I was the guy in the last thread who ran the punisher and the tmp for the cabin house, I was able to get through it faster when I chucked grenades around and mag dumped the bull guy. I made it to the castle and haven't had too much trouble since the punisher is way better here against the shield guys, and I bought the broken butterfly early so I could drop the claws gay easy without too much issue. I stopped at the parasites room since they nabbed me at the ladder, so I need a better strategy for that room.
Great game, 8.5/10, but it should've definitely reworked the Island some more and made it more about Regenerators, messed up Plaga experiments and U3 instead of keeping the actiony focus, and the Castle should've had just one more chapter.
I think this is fair. Overall the village is improved over the original quite a bit. The castle is still sensational but it just doesn't quite feel like the massive, surreal adventure it did. The island really misses U3. Still a corking game and one of the best remakes we've ever had.

Pretty much. RE4R is RE2R-4 (RE8 is RE2R-3). Capcom hasn't updated the formula in a while now.
Even with the classic RE's they at least tried to spice things up with dual characters, and Nemesis etc., but honestly all the modern RE's could all be packaged as REmake 2 DLC.

I was referring to having the characters be more chatty like how they are in Uncharted. I don't like it when characters talk in gameplay because eventually, it's just gonna start repeating the same lines, and that happens really fast in REmake 4. And it's so jarring hearing iconic lines from the original being said without the context that made them iconic in the original. >Side quest

When they announced they were adding side quests to the game, I thought they were going the Dead Space Remake approach and adding new lore shit to expand upon the story. instead, we got c-tier MMO fetch quests. What makes it worse was this was by design so that they could sell you the currency separate if you didn't want to grind.

The way stagger works is godawful compared to the original and makes handguns fricking trash as well. Compared to the other weapons handguns seemingly have no progression. An unupgraded handgun at the start is just as shit as a fully upgraded one at the island. I've played at hardcore with a fully upgraded first handgun and more often than not it still required 4-5 headshots for the melee stagger. Let's not even mention the knee stagger which is way worse often needing 6 shots or more for the stagger.
They're literally just damage thresholds that upgrade with each Ganado tier you need to punch through you annoying Black person, just get a Red-9 and you'll be stunning Ganado in two to three headshots even on Professional, which I beat Handgun only for the challenge on NG with no issues and had tons of fun.
