I don't see whats so "futuristic design" about it other than the 3 cameras, which need to be there otherwise I doubt they would have bothered adding that ugly shit.
White and very curvy with barely any edges
Make no mistake, it's not "futuristic", it's "wannabe futuristic". It's shitty marketing design, not good or appealing design.
Why would you purposefully add edges to something expensive you move around with?
Not only it would look stupid but its actually prone to get damaged more easily that way.
You got it backwards, you don't add edges for design, you remove them for the curved look. In its most basic form, a VR headset is a box. You're thinking backwards.
it's a good headset, now it needs more software to use the tech, right now I'm playing 7th guest and the volumetric video is really neat, more games need to use it, though it's suited for non interactive performances
I think the improvement over the previous model wasn't big enough because no one really uses it stand alone. So that only leaves the people that do and the games still aren't good enough to justify upgrading. It cost too much to be a good entry point when the old one is on sale.
Im having fun with it, replaced my reverb g2, though is right, the Quest 2 is going for a crazy value right now, like $200 used and $300 new, the $500 is a lot to ask especially from people who havent tried vr before, though thats probably also a good thing because less kids will get it unlike the quest 2
>thats probably also a good thing because less kids will get it unlike the quest 2
That won't really matter until the Quest 3 exclusive games start dropping next year
I just got quest 2+battery strap yesterday for 360 bucks, Ive been waiting for prices to drop like that
Always wanted to try vr, mostly because I want to try out models in vrchat that I sculpt and rig myself. The vr worlds are already saturated with e-girls, I want to do some shitposting
I played that vampire the Masquerade VR game and it was so bad I haven't used my headset since. That was one of the games that was supposed to show off the new tech. Half Life Alex is still better than anything on the Meta store.
After a decade of having vr, bonelab killed vr for me. Bonelabs was less of a tech demo
Another fricking techdemo. We get it, VR, now do something with it
all it did was reduce headset size and increase resolution by 5%. No new games. Ass creed nexus looks like it should have come out 5 years ago at least. Where's san andreas VR? That's a game that could turn things around, but unfortunately Rockstar Jeet Sub-Studio fricked up the remasters so hard, the VR project was trashed.
In other words, India is the reason VR failed.
>increase resolution by 5%
it's increased by almost 30% and will look even better in the headset since it has proper dual displays again instead of the single display of Q2.
>cant use cheap russian labour because of 2014 >cant use cheap chinese labour for similar reasons >indians can only copy and paste shit from the internet >latin americans are mouth breathers >AI cant code games yet
where is woke capitalism going to encounter cheap pozzed labour now? kek
No, the crossfire max are the only thing in the horizon able to save A/VR
Apparently is lile 30$ per glass and xreal is already working on a comercial model. If they release something cheap enough they are going to nuke everyone else in the market
>xreal
btw someone got the xreal to run Steam Deck games as a virtual display
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xreal/comments/17g6wso/its_here_virtual_display_is_ready_and_available/
now if they figure out how to get all the legacy games to display in stereo, then it's like a virtual 3d tv
>Boneworks was a tech demo full of leftover placeholder developer graphics that only just about counts as a game >Alyx was a tech demo meant to ship Index kits >everything else is permanent early access piss, ports of old games, or have 1 hour of gameplay.
Where the games at
Yeah it's the only proper game vr has, but you can't really deny it was a game built around a tech showcase in the same way as half life 2 was a physics engine demo
>you can't really deny it was a game built around a tech showcase in the same way as half life 2 was a physics engine demo
Not really. HL2 had moments showing off the physics engine but the campaign wasn't built entirely around just that.
If Alyx was built around anything it was showing that a game with mainly teleport movement could work (like Budget Cuts which Robin Walker said he took inspiration from)
>(like Budget Cuts which Robin Walker said he took inspiration from
LOL he only took inspiration from HL2. the levels in budget cuts are nothing like alyx. they are not long corridors that you need to walk through until you reach a loading screen. they are more like mini hubs where you can backtrack and hunt for items.
Moss is fun
Beat Saber is super fun
Blade and Sorcery is a fun tech demo that can be modded into a game
That's about it though. I ended up using my headset for porn. Seeing pussy up close is wonderful. I've never gotten that far for real because I'm autistic and girls are shit at flirting.
>Moss is fun
I played it and it was, but also way too short for the price tag. 20 bucks for a game that took me 4-5 hours to 100% is why I haven't bought the sequel yet. Well, that and it being a playstation hostage for years made me forget it even came out, when it finally did.
>VR made my eyes feel strange
same thing happened to me, felt drunk for a week, but eventually I got used to it, just do 15min sessions
Mario if he real
that reminds me, I always wanted to take this
https://github.com/VDavid003/sm64-port-android-base
and get it running on quest with a 3rd person camera and using the quest controllers in place of the N64 pad
I don't know why I even browse these threads or give your opinions the time to read them. You people are genuinely hopeless, I'm sad to think I used to feel comradery with this site rather than disappointment.
>cost <800 >can be used wireless >can play pc and standalone vr >manufacturer wont try to exploit me for using their hardware
Is this too much to ask? I dont want to make a shitty fb account or worry ill make a winnie the poo joke and get arrested if i ever visit a place china puts influence on
The things that can save VR are a Linux WM/DE and a FLOSS solution to the issues of tracking, compositing, etc. as a means of increasing competition in the hardware space.
This is neither of those things, this is phoneshit.
>Is this too much to ask?
Publicly traded companies are required by law to enshittify their services once they have achieved lock-in on account of shareholder primacy.
I think it's only overwhelming if you're not super familiar with how flat fast FPS work. HL2VR is one of the first game I played after I got my headset and the first thing I did was trying to bunny hop in the lobby when you get off the train in the intro.
Once you're comfortable with the speed of the game then everything flows in together and it becomes amazing. Fast paced VR FPS have become my new favorite genre.
you just have to get used to it. i still get incredibly nauseous in cars, and i had to drop alyx once because i couldn't go an hour without feeling like i'm gonna throw up, but eventually i got used to it. smooth turning still makes me wanna hurl, though.
Is this Ravenholm? I'd have expected that level to be more scary in VR but this doesn't look scary at all, rather goofy. Looks like I'll be holding off buying until we get full dive VR or something.
>360 3D
huge pain, literally impossible, basically you have to render the frame 1080 times for each vertical line of 1920x1080 image, and for 8k it's 4 times more
Instead of seeing people playing pokemon go you will see them going pew pew on the street. I can imagine qt some moment you could tune to what they see too and have big co-op games or just people with their pokemon going around
The park near my house where I stroll my kids is full of fat almowt moronic 40+ years old playing the whole fricking day. One day I realized it was pokemon go so I logged in and I sae there is an insane amount of gyms or whatever they are called. Like 10 with monsters and 50 without in a tiny park 2 min walking wide, idk if the tards rigged the system or what
We'll see how it does over Christmas. It's an interesting headset - it's actually a lot better than the Quest 2, but potentially not so much better that it's worth upgrading to until the game library expands.
What's really good about it is the mixed reality... not so good you'd actually use it, because walking around with a headset on is pretty stupid, but I think it's the first good development/experimental platform for good mixed reality content.
I suspect that the 'success' will be the Quest 3 light that they release in 6-12 months at $200 less.
>a lot better than the Quest 2, but potentially not so much better that it's worth upgrading to
Is it worth upgrading to 3 if I just have the original quest?
I'm thinking about buying Quest 3 for PCVR but I haven't tried VR in my life, but I can just return if I don't like it.
Did anyone use RDNA3 GPU to play VR?
Literally all I use my Quest 2 for is downloading mocap sex scenes in VAM, and making /ss/.
Beyond that, I’ll occasionally get high, and play Rez, RE4, or that roller coaster simulator. I wish like hell that RE Umbrella/Darkside Chronicles and House of the Dead would get ported to VR. On-rails shooters seems like such an obvious subgenre to transfer to VR, especially just ports of old Wii games, but nobody’s fricking doing it for some reason, so we’re stuck with indieshit making mid imitations.
What's the best way to power the Q2 while playing? I'm using the funny fast charge stuff my phone came with but it maybe extends my playtime by an hour.
Pretty sure it's powering the quest 2 from a wall outlet with a long cord.
For shorter sessions (is most of the time) some sort of battery headstrap works wonders.
I actually bought that off Amazon right now since it's on sale. I bought it for the battery, but it also looks way more comfy than the strap I have now.
VR is stuck in a cycle of shit games and shit hardware. it will only be a niche hobby until it can break this cycle then cropos will be able to control your reality more than they already can.
only good games can save VR
This. All other answers are moronic. VR is forever doomed.
who needs games when I have porn
it's not doomed, it just came out a little bit too early.
What is that abomination?
The wannabe futuristic design makes me think Appletrash or Facebookshit
It's the Quest 3
Quake 3? That came out years ago! It was multiplayer only and I had a dial-up modem.
Yes Quake 3 is on Quest 3
I don't see whats so "futuristic design" about it other than the 3 cameras, which need to be there otherwise I doubt they would have bothered adding that ugly shit.

FROM MY wiener AHAHAHAHAHA
Yeah, I bought one and it's amazing for the price
Shits on just about every other headset.
all it did was reduce headset size and increase resolution by 5%. No new games. Ass creed nexus looks like it should have come out 5 years ago at least. Where's san andreas VR? whatever, not nearly enough to justify consooming and spending money. 150% increase or bust. No games.
>150% increase
Well then you would have the janky Pimax headsets that don't work properly.
What is 150% more if you don't have a VR headset?
>No games.
You can play more with it than any other headset.
>still no dp over usb
it will look like shit (just like quest and quest 2). pcvr is truly dead

can a 1060 run fallout 4 vr?
i dont care about mods
Probably not
what current budget card can run fallout 4 vr?
Dude you need to render games at 4k for it to not look like ass in a headset at 72fps minimum
PCVR is not cheap at all
i have no standards, i just want to wagglan a bit and go back after a few hours to my monitor
only if you put everything on low but it will be extremely shit

I'm having an absolute blast with HL2. I just got to Ravenholm though...frick me.

I plan in getting an upgrade from 2 but waiting for at least a 50$ discount somewhere

Weird last time i checked Pistol Whip is still available on all platforms.
that's a rhythm game, dummy
PSVR is shit but sony throwing their weight behind it produced some really good games
I just tried this on my Quest 3. So fricking cool.
heh heh imagine playing this and then running mario in the girls rest room and going into first person view heh heh.
i dunno, will it work if i cum inside it fifty times?

more good games than consoles
I thought you guys said Quest wasn't mobile trash
I didn't know they were making another sniper elite game.
That uboat game could be cool.
What's there to even play besides Alyx?
Minecraft in VR is pretty good.

why the frick would it
vr cant be saved. Except for Alyx, all games are trash
