>also, you should be a necktie and pin with the symbol of the bloodiest, cruellest regime imaginable

Actually think GW need to think long and hard about it.

On one hand, they say these things, give Sigvald they/them pronouns, paint more miniatures with female features or dark skin than before, do the typical corporate "politically correct" speak.

Then on the other, it's cutesy art of killing-machine Space Marines having coffee on the Community page, it's plushies and Funko Pops, it's nu40k where "good" guy £50 plastic characters who are "fixing the Imperium" do kayfabe fighting with £100 "pure evil" daemon primarch kits.

So GW is saying these things and being more politically "tolerant" than ever, but then at the same time is almost glorifying the Imperium both in-game and IRL more than it ever did under Tom Kirby in more grimdark times where everything was grey and you definitely couldn't buy "Daddy's little Space Marine" infant clothes.

It doesn't excuse the right-wing glorifiers of the Imperium, drawing the Emperor with Trump's head or whatever, but it feels like GW are giving them more rope than ever by painting it in such a way.

How can GW expect people to stop glorifying the Imperium and other 40k factions particularly, especially unsavoury political groupings they have tried to distance themselves from previously, when they are the Imperium's biggest normalisers and cheerleaders through their merchandise and fluff?

You can like evil, fictional characters and factions without confusing fiction with reality and doing weird shit, a bunch of normies like Vader and don't support genocide as a solution to problems, sadly some people are too moronic to understand that, and I'm not only talking about the schizos who do that shit, but also the gays that can't understand it and try to cancel companies and creators over fiction. "I like the cool logo" does not equate to "I think the imperium's xenophobia is very cool and good and applicable to real life racism"
arguably it's a bit fricked but people like their fiction and, for the most part, understand the separation of it from reality.

Those who act like it's wear 40k things makes you super evil either can't separate fiction from reality or have spent too much time dealing with serious buttholes who happen to be into 40k and are now excessively wary of 40k fans.
I think most of us have encountered some fandom that pisses us off to the extent that we can say the second will sometimes become reasonable.

I used to say the only winning move GW had was to stay the course with blatantly ignoring the outside world, because the moment they acknowledged the massive dissonance between their franchise and [current year] sensibilities was the moment they would become wholly full of shit as there was simply no way to reach a compromise between the two.

It’s both validating and infuriating to see that prediction was correct.

Yet having said that, although it’s comedically flagrant in its contradictions, is it actually all that different from any other megacorp bending the world over while claiming its your LBGTQABCDEFGHIJKLMNOP+ best friend?

GW was always full of shit, it’s just attained another genre of pageantry for it to continue shitting up. It really hasn’t actually changed much in of itself beyond trying to mimic the virtue signaling endemic to modern consumer culture.

Really, if anything I blame the fanbase for being so easily placated despite GW’s blatant contradictions being so out in the open now. It’d be really easy to call them on their bullshit, but I suppose it’s not as easy or as fun as going after individuals who can’t hide behind relative anonymity and walls of stacked cash.

Just stop buying shit from them.

Every time I think about maybe getting back into it now that I have more disposable income and free time, and think "man, AdMech are cool, I'd like to build an army" I remember their "you will not be missed" thing and say ok, I guess I still won't do business with them.

It's never been about just diversity and inclusion. For some reason, the current goal is to force you to celebrate the alphabet people in all facets of life. Acceptance isn’t enough. They're so desperately insecure that they don't just want you to include them. They want you to make sure you make everything about them.

I stopped, I also see why it's hard for people to stop, personal investment, I'm the lore, in the looks, in the systems, you spend all that time learning that shit buying into it, jumping ship gets hard, but many have said before, it's like being I'm an abusive relationship, it's so easy to look ar every positive and desperately downplay the negatives "look he released angron, its so cool, he does care!"

I whole-heartedly disagree, if you think you can truly do both of these things then you are incredibly shallow.
If you truly understand the character of Darth Vader and still look up to it then you would truly believe that large numbers of deaths for the right cause are just statistics.
On the other hand if you truly do value all sapient life and are capable of understanding that character then you would despise the idea of him on a very basic level, that is a monster in the form of a man and it holds true evil in it's heart.

        >understand the character of Darth Vader and still look up to it
That actually makes my point easier to make, the whole "look up" part, when talking about fiction you can 100% like a character or faction without looking up to it, this is due to how you don't need to look into fiction too deep, or even have a relationship beyond "it looks cool and is badass, so it makes me entertained for a time", of course you can always do those things, but you don't need to, you can simply ignore some of the bad things they do and enjoy the good (cool) ones because nothing bad was actually done, no one was actually hurt, the people on Alderan never suffered because they never existed, so I can just ignore it and still like the character because his cape looks cool (randon example, I don't really like Vader much, just used him as an example because of his popularity), is it shallow? Yes, it definitely is, but that's the thing, you can be shallow with your relation with fiction if it entertains you, it doesn't need to define your relationship with reality, or even with other fiction.

All those things are not the same as liking something, that is the whole point on it's core, fiction doesn't need to define or even influence your virtues and morals, emphasis on the "need", you can like and be inspired fictional characters because they reflect things you belive in and relate to you, but at same time you don't need to, you can like a character that is entirely different than anything you stand for, for any reason you wish simply because they don't actually stand for those things, they do not exist, they were created by someone who a lot of times created the exact opposite as another character in the same universe and made them interact with each other, this might also reflect the author view on things, or it might be meaningless to them as well

Wheres the sign that he never read it? Its explained in the book that the constant changing news announcements are meant to be practice tests for how easily you reprogram your brain to believe bullshit.

Obviously he's the one who has not read shit. Trannies always gaslight when you bring up 1984.

Dude, there is literally nothing more English than the Old School Tie. Turning up to a meeting with the wrong tie on can quite literally tank your career, as any Harrovian at an Eton luncheon can tell you.

    >drawing the Emperor with Trump's head or whatever
Reminder that the first people to do this were trying to lampoon Trump as evil and despotic but people thought it just made him look cool so it caught on. Sort of like how "fake news" was originally a term levied against Trump until he co-opted it, or how "my body my choice" has become an antivax dogwhistle.

They keep portraying Russians as orks having a zoggin good time in the war, so they kinda suck at creating propaganda that doesn't make their opponent rad as hell.

They despise traditional masculinity, so the worst thing they can make you out to be is traditionally masculine.

They're also 100% of the "meds"/"you are a schizo" posters. They pathologize others because they're pathological themselves.

Indeed you are quite right about the pathologizing. They do that a lot to 40k fans.

Wow, you've figured out that everything depicted in this fictional wargame is fake, that wearing an Imperium pin is about as meaningless as wearing a Led Zeppelin t-shirt, and that Games Workshop mostly just wants cringe posters like you to stop associating with their brand. Any other insights you wanna share with us, professor?
