Everything has been said. This game is pretty cool but the luster doesn't last long. It simply can't support it's own size, there's not enough unique content.

Elden Ring still is a massive step back in almost every aspect aside of scale. Combat is back to DS2 clunk'n'spam, level design went out the window, balancing right after. Online play also has never been worse, being so spread out over distance, character levels AND weapon ratings its easy to lock yourself out of it for most of your playtime.

Combat is the only objective improvement made to the formula simply because of the amount of options it gives you. DS3 is a r1 roll festival, in ER weapon arts are viable, so are jump attacks and R2 to stagger the bosses. Of course, it isn't as good as Sekiro and still suffers from the infinite stamina problem that DS3 had.

Stormveil Castle is superb. There isn't a single Dark Souls that gives you that many options of progression as Stormveil does. The sewers are also really good
Yea it’s awful. Worse combat than Sekiro and Bloodborne, the worst bosses in the series, worst level design in the series, worst soundtrack, worst atmosphere, worst story/lore, terrible art style. The only selling point is the open world but it’s poorly designed and boring to explore, with hardly anything interesting to find.

Perfectly sumed it up. We can all agree to this. What a shame. I fricking knew this game was banking too much on open world. The atmosphere was great in parts in other installments. Elden ring in all seems like a fricking WoW custom private server, best way to put it if you know what i mean.
I don't think it's a bad game, but I personally didn't like it at all. I'll give it another try eventually. I didn't like DaS1 when I first played it, but came back and wound up liking the series a lot. The difference is now I don't have that initial shock learning curve. I understand how these games generally work and I still don't like it.

Elden ring wasn't shit, just flawed like any other souls game. Beautiful game but they really tried too hard to make bosses fricking moronic to push the summon mechanic.
They should have just made it a party based game where you recruit 2 other npcs to join you on your journey and give them roles like healer/tank/debuffer etc.

I was also told that the damage scaling on random mobs gets way wacky past that point to the point where you get 2shot unless you're consistently pumping vig and end to wear big nig armor

It's a solid 9/10 for me until the frozen wastes, where it becomes an annoying unfun slog.
It's just like Xen in Half Life, and gets even more like it when the overtuned true final dungeon is also a bunch of floating islands in a void.

the whole formula is stale but at least you can spice it up a bit by changing the settings like bb/sekiro did with some combat tweaks

I always let Melina burn the tree, then make sure to progress Ranni's questline to basically the very end to give her hope and then do the Frenzied Flame ending.

Nope, I genuinely like it. But I've liked all souls games (even DS2) and BB and sekiro, so it pretty much was a given that I'd like it.
Also played combined over 250h in 5 different playthroughs. Haven't gone into NG+ yet though, but that's next on the list.

I was actually not hyped at all, because I was kind of burnt out on Souls-type games.
But I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. It added enough to make it feel fresh. It's not a game that I would probably ever do more than one playthrough of, though.
It was a piece of dogshit and I wish people realized it faster.

no, it was worth the money and i got 200h out of it.
im going through dark souls 3 on playstation and having a lot more fun with the active forced invasions and smaller areas. to be fair dark souls 3 is still like a 6.5/10, but it's fricking active and doesnt require me to ride a horse for 15 minutes to find one thing.
