One of the biggest crimes horizon did, other than just being a generally obnoxious game to exist, is that the game is entirely about you hunting giant robot dinosaurs and LITERALL NO ONE, even the people who say they like the game, talk about this
I've never seen a single person, ever, talk about horizon's dinosaurs, let alone its combat at all
I fricking cant remember but even the setting is a complete ripoff of a sci fi book series, and fighting those robot dinos? The most unfun and drawn out affairs ever. It's not even hard, but playing optimally is just a fundamentally boring way of playing. I was getting so sick of the combat i turned the difficulty all the way down and it was still a damage sponge slog i just gave up after 10 hours.
I was a trophy fiend at this time but i was not gonna even bother sticking out that horseshit for a plat trophy.
It's the most fun aspect of the games. I could fight robo dinos the whole day. The combat is the thing that kept me playing. It's really enjoyable. Well, except humans but thankfully you fight them a whole lot less than the robots.
Because the combat is nothing. Early game is stealthing around because you do next to no damage and avoiding the big boys. Once you get the Ropecaster you are now effectively invincible as long as you can craft the spikes for it (Which is really cheap). Then it becomes a game of debuffing the boss with ice, nocking three arrows, jumping to activate slowmo, and shooting their weak spot on repeat. That's how every fight but Frostclaws go because they can't be frozen, those you actively have to dodge in between Ropecaster stuns because they have a minor immunity to the effect (Which isn't much).
This is how a fight with the highest level enemy on the hardest difficulty works, and this was with me being inefficient because I didn't realize the freeze staff was better than the bombs at the time.
