan-made fix that you'll want to check out.

              >The fix comes from a modder that goes by the name SherielFarouk, who has managed to fix the texture streaming system that was responsible for causing stuttering in the game. Although I am not a coding expert, the modder also creating something that's called a texture pool on top of D3D11, which allows textures to be reused (I have no idea what that means).

              >Here is what SherielFarouk had to say about the fix. "I grabbed the source for ReShade (to use the API hooking/interception) and implemented a texture pool on top of D3D11, so the game remains unaware it exists yet gets the performance benefits from the texture reuse," the modder said. "It seemed to fix the issue for me and now I get a mostly locked 60 FPS game, so here's hoping it works for other people."

Honestly, I didn't mind the Switch being weak because it is mobile ARM hardware made in 2015 and launched in 2017. For what we got back then, it was just great to be able to run games even the Vita would shit itself on like Borderlands 2.
However it has been 6 years and 8 months and no new console or even pro version. You need a lot of optimization to put modernish games on it and that often just means lower res, blurring, quality drops and long load time.
Year 4 or 5 is when they should have released a successor we are now rapidly approaching year 7 and there is no device or date. It doesn't really bother me personally because I mostly play 2D games at 60fps and have a Deck for heavier stuff but still... it's overdue.

My guess is that Nintendo was the one who funded the ports (Like what did with Arkham games on Wii U) The game was supposed to come out in 2021 or so to help market the OLED model when it was new but the game was stuck in development hell trying to figure out how to make it playable on Switch. What we see is the best result they can do with the hardware and now they have to release it to make the profit back

Usually it's because they're casuals who only have one game system and own 10 games or they like handhelds, bought a Switch years ago and don't want to blow $400+ Steam on a Deck instead of $30 on a game and play it at 30fps.
Personally I still get lightweight games on the Switch Lite because unlike my Deck I actually take it places beyond the nightstand.

I'm honestly inclined to blame both the Switch/Nintendo AND the devs here.
    >the Switch has shown its difficulties for third-party devs more and more with every year, they REALLY need new hardware ASAP because it IS a chore to expect third-parties to put up with architecture roughly on the power equivalent of nearly TWENTY-year-old systems; hell, even Nintendo's own studios are hitting a wall with its power I'm not counting Game Freak here either, they've been hopeless morons from the start
    >however, the Switch has also been in dev hands for seven fricking years now and these are not remotely new or particularly technically intense PS4/Xbone games to begin with; they had a WEALTH of time to familiarize themselves with the platform

Maybe Arkham Shart should cut back on the graphics. My favorite indies run well on the Switch, what's their excuse?

    >b-but they're pixelshit
And how is that my problem? graphics don't matter.

        It's not bait. They're right.

There is not and has never been such a thing as a game that cannot be on a platform, only a dev too lazy to make a platform specific version of a game like the did 30 years ago but don't do now because it's easier to slap the same garbage on everything.

I checked, yeah the cartridge only contains Arkham Asylum. The other games are downloadable, Arkham City is 11gb, Arkham Knight is 27gb

What's the point of owning physical games anymore?

As long as they're not code in a box having to download data is ok, pretty much no game is day one complete 0 patches ever nowadays.

The switch audience would have to be absolutely pants on head moronic for that to happen, so maybe.

    >Nintendo Switch to another hardware immediately
Is this ESL or a 'Pokemon GO-to-the-polls' level of joke?

It's hilarious to me that the switch struggles this hard to run games older than it is. Games that had to be specifically neutered just to try and get it to run on that hardware. And they're asking $60 for only 3 decade old games when humble just had a deal on pc that was practically giving all 4 of the batman games and a bunch of other big wb games away.
Normalgays I can understand, they're clueless, but why anyone here has stuck with the switch is beyond me.

The original 2 came out on the 360 and PS3 they can't be any worse on the switch, Arkham Knight would be the problem game.

Doesn't even look that bad or unplayable, and I if you want to talk unplayable. I played this shit at launch on PC.
