Can you imagine standing in front of a conference room of people and playing that embarrassing pitch video? Can you imagine the emotions of someone standing there as the lights come up in the room after the video was played?
Because I cannot. But I can say that if it was pitched to me I would want someone reassigned to pur furthest satellite office where they can't cause any problems.
>anti capitalist capitalist game where rich people only use their money chasing CLOUT which is bad but you steal from the rich to get CLOUT which is good >the game is also basically lawbreakers which flopped in its own right
even if released it would have been terrible which is why they scrapped it when it was 90+% complete
The beta was bad though. Every single match boiled down to "the first team that is strong enough to just camp the extraction point to kill teams that expended their resources engaging with the PvE wins".
Could someone give me a quick rundown?
The whole situation was so brief and since I don't really give a shit about modern multiplayer games I kinda skipped over it.
How bad was it?
How many layers of microtransactions, daily grind and severe FOMO did it have?
I know this is only a part of Sega's billion dollar meme game, but it wouldn't have hurt to release it and at least have some return out of it, right? Sell it to clueless people and bundle it with better games, I dunno
They were going to run it like a game as a service like Fortnite, but that would sink more money down the drain because they would have people working on a game no one wanted to play.
The game never even released.
It was the dumbest "slap trendy genres together at random" concept possible, a hero based pvpve "extraction shooter" about looting funko pops from spaceships on mars, with a bunch of terrible looking hero designs. Also antigravity was in there somehow.
It was also sega's "highest budget game ever" and was supposed to be a key part of their games-as-a-service business model to drive profits.
They ran one pre-release playtest and the test players hated it so fricking much that they immediately canceled the game and wrote off their tens/hundreds of millions of dollars in development.
The UI worked and there were no typos. This is a bigger achievement than you may think.
When Skull and Bones get released, for example, they had to remove all instances of "Opium" "for some English speaking areas" and replaced it with.... Black Dream Flower? I forgot exactly. Anyways, it lead to a data leak on the XSS. For the love of Christ, please don't play Skull and Bones.
>spend 100 million on a ugly version of Lawbreakers >cancel it
And now in order to get back some of the money they lost, they raised the prices on their new Total War products. Fans of those games were not happy
The projects were independently funded by Sega. They each had their own budget to work with. Maybe they wanted to regain some face with Sega, but overall CA are just delusional and tested how much they could get away with milking TW fans.
Chasing astroturfed vidya trends to the tune of tens of millions of dollars only to realize that such trends only appeal to a demographic that doesn't exist.
- moron dev leads who don't actually play vidya just notice a genre is popular long after countless other teams got on the ball/got it rolling in the first place
- it takes half a decade to make half a video game now so by the time they have something to release, the genre is peak saturated/dead
- the shit themselves and repeat the cycle until bankruptcy

It will come back, but *right now* you can't get shit out of it until the rebranding is finalized and new rules are decided, which might take them a few years and probably won't apply retroactively to projects made under old ESG guidelines.
So Hyenas won't get saved by it, even if it will continue to plague the industry.
No it is not, and if it is that brand will be known of very quickly. The public is now aware of ESG, it’s not going to forget it in a couple years when it comes back
It's amazing they actually saw the writting on a wall and didn't release it
Normally they would just lie to themselves that everything is fine and the game is doing great
This will be talked about for many years and I hope to Christ they don't re-contextualize it making the game out to be "ahead of it's time" or was "unjustly attacked by right-wing mobs". I just just know we'll see video essays doing that.
Creative Assembly, a studio known for a single franchise they have been working on almost exclusively for about 20 years, is forced at gunpoint by Sega to make a Tarkov/Overwatch style Team-Based Extraction Arena Hero Shooter where the aim of the game is to collect Sega merchandise.
Every character is as ugly as physically possible to align with typical woke design principles, everything has this gross pseudo-ironic sheen to it, all the dialogue is extremely cringe, and the game isn't even actually mechanically good.
They spend millions of dollars making this.
The beta had about 100 players.
It gets cancelled a month before launch.
tl;dr Sega are massive morons, Creative Assembly like their comfort zone
I know this is only a part of Sega's billion dollar meme game, but it wouldn't have hurt to release it and at least have some return out of it, right? Sell it to clueless people and bundle it with better games, I dunno
all ugly. It pisses me off people that hate seeing themselves but still shove their look onto other because they hate beauty so much. You have to go kmmo or other asian devs just to get decent looking characters.
>The number Overwatch dealt upon the Games industry.
I can’t tell if the main issue with all of these is the lack of thought and consideration that went into the visuals, or the lack of team/ world consistency. Destruction: AllStars comes close with a majority of characters wearing racing suits that signifies different teams, but even then there’s that one piece of the design that throws everything out the window (It would be like Kurt Wylde showing up in the Cosmic realm with his’ Street Breed racing suit). I know companies do this for money since Overwatch does the whole skin thing, but wouldn’t it have been easy to desaturate everything that is not the character so they stick out better. Because whenever I play these modern “Hero” (classhomosexuals)-based shooters I always get lost in the visual clutter or get whiplash from it.
Gundam evo is actually my favorite modern hero shooter and avoided most of the annoyance of hero shooter in the gameplay department. Too bad it's dead because it was mismanaged
Have you seend battleborn? Its mashup of meme Ganker ui design bu irl. With weapon models taking 50% of the screen and other moron nonsense. It was a completely broken game.
tv tropes is one of those last bastions of the old internet out there. Some pages are colonized by tumblrinas, but most tend to stay pretty neutral and objective.
>but most tend to stay pretty neutral and objective.
HAHAHAHAHHA. They killed Snootgame over there, and it took them decades to have Master Chief stand out in the character page, the main character that made the series. Before that, you couldn't find him at all while every other popular characters get their tab as the top part of the page.
tv tropes is one of those last bastions of the old internet out there. Some pages are colonized by tumblrinas, but most tend to stay pretty neutral and objective.

it's such a simple fricking unity game and it plays to the streamer bait category even more perfectly than amogus did
It's basically Phasmophobia but with more interesting and entertaining ways to die than "ghost grabbed my face". Add to the fact some helpful brainbox made a twenty-player mod, and mainstream success was practically assured.
I've always thought phasmo was boring as frick to watch, never got the appeal
for some reason lethal company just werks even though it's basically the same thing
massive flop in the making
I haven't even seen many streamer homosexuals shilling it. They clearly didn't put enough in the marketing budget, that genre is also incredibly tiresome at the moment
Such a shame, I wanted to see this turn launch to 1k players, be shilled by some streamers trying to pretend its fun, and have servers shut down after 2 months.
Its not fair I wanted to see that trainwreck happening.
If you were a total war fan, you would realize Creative Assembly can't do anything right.
i think "never" would have been a better word to put in parenthesis
This. I was sad when they cancelled it, I wanted to watch it release, crash, burn, and cost Sega a ton of money.
Sega was smarter than usual
They should have just released it even it was for a brief moment.
Idk how you manage to not make money off gamers.
disgusting furgay kys
ZAMN, bros we got robbed
Yigger
this would've actually made over 1 billion dollars
furgays have frick you money to spend and a thirst that will never be quenched
I have been saying this. They won't actually make a furry porn game because one of the agendas is anti-porn.
>tfw no hyena gf to bite my fricking balls off
fixed
Would this received more positively unlike the real deal?
It's not even too farfetched to have wanted since Sega is literally THE furry company. They made Sonic and he's still their mascot.
I mean I certainly would have paid more attention if the cast were furries instead of zoomer mutts #5462543.
All they had to do was make a Payday clone with Shadow, Rouge, Omega, and a bunch of OCs.
calm down crim
You know a project was some legendary garbage when I end up agreeing with a furgay.
>it's b-bad.....because i d-didn't like the pitch demo that wasn't made for the public
basically yes.
An Alpha came out and it was shit but you're going to be a contrarian and defend this defunct lump of shit anyway

How bad was it?
How many layers of microtransactions, daily grind and severe FOMO did it have?
It was almost done and then axed before release because CA was bleeding money and cancelling Hyenas was the quikest way to save money short term.
They were going to run it like a game as a service like Fortnite, but that would sink more money down the drain because they would have people working on a game no one wanted to play.
The game never even released.

>They ran one pre-release playtest
They ran more than one. I was in two. I got paid $13/hr for it.
Was there literally any redeeming feature at all?
The UI worked and there were no typos. This is a bigger achievement than you may think.
When Skull and Bones get released, for example, they had to remove all instances of "Opium" "for some English speaking areas" and replaced it with.... Black Dream Flower? I forgot exactly. Anyways, it lead to a data leak on the XSS. For the love of Christ, please don't play Skull and Bones.
I am drunk and tired but I think the gist of what I was trying to say went through.
A team of quirky individuals team up to fight capitalism by stealing funk pops.
That's it
That's literally it.
fight against capitalism was lost before it even started. ironic huh?
>game fights against capitalism
>kills its company
fitting

lmfao
>twinkle riot
masked girls deserve better

Ew, gross.
>normal girl, but masked/robot head
Oh boy!
That's really all it takes
i want to sexually FRICK Jailbreak Cronos
>ALL HYENAS MUST GO
Well, they sure did.
Btw, I'm a highly vexxed total warhammer 3 player. Frick them.
Imagine being so creatively bankrupt that you make Battleborn look interesting by comparison
I mean none of those games are hobby grade, genre-blended, or even multi-mode so that's not a fair comparison.
>unhealthy obsession with Black folk, fats, and gays
yeah it's western alright
>Fuego
>Tw1nkle
>Shift
Can we just have a (AAA) game with cool masked/faceless characters? Might actually consider playing it.
These are all the same game in different parallel universes.
Then how'd they all end up in ours?
all ugly. It pisses me off people that hate seeing themselves but still shove their look onto other because they hate beauty so much. You have to go kmmo or other asian devs just to get decent looking characters.
Nah, korean cgi is a different flavor of soulless
>kmmo
its like changing one poison for another, both are shit and will kill you but hey another smells better
why can't western devs just do this just make normal looking people that someone would want to play as
>Japanese character design is bette-
male designs look pretty cool, woman look like 80s predictions of future fashion, not a lot of woman on the pic though so overall pretty cool i think
Each of the women are hot, but they also all look the same. Surely there's a middle ground between this and whatever Hyenas or Forspoken had going on
Overwatch, the game those frickers are trying to copy.
blacker baron alone mogs any design in any of those flopped games in
These all translated decently to in-game models with character action gimmicks though.
Blacker baron is the best thing to come from Japan.
Was there an IP with this aestetic that was actually successful. I'm assuming all of these are trying to rip off that.
Fortnite.
Overwatch, for a time
and Fortnite
that lawbreakers pic always fricks me up-- what's supposed to be the character's name and what's their title??
>The number Overwatch dealt upon the Games industry.

There was nothing wrong with Battleborn, it was fun as frick but dropped RIGHT as Overwatch exploded. The rest have no excuse.
>got in before the genre was completely oversaturated with competition
>still blew it
Also inexcusable.
The inexcusable moment was trying to compete with overwatch without knowing it was going to be the last good thing blizzard would make
Have you seend battleborn? Its mashup of meme Ganker ui design bu irl. With weapon models taking 50% of the screen and other moron nonsense. It was a completely broken game.
I saw it, I played it, the UI thing is mostly a meme tbh
>There was nothing wrong with Battleborn
it was a fricking moba is what was wrong with it
fps and rpg stats never mix well
Modern western culture is so fricking disgusting and repulsive.
The only "interesting" character in the Hyena's cast, is the Richard Nixon mask guy, and that's based off a movie.
it honestly wasn't that bad of a game. I would have liked to play it more
>Destruction Allstars
first time I hear of it, and the pic made me think that it's Fortnite characters there jesus christ
It's really scary to me that things have gotten so bad that Lawbreakers designs have started to look appealing to my by comparison.
hyenas characters don't look that bad, besides that weird drag queen looking one
How did Blizzard do it?
their female characters completely carried the coom industry
that's it, really
they copied a real video game, TF2
TF2 didn't have women
Yeah it's strange that they fricked that up
Miss Pauling is all you need.
>Who is miss Pauling
>Who is Administrator
>Who is Olivia
Besides, TF2 was carried by good sense of humor and timeless gameplay
Aside from the porn, attractive and/or cool characters that are unique enough to be distinguished by their silhouettes.
>ALL HYENAS MUST GO
now, if only sega could crash and burn as well
some of the Lawbreakers concepts were actually decent.
Will never not be funny.
It's funny how tvtropes can't ignore this meme but also can't quite say how it reacts to troony suicide.
always fun to watch
Like look at this cope description to avoid it lmao
>dismay or frustrating
yes it is very frustrating to die at the end of a rope
Of course they can't outright say the meme is referring to TTD (Total troony Death) otherwise the page would be carpetbombed.
They make it sound a bit like pic related, which is funny, but also clearly missing the mark.
I worry about how much misinformation I "know" from years of reading TVtropes.
there's plenty of misinformation everywhere on the internet
tv tropes is one of those last bastions of the old internet out there.

Guys, its not 2008 anymore
>They killed Snootgame over there
what infuriates me the most of that shit site
>last bastions of the old internet
The last one is unironically Knowyourmeme. The only place that actually describes gamergate the way it was.
>Knowyourmeme
The mods are giant lefty homosexuals who banned almost all right accounts
Why would tvtropes even care to list a meme that the community made?
I played the beta.
It was fine. Could have lasted a couple months.
Apparently they sunk so much money into it that a couple months of operation would have been less lucrative than a tax write-off.
someone post the video of how this pile of shit was pitched to executives
found it https://web.archive.org/web/20231012132509/https://www.bitchute.com/video/RedlpIrJOPmY/
Holy frick
Now that explains why the game looked the way it did
>awkward no taco bell thanksgiving
>no buggy trend-chasing game slapped together in 2 days to try to salvage the studio
at least it demolished CA
The game that defeated c*pitalism
I don't know, being worth more dead than alive seems very capitalistic.
Please.

Can someone post the backstories of the characters? They are hilariously pretentious.
https://www.playhyenas.com/en-us/characters/

The frick?
The guy in charge of running the website probably got laid off.
>They didn't even update the news section with the cancellation announcement.

Large companies and projects are a complete mess. Chances are the guy in charge of the website either got laid off or walked, and the guys who wear suits to work never stopped to think that their actions might have consequences.
I don't care that this character is a drag queen, I care that this character has a 500 word backstory when 90% of the time you won't more of him than his press-on nails
Tldr he was groomed (and thats a good thing)
>game so bad that even sega of all companies, after having invested millions and having CA nearly finishing the game, still didnt want the public to see the "finished" product
I cant even begin to comprehend just how terrible this game was going to be
It wasn't as terrible as you'd think, just utterly forgettable.
WE COULD'VE HAD A SINGLE PLAYER GAME ABOUT HOT ANTHRO HYENAS
does anyone have the pic with like dishonored dlc, hyenas, vampires the masquerade with all the black characters and stuff
And now they come crawling hack, desperately hot fixing tww3, but at this point it's polishing a turd.
lethal company
(soon to be bc the furry dev is just gonna take the money and run which I can't blame him for)
I mean, why wouldn't he? He said himself the game is technically "finished", and it's blown the frick up thanks to the streamer crowd. He could easily live off the money for the rest of his life if he so desired.
I'm extremely jealous, I'm not gonna lie
it's such a simple fricking unity game and it plays to the streamer bait category even more perfectly than amogus did
It's basically Phasmophobia but with more interesting and entertaining ways to die than "ghost grabbed my face". Add to the fact some helpful brainbox made a twenty-player mod, and mainstream success was practically assured.
I've always thought phasmo was boring as frick to watch, never got the appeal
for some reason lethal company just werks even though it's basically the same thing
I did not do that.
I killed shit (games) with my freaking mind!
How long until The Finals suffers the same fate?
Its gotta release first but its already got crypto drones backing it purely for having AI announcer voices judging by the forums
massive flop in the making
I haven't even seen many streamer homosexuals shilling it. They clearly didn't put enough in the marketing budget, that genre is also incredibly tiresome at the moment
hopefully after I've had my fun with it, that beta was actually addictive
more like hye-nah
>he didn't join the ack
did you have fun
>space required: 40 bytes
the most optimized game in the world
>make zero-g game
>zero-g physics doesn’t apply
Stop this shit
any chance that once left and troon hysteria will end all the leftytroony shit will be retroactively retconned from existence?
Things will only get worse, not better. At least not until Jesus comes back.
Such a shame, I wanted to see this turn launch to 1k players, be shilled by some streamers trying to pretend its fun, and have servers shut down after 2 months.
That would've been fun but I think they really wanted to take the concept of a dead game in a new direction.

Such a shame this was cancelled, think about the laughs we could have had.
I still miss those threads where people were coming up with anthro classes.
Recommend me some games with yeen in them
kill furries
So, there's no games with yeen in them?
warhammer morons buying overpriced lord packs sponsored that shit
