Ah, You Are Empty, what a game! Really easy to beat and repetitive but dark sci-fi Soviet atmosphere is awesome. Worth playing even nowadays imo.

Russians and Ukrainians sure have a knack for making games with great atmosphere. Even stuff with mediocre to terrible gameplay can still grip me with everything else.

Raycasting is worst. The enemies move way faster when you don't see them.

          >Raycasting is worst
Has nothing to do with "Raycasting". Clueless idiot. That's depending on how the game handles these things internally.

Every single game made with the raycasting engine has this problem, you noob.

You should brush up on what that means and how those engines work.

The full version is available on internet archive and the GCS Wiki.
Yeah and all the games made with it (especailly Release 1) are immediately identifiable. Doesn't help that a lot of people reused the same assets that came with the software over and over again.

    Devastation
    Crammed full of TECHNOLOGY
One of the many pre-Half Life 2 first person shooters that let you pick up all sorts of random crap from coffee cups on upwards and throw it at enemies
A whole frickton of different weapons including exploding rats, also lets you dual wield guns
Works great in Windows 10 if you feel like trying it

Daaamn, that screenshot reminds me of Hellforces. How wonderfully trashy that piece of shit was! A guilty pleasure of mine. I remember seeing trailer and not understanding a thing about the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBVR0KWGah0
Its engine was later used in Stalin's Subway:

Also, to add to the thread: Psychotoxic, 2004. There was a fad in the mid-2000s to add psychic abilities to the games, and/or experiment with damage systems, adding bleeding or heavy wounds. That had abilities.

For anyone curious (I don't give a frick if you aren't),

This image is from a performance of "Noah" by the Jubalaires and features rhyming music which is a predecessor to rap music. If you want to hear it make sure you don't watch the one where they infuse a rap beat and frick it up.

Also I don't know how popular they are but I remember being amazed as a kid way back when Carnivore came out.

It's nice that one can overclock emulators to make it a bit faster. A modern source port with the digitized 3DO assets would be nice.

Picrelated. Still sold by the developer at https://www.tibosoftware.com/bad-toys.htm
Also, frick it, i am adding Locomalito's 8Bit Killer. It is almost old enough to be considered retro itself, and it is a damn good game: https://locomalito.com/8bit_killer.php

What waw the name of the fps from around 2004-2006 with the main character travelling to South America in search of his abducted daughter? I remember there were driveable cars in the game and you could make koney by driving a bus between towns. There were also many factions such as bandits, natives, military etc. And you had relations meter with them. I don't remember much about it. It felt sort of like Far Cry series, but it was something else.
