Paradox Interactive is revealing their "Sims Killer" IP on Monday

And it's designed by former The Sims' franchise lead, Rod Humble. Thoughts? Hopes? I'm just surprised it took this long.

This would be kino, but I don't think they'd double dip like that. Crusader Kings already exists.
By the way, I wonder if there's a mod that replaces TS3'S skin texture with Medieval's...

Hopefully Humble pulls it off. This, Paralives (release never ever) and EA's Project Rene are all going head-to-head now.

I was rooting for Paralives, but I forsee the death of the project if the OP comes true.

Remember when Paradox announced they would make a real Syndicate sequel after the 2012 Reboot?

It will somehow be worse than the garbage EA shits out, all these x-killers are. Escepially when they have former team members on the dev team

If they convinced Will Wright to come back and make what Spore was originally supposed to be, not only would I buy it, I'd buy all $750 dollars worth of DLC.

They did a pretty good job on Cities Skylines making it to be sim city killer.

I have high hopes for this. There are hardly any sim games out there, so surely it can't be worse than the Sims 4

The Sims' hasn't had ANY competition since TS2, so it's a bit premature to make that sort of assumption. PDX already usurped one Maxis/EA IP with Cities: Skylines, and they seem to believe they can do it again. The Sims' as an IP is stagnant. It's low hanging fruit, really.

Sims, eh. Pretty depressing innit. You download it, play for 8 hours straight, not sure if you are even having fun, quit out and uninstall. Every time.

Unless it has sex mechanics out of the box, it will NEVER dethrone The Sims.

Exactly my initial thoughts. In my head I was going through how easy it would be to dethrone Sims 4 a couple years ago.

Skylines absolutely shat all over and destroyed SimCities, so why not.

I hope they kill it just as they did SimCity.
Dead is slightly better in this case.

maybe my wires are crossed but is it a fair comparison? a lot of the city skyline devs came from rct1,2 an/or 3. where the newest rct is made by a completely different set of devs?

They're the European EA. No doubt their "Sims Killer IP" will be just as filled with microtransactions, only from the get-go as opposed to over time as the IP gets more games.

When was the last good game paradox put out? Sequels to ck2 hoi3 Vicky 2 were hot garbage. Eu4 still trudging along somehow despites the dlcs making it worse imo. Stellaris arguably the last okay game still has issues.

Judging by cities skylines and stellaris, they can't do it. Paradox doesn't understand the difference between a game and an roleplay assistance software.
Sims went to shit when it went full dollhouse with no challenge where you can do anything you want at any point. Old sims created stories, now only women can play that shit since their schizophrenia creates stories in their game.
