Serious question. Why don't they have more Mario games where you can play as multiple characters? And why don't they have more of their popular characters in the games that do let you pick characters?
I would say Toad but he's "the fast one" which rounds the group out nicely.
Wario was sorely missed though. Could've easily made him stand out. Yoshi wouldn't have felt as interesting with just Flutter Jump since Peach had her float.

Wario could've had a dedicated shoulder bash button, that would've been the bare minimum they needed for him
