Let’s talk about one of the best action games ever made.
No Souls bashing. If you like Nioh you obviously like Souls too. Ignore trolls, you know that Nioh is goat.
Katana is the best weapon after all. Backwave into Dragon Fang into Ippon soul core ability is unfathomly kino.
Looking forward to Wo Long expeditions bros

>No Souls bashing
Impossible. Shitting on Souls (because it's popular) is at the core of being a Niohgay.
You really can't help yourself, can you?
Frick off gay.
Based. Fists are just too good. How do I force myself to use other weapons?
I played fists for before moving onto katana in dream of the wise to change it up. Fists are good for decimating Ki with Battering Ram, but Swords have Sword Ki and a skill similar to Battering Ram that does good Ki damage. For human enemies in particular, Katana is a lot more fun.
>Based. Fists are just too good. How do I force myself to use other weapons?
My longest character in endgame uses Axe and Fists. Axe for destroying Ki of defensive opponents (humans especially), Fists for chasing those quick enemies and fighting superfast bosses that require quick reaction times.
Weapons are fairly well balanced, better question is how do you stop using Kasha Soul Core for how overpowered it is? Nothing even compares, you basically summon an extra friend that can kill mid-sized enemies all on its own, chunk a good health out of any boss and heals you back to full with its lifesteal. Also sets the enemies on fire. Beyblade is hands down the best Soul Core in the game.
this. i remember when i liked both, but that was only because i was still bad at nioh
Playing Nioh did make me realize how jank and outdated souls combat is.
It's just the objective truth. Sekiro tried to improve but that sadly turned into a boring 2 button rhythm game.
>rhythm game
All that needs to be said:
>Souls fans are a great illustration of why marketing something as hard attracts the worst kind of player. They're not attracted to an engagingly challenging game, they're attracted to the ego trip of being "good" at a hard game. Souls is the game that had the most clout, and you can disingenuously call yourself a highly skilled player by internalizing knowledge of a group of overtuned systems and overall game knowledge. You can absolutely side step a lot of challenge in the series when you follow certain strategies, grind etc.
>Sekiro is the unironic "git gud" game. Not to say it's some sort of super punishing masterclass of game design, but there aren't really any strategies to massively decrease the challenge of most enemies. Even things like firecrackers only let you get a a few extra hits in to at best allow you to deplete one of a boss' multiple health bars. Having to actually engage with actual movesets and enemy patterns is something a lot of players don't want to do, and resent having to do. "No variety" just equates to "can't sidestep engaging with the game". This is a big part of the low IQ "rhythm game" shit, as if learning enemy patterns and acting accordingly is somehow unique to Sekiro, and somehow a bad thing. Also shows how shallow people's understanding of the game is, considering how often it's better not to lean on deflecting as your staple strategy.

Nioh gameplay is extremely janky though.

Souls series is better.
It sucks how lacking the nioh mod scene is. There are literally no decent mods. Nexus is filled with costume mods and save files. I just play the calamity's pulse mission over and over again.
I keep coming back to it, I should stop uninstalling.

Truth hurts.
I put elden ring above every dark souls game but below the other ones, BB is still the best soulslike FromSoft has ever done, Sekiro isnt one and it's an amazing action game. Nioh games are amazing as well and once you get used to it it does feel different to soulslike
I hope wo long will have a similar quality of combat as nioh 2
I tried to get into other weapons but always fall back to the odachi. Moonlit snow just feels so right
what’s a good ki depletion combo for odachi?
For humans; triangle, square, triangle, square. I don't remember the names of the skills but the ones that make you switch stances called sunset breeze or something. For yokai, just spam the move where you hit them with the hilt.
I’ve been doing a hatchets build on way of the nioh and just finished base game, doing like 11k damage per throw with optimized stats
>odachi
ultimate pleb easymode weapon
What are the chances that they bring back the mobility of ninja gaiden? I miss having a jump button.
They are doing that for Wo long, if you are talking about Team Ninja. It's confirmed
Humanoid enemies block too much and that kinda kills the flow of combat
homie just equip fists with mid and high stance and you just melt through their defense in no time.
True but Yokai rarely defend at all, so its a nice balance of variety in the type of enemies you face. Usually a good idea to have movesets and weapons that can destroy Ki of blocking opponents and a weapon that has quick dash or quick sweeping attacks to catch enemies that dodge dash sideways all the fricking time.
Remember any time someone mentions "the flow of combat" what they actually mean is "my ability to keep smashing buttons and have things happen"
Yea and if you lack the ability the flow gets broken.
more like the ability to always be doing things, be they defensive or offensive
just break them just smack them harder just use high stance just get ki damage
My wishlist for nioh 3:
>More built-in incentives for swapping guardian spirits and weapons mid fight
>Visible stat grouping during smithing and stat search filter
>Configurable auto-dismantling
>Extend loot filter to filter stats
>Streamlined inheritable stats like the one for yokai abilities
>Fill the unused button combinations for axe
my wishlist:
>add a mode that just does everything rpg-related for you
There's not going to be a Nioh 3.
Prepare for Wo Long.
that dragon looks like it's going to be a terrible boss fight
I played axe and odachi all Nioh because I like bigger numbers, what weapons should I main in Nioh 2?
>Poke you to death
A reminder that the humble spearman has always been the deadliest warrior.
>enemy using a spear
>thrusts outwards while holding the very end of the spear with their index finger and thumb while leaning forwards as far as possible for maximum possible range
>william/hide using spear
>holds it directly under the head and waves it at feet. thrusting? never heard of it
I hate spears in Nioh.
You hate spears because they play more like they should? I've played a lot of games, few if any, match Nioh when it comes to spear ludo.
>You hate spears because they play more like they should?
Spears are thrusting weapons, you motherfricker, that's even how the fricking enemies use them as I said I my post.
?
I finished Nioh 1 a couple of times (think I unlocked all difficulties), but I stopped playing Nioh 2 because it felt extremely punishing ki-wise. There were some bosses that killed me 500 times because their attacks (and the demon realm thing) would drain all my ki and left me without being able to move for like 5 seconds.
Just ki-pulse you tard.
your ki refills while using yokai abilities, throwing out things like the hammer is a good way to deal damage and take a breather at the same time
1 > 2
Only if you're more contrarian than human, or intensely upset that people can play as attractive female characters.
My whole experience with Nioh
>play it for the first time
>wtf this stamina mechanic its too hard and i have to juggle all these things around
>dropped somewhere after 2 hours
somewhere half a year later
>have nothing to play, lets give nioh a chance again
>wow you can do so much cool shit with those stances and stamina management and it feels so good
>play for about 20 hours, eventually got distracted by something and dropped, the amount of time i spent in inventory screen also felt bad and amount of reused levels left a bad aftertaste but overall i liked what i saw and how the game played.
a year later
>nothing to play again, lets try nioh again
>pick new weapon and start from scratch, finally managed to finish main story and almost all sidequests on first difficulty, took about 60 hours, had so much, still didn't liked how much time game expects you to spend looking at inventory screens but didn't mind reused levels this time was too engaged with gameplay.
>new difficulty, game throws even equipment at you with even bigger stats you have to be aware of, mobs are even more adhd and wreck your shit even harder
>start some mission where its basically a gauntlet of non stop yokais and bosses
>can't clear it, felt so bad and overwhelmed i lost desire to launch the game again
One day, i will reach the endgame you people kept talking about, those dream of nioh and dungeons and shit i know ill get there eventually, it would just take a year or two
Nioh have too much stuff in it for average non autistic person
>Souls
Based
>Elden Ring

Dogshit Simon Says combat
I think we can all agree normalhomosexuals love Shitkiro because they are literally told what to do step by step.
No adapting or thinking or observing moveset, you just press L1 on reaction
>vidrel never happens
souls shit is a joke, don't try to gain relevance by trying to associate yourself with Nioh you fromdrone.
>If you like Nioh you obviously like Souls too.
This is false. Both series are mutually exclusive and if you like both you're either a casual or lying.
Shit, guess I'm a filthy liar.
Or maybe you and your ilk are smooth-brained tribalistic morons who can't see the merits of both.
Sage because you're a stupid c**t.
I spent 300 hours on the second game alone. I tried to get back to it and I forgot most things. Like, I remember my combos and how to flux, but I forgot what most of my ninjitsu and other stuff does, what I was aiming for in terms of drops last time I played, and even some of the commands (yokai shift specially)
Is fists easymode?
yeah, its not even complicated with its skill stack mechanic
DSP ragequit Nioh 1 and 2 but barely had any trouble with Sekiro. He beat the last boss on the second try lol
Sekiro is so easy and simple a brainlet managed to beat it
Even when they fully agree with it, in public Nioh fans deny that Nioh and Souls are mutually exclusive. They do it because they want people to defect from Souls to Nioh, which wouldn't be possible if they close the door from the start.
Note how you never see the opposite: You never see a Nioh fan encouraging a fellow Nioh fan to play Souls, or a Souls fan encouraging a fellow Souls fan to play Nioh. It's always a Nioh fan trying to convince a Souls fans to play Nioh.
how do i stop being a shitter?
learn ki pulse, use all your stances and skills, learn to ki pulse stance swap so you can keep momentum going
Uninstall and play something else. The series isn't for you.
how about i uninstall your life dumb Black person
Look for a short guide to Niohs combat on youtube if you just don't figure it out by yourself, you should at least learn to flux
