It is a really mixed bag. The battle system is really good and directly led to 13's, which was serviceable but needed minor reworkings to become truly good, which 13-2 provided. Shame they've abandoned ATB and CTB entirely, although the latter has been massively improved by Kiseki.
The battle system is OK, not amazing, but that makes it the best thing the game has to offer. It's a game about a singer, but there's no amazing catchy tunes besides the one in the intro, and hot Girls are good but all of their outfits look moronic, besides their main ones, which are great. He cooked with 13 though, I love that game.
>but there's no amazing catchy tunes besides the one in the intro
I really like the OST. Thousand Words is really good but so are many of the environmental and story tracks.
Absolutely filtered. It has one of the best battle systems in the series and a whole lot of variety and replayability. It's one of the highest IQ FF games out there together with 2, 8, XIII-2 and LR.

CTB is pretty boring though. I wish we had more of X-2's spin on ATB. It's weird no RTWP RPG has dared to copy the class changing thing.
>Missing out on the best FF battle system
Your loss
It's fricking nowhere near XIII or XV. Hell, it's not even bad. Sure, it fricks up a lot of the themes of the first game, but it's an absolute campy romp, and a blast to play.
it was kind of jarring buying it on release while knowing next to nothing about it aside from it was a sequel to X, but I still ended up enjoying it for the most part.
Yuna's characterization is actually extremely on point, as evidenced by the "It sucks" monologue. The entire time she's been trying to fill in the void where Tidus was by pretending to be him and it hasn't worked at all. 13-3, Blitzball Bombs aside, makes the right choice by having Yuna revert to a shrine maiden.
of course not, there is no way it could give a gay guy a boner, it's really not the game for you.
To be fair, men in Spira dress like cheap prostitutes too.
I had just gotten 100% in FFX and figured I'd try this game. Got a copy for like 8$ for ps2. I got filtered by the first boss and never touched it again. Frick this game
Until the PS2 era the FF games alternated between games where characters all had well defined classes and games where the characters could change jobs/roles at will.
X was the former, X-2 was the latter.
This was before the 2016 zoomer takeover when no one gave a shit about 'muh female characters' and the culture war. We could actually discuss vidya without chuds constantly autistic ally screach about 'muh woke'.
The worst ff game. Even worse than 15.

No, that would be IX: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14012757/1/Everything-Wrong-with-Final-Fantasy-IX
>unironically posting a fanfiction.net link
The review isn’t just on fanfiction you know, it’s also on AO3.
After binging on FFX-2 I would go away and watch some Sailor Moon / Totally Spies / Kim Possible
what are you gay?
AND THOUGH
I KNOW
>you get those hot babes away from me right this instant
I don't want to play as a girl.
dont self insert then, just watch the girls.
>dont self insert
I never do.
This lol
Modern Ganker hates sexy and then cries when it's removed from games because a grifter told them to.

It's actually one of the most fun FF games if you don't take it seriously.
It has the absolute best iteration of the ATB system too.
BOYS RULE
GIRLS DROOL
BOYS ARE SMART
GIRLS ARE STUPID
that’s my favorite song
shit game
butchers Yuna's character and the lore and the setting and the whole fricking point of the the story
secondary type 5

Those damn pesky hags!

You will never be a real woman.
The last non-MMO game with a job system.
ff 13-2 exists.
It's worse than 15. 13 blows this game the frick out.

how in the frick do you 100% ff10 and lose to le blanc?

X was the former, X-2 was the latter.
An acquaintance I have loved FFX, but thought X-2 was too hard and complicated and dropped it because of that. X-2 is a game for real hardcore gamers.
