The japanese "humor" and character design was too off-putting for anyone not from okinawa.

All of the dungeon puzzles are "clear this room of enemies". I love the game but the puzzles aren't very imaginative.

Its the Mario 64 of 3d action games, but thats giving it too much credit. Bunch of random shit and 3d test rooms thrown about. Goe goe spark is a b***hin track though.

Its a decent game especially for its release but its no Ocarina of Time. Not even close in my opinion. This is like the guy who likes Jet Set Willy better than Metroid. Or people who say some random but decent old band was ahctually better than Led Zeppelin or the Beatles etc. To each his own tho there’s plenty of worse games.

The game has tons of personality and really good art direction for an early 3D adventure game, also the soundtrack is incredible in hindsight due to how limited the N64 was on the audio front. Easily one of the best non-Nintendo third party soundtracks on the system.

    >Full 3d world with interconnected dungeons
    >Tons of characters in a living and constantly changing world
    >Lock on based combat
    >First dungeon has an enemy you need to look up at the ceiling to reveal teaching you about verticality in 3d space
    >Even has a button to rotate the camera the way you're facing, and its the same button as lock on
All a full year before zelda took credit for doing the same thing, but worse. Gotta wonder where nintendo got all these ideas from...

      >>Lock on based combat
Completely different than the way Z-target works in OOT. (way less usable)
But yeah Goemon came out before both, MML and OOT.

The dungeons in zelda don't have music either. It's ambiance in both games. Another idea stolen from legends. Main gate in legends has solid music too. You've never played it have you?

          Are you deaf?
          >Main gate in legends has solid music too
Wow the last ten minutes has some form of music. That definitely makes up for it being nonexistent for the rest of the game's actual gameplay.

nta, but I don't remember music in the underground mines in Legends, not even ambient music, it was just the sounds from the reaverbots nearby. It was atmospheric so it worked, but OOT has actual music tracks in each dungeon.
Anyway, as much as I love OOT's music, the Goemon castles music is just much better. Then again, Goemon series has the reputation of having some of the best music in all of vidya, up there along with Castlevania.
Legend's music was disappointing after all the great music from classic Mega Man and Mega Man X. Legends' OST feels like a bit generic satAM cartoon music, which does fit the game but it's nothing to write home about... some of it can be pretty nostalgic, though.

      >t. Extremely repetitive shit dungeons and weapon sponge enemies
      Right, Zelda definitely copied this.

This was my favorite game back in the day, never owned my own copy but played the shit out of it at a friend's place. The action, adventure, story, multiple playable characters, voiced songs, and Impact Robo fights blew our fricking minds. I'd put it above OoT any day.

Does it still emulate poorly? I remember completely crashing my family's computer trying to get it to run back in the day.
