Zoomer here. I thought half this game was complete shit. Bloodborne was good all the way through

It's just an HD texture mod that optimizes some code here and there - it's fine.
There's a double-dialogue bug with Big Hat Logan repeating a voice line from the original that was left unfixed, so they obviously weren't trying very hard.
If they remade it like Demon's Souls, the autists would have thrown a shitfit, but I would have preferred that.

I don't mind original bugs that are untouched
just wanted to make sure they didn't introduce any new bugs

It's not that it had any problems, it's more that it was an unneeded, lazy cash grab. The "remastered" version doesn't really look much betterthan the original and doesn't change anything about the game (>inb4 1 bonfire), even things that people pretty ubiquitously agreed needed improving. DS1 wasn't even particularly old when it came out. It was basically a graphic mod sold at a price of a full game

But for somebody playing it for the first time remastered is okay, as once again, it's pretty much the exact same damn game

a lot of the visual changes are genuinely utterly abhorrent
but its still a cool and pretty game & 60fps + online probably compensates

It's not that remaster is particularily bad, it's just that it was highly unnecessary. They made the game look worse than the original DS1 with DSfix, while also fixing the same issues DSfix already did.
The only thing the remaster does better is some multiplayer mechanics. Either way, it's just not much of a change at all - the remaster was completely unnecessary.

      >also fixing the same issues DSfix already did.
60fps was never fixed in dsfix
stairs for one were still a problem

i agree, but as someone who goes back to dark souls 1 now and then, i would never want to touch the PTD port ever again

        >stairs for one were still a problem
Ladders, not stairs. And there's only two in the entire game that'll launch you through the floor, only one of which will kill you.

it was made by bamco, or whatever cheap SEA sweatshop they contracted to develop the remaster. it's dark souls but like served on a dirty platter by a stinky jeet.

If you don't consider completely losing the original, intended by the developer, look a problem, then no.

Currently playing remaster and Firelink looks way closer to the left screenshot.

How can you tell? You can't even see the counter on the screen.

I will say though, even if Firelink look sfine in the remaster, there's some parts of the game that look really screwed up. Blighttown especially. There's this weird sort of "dynamic contrast" (don'tknow what the correct term is). Parts of the level that are visible one moment can become pitch black the next, even places as close as ten steps in front of you. And at both entrances there's this jarring transition into this dark green color filter that's really ugly.

the remaster was basically useless for pc players yet for some reason cost 40 bucks (20 if you owned the original).

Sure they fixed some framerate issues and some bugs, but they also introduced new ones and changed the lighting for some reason (also some stuff like using estus as a phantom and putting a bonfire next to Vamos, like seriously what?). All of this wouldn't be a problem except they removed the original from Steam, making it effectively impossible to (legally) own the PTDE.

Oh well, at least now we have password matchmaking (but fricked up scaling because they couldn't even bother playtesting the damn thing but whatever)

It fixed online, horrid performance issues, everything works without the need to install any mods. The hate is entirely by grafixgays and even then there's a reshade mod now so they can shut up forever.

Pretty much a matter of tastes, I very much appreciated the vamos bonfire but some textures got fricked up pretty badly and the new bonfire went to iconic dark souls SOVUL to generic fire made for rick&morty watchers.

Here you can see some of the textures who got the skyrim treatment.
The covenants now functioning as intended was nice.

On PC it's not really worth it because it's just an HD texture upgrade.
On consoles is amazing because the original one on the 360 and ps3 would drop to like 10fps on blighttown and other zones, but this remake on modern consoles runs perfectly fine through most of the game.
