Actually, I take my statement back, it looks like a remaster but is actually a remake. The assets look like they've been completely remake from scratch rather than upscaled. It just looked like a remaster at first glance because of the 2D aesthetic of the game.
Who knows what new things they'll add. The partner back sprites hint that they'll add some things, but I feel like they'll have a pretty faithful remake. If you want to be worried about anything I would consider the script or the OST.

People will be livid no matter what they do. Address THAT part of the character, use the exact same script as last time, people will be mad no matter what.
From the trailer I think some visuals look better and others look worse. OST is the one thing I'm pretty confident they wont frick up. I'll criticize Nintendo for a lot especially when it comes to remakes, but they're pretty consistent when it comes to soundtracks.

This, and not adding enough when SMRPG got boss rematches. There will be complaints about not adding a Luigi side-story, but they never paid much attention to it. The joke is that Luigi is a liar. Fast travel back to Rogueport would be nice, but adding more pipes to minimize backtracking in chapter 4 would be too much.
