Okay Ganker, am I fricking fricked?

Okay Ganker, am I fricking fricked?
I just brought a Japanese ps1 (SCPH-7000) and it just arrived today, after exactly 2 months.
So I plugged it in, and it made a weird sound. Then it wouldn't turn on. I did some research and found out that Japanese supply voltage is 100V (which is the maximum the ps1 can take), and in my country (Australia) the supply voltage is... good god 230V. I just powered a ps1 with over double than what is required. I tried looking inside the ps1 for the capacitors, and they look fine. And now I'm scared of opening it again after I just closed it.
Now here's the million dollar question, did I just brick my shiny new ps1? Or can I still play it with a voltage converter?

psu is probably shot. you could try fixing it but I'm guessing that's above your pay grade.
just buy an used pal (220) one and replace it.

its probably more worth it to buy an adapter and test it before you go and buy a ps1 for parts

A voltage converter? The ps1 came with a Japanese adapter, and I had a universal outlet laying around, so...

Just get a PicoPSU for the PSX or repsx. probably would have to do that soon enough anyway

Electronics have about a 10% tolerance. If it takes 100v, you can in theory give it 110v. Past that is dangerous. Seeing as how you went 230% over you blew something almost definitely.

Japan uses NTSC like USA. Don't use that shit without converters

It’s not just the voltage, you put a 50hz power source into a 60hz power supply

      no you moron
you blew the components in the psu
      get another one
      a pal/220 one

it's not something you can diagnose by eye you moron. you need a multimeter to go over all the components.
get a fricking 220 used psu and call it a day.

Australia, zoomers, autism... who do I blame this one on?

can probably get someone to fix, or put an aus power supply in it. tbh as a fellow aussie, invest in a stepdown converter. worth it.

I mean I'm not sure it's necessary getting an NTSC PS1 because I'm pretty sure the console has capability of doing both
