Considering that the pokédex says that it's bad at flying, it's pretty damn hard to justify. Even Pokémon Stadium has it just running in the air when it uses Fly, yet it learns it over many pokémon with far larger wings.
Now that I think of it though, GF may have legimitalely been lazy as frick with which pokémon can learn fly and just quickly selected all the ones with Flying as a primary type to learn it + Mew who probably just had all moves set to learnable without a second thought

She's introverted, unable to speak her mind at first and even after she breaks out of her shell a little, she still overthinks situations and puts other people and Pokémon before her own wants. This empathy has also been useful at times since the Pokémon they're looking for are too powerful to subdue in combat and she's been able to figure out how to appease them in other ways.
The other girls in the crew are the fiery ship mechanic, a goth nurse and a hikkikomori tech expert who doesn't like leaving her room and is secretly a popular video creator while wearing a costume. There's variety.

They copied their inspiration Yatterman to the end. Jessie, James and Meowth have a falling out after one final attempt at capturing Pikachu, go back to Team Rocket HQ where they start taking on other jobs separately, realize they feel unsatisfied, they all chance upon Ash who's finally figured out what being a Pokémon Master means to him and set out on a new journey, and they decide to get back together and chase Pikachu for the rest of their days. A nothing ending, but it was hard to expect something else after so long.

The only connection to the games is Terapagos from the upcoming SV DLC, but it's looking like its story and lore in the anime will be mostly original anyway. The rest is entirely separate, from the group of protagonists who are all OCs, to them traveling across regions on an airship, to their goal which is tracking down six Pokémon that belonged to an ancient adventurer who was searching for the place Terapagos came from. Rayquaza is one of them, then there are a giant Arboliva, Galarian Moltres, Lapras, Kleavor and Entei. Each is in its region of origin so there's an arc in each of them with characters from the games sometimes appearing to help them. The villain group going after Terapagos is all original too.
Sounds like just a really long movie, which was arguably always the best part of the anime.

They need to have revolving cast of main characters every five to ten years, You can't have it be like with Ash where he would lose at the league or to an elite four member every generation for the last 20+ years.
The current anime feels like it's being written to last a couple years or about 100 episodes. The cast's goal is clear and isn't the kind that can just be reset to zero. They don't even do filler episodes and it's always plot and/or character development.
