In six years once the final dlc releases? Probably.
probably, imagine the modder potential. . .brb making a e-girl dismemberment and breeding dungeon
I still have my sims 1 that I bought from a friend 15 years ago. It's a cracked version.
I'll never need a sims again.
Even my kids play it.
Interesting since Sims 1 isnt even the best except maybe the soundtrack
1's OST is good but I somewhat prefer 2's
Why did you pay money for pirated version? Are you moronic
What's it called?
Who knows
It's just been speculation for a few years
I honestly don't think it will be good. For one, a game like this is vastly different from anything they've made before. But The Sims is a immense task to take on. It's literally supposed to be a life simulator. EA is lucky they've been making those games for decades now, and they've been able to build up from that. And even with all those years of experience and millions in budget, they still frick it up regularly.
I am more surprised its taken so fricking long for someone to challenge EAs Sims series. The first game came out in fricking 2000 and was hugely popular
Maybe EA should retailate in the other direction and make something to compete with Stellaris that doesn't have the fun balanced out of it for the sake of multiplayer nobody touches and if they do they're doing it with friends so balance doesn't matter anyway
The thing about the Sims is that it's very hard to improve upon it just from a design perspective, since it's just a sandbox with very loose structure and mechanics that boil down to largely superficial interactions between various stats and tags. The only way to obviously improve on the game is variety in interactions, assets, animations, etc, all of which amount to just throwing more money at the project. Maxis/EA have historically always maintained dominance in that regard because they're soulless enough to crank out dozens of expansions per game, which is why Paradox is the only publisher I can see possibly competing with them.
You dont think the actual sim aspects of it could be deepened quite a bit? Hell at the very least copy The Sims 3 but make it work
>You dont think the actual sim aspects of it could be deepened quite a bit?
I do but I think only a small fraction of the playerbase would care enough to play a game with extremely complex simulation elements versus The Sims 4: Horse Living Stuff Pack Out This Week.
Honest question what ways do you think the sim elements of these games could be improved upon that would result in a more fun experience?
Not having to tell your idiot sins what to do. Just create them and watch them live their lives UNLESS you feel like directing them.
Idk seems like this would be very dull
quite the opposite, it's great
once you stop with the anal micromanagement of the fill-the-needs-bars and start wondering how to manufacture some real drama in the neighborhood, things get way more interesting
Just implementing what the popular mods do directly into the game, but really the sims has a huge grip on the female market the way it is currently.
>The only way to obviously improve on the game is variety in interactions, assets, animations, etc, all of which amount to just throwing more money at the project.
I think this is wrong in several ways.
>Sim autonomy is heinously bad
Creating a more dynamic system that avoids the pitfalls of "Go on Computer > Lump of Clay > Go on Computer > Lump of Clay > Wash dishes in bathroom sink" would already be massively appealing.
>Returns many of the features that have been stripped away since the Sims 2/Sim 3
The players are already starved for these
>Present the same concept in a less sterile and sanitized capacity
I know I'm not alone in wanting sims that are meaner than a cliche middle school bully in a pixar movie. I'm not saying full gritty nasty, just more realistic. Modding scene already shows huge demand for this with mods like Basemental.
There are plenty of other ways to stand out against the Sims, but in all honestly the Sims is awful at its original purpose now. The simulation aspect is the weakest and most shallow its been since probably the Sims 1, the only thing it excels at now is customization and even then there were huge steps back since 3.
I dont think any game can capture what the original sims captured tbh
Sims 3 is fricking amazing with Nraas Story Progression Mod. If paradox can do something like that I am here for it. I want open world and a town that makes it own stories/feels alive
The Sims is the one franchise that actually has a larger female player base than male, so the way to improve it is to find a way to turn it into an Otome tier melodrama simulator.
>A roster of NPCs/Sims that are actual characters
>Persona style dating events
>you can control your character in third or first person too
>no bullshit made up language so they can write actual story and scripts for the characters
>I think a Disney artstyle would be massively popular for this genre, although i would hate it
Alternatively, they should just make Elden Ring: You Marry and Breed the Waifu Edition, if they want the male audience
I thought the point of "simlish" was kind of like the whole non voiced protag rpg stuff. You basically get to handcanon exactly what they are saying. Basically the same reason people were mad about the voiced protag in FO4
Sims is a girl’s game (fun fact: sims was the first major video game to have more female players than players) and male developers wouldn’t understand that. They were probably like Sims? The game where you decorate and play doll house? That’s so lame! We ain’t challenging EA, it will fizzle out by itself
There were a few in the early to mid 2000s but most were extremely half assed and relied on some form of shock factor to get attention like 7 Sins.
After 300 dollars of DLC maybe.
Because EA doesnt have fricking tons of DLC. How much does the base game + DLC + store content cost in the sims again?
>paradox want to compete with EA by making a Sims game
>paradox being paradox they compete on the ground they know the most
>DLC amount and cost
BEHOLD, THE PARASIMS
BASE GAME FOR FREE WITH 250 DLC WORTH 3100 US$ EVEN MORE THAN TRAIN SIMULATOR !
What the frick are you talking about? Yes Paradox are notorious for stupid amounts of DLC. Yes their Sims game will likely have obscene amounts of DLC. But this is nothing new with The Sims so it's a moot point.
The base game for Sims still functions with the expansions largely just being assorted stuff and tacked on mechanics, paradox makes things that should be core features paid DLC
Yeah because shit like pets expansions dont exist. Hell id argue Paradox expanisons are better since at the very least usually their DLC also usually come with major changes to the base game, which you get even if you dont buy the DLC.
>parashit
it's over
i´m amused, hope for the best, competition in diverse number of game genres is what the market needs
Honestly without the soundtrack of The Sims i dont know that i could actually get into the game.
Literally who game dev
>paradox
No. Hell, it's self-answering.
Paradox did fine with Cities Skyline and took out Simcity so why not? Hell it could be argued that CK2/3 is a better Sims game than The Sims 4
>took out Simcity
To be fair, the latest version of Simcity sucked. The Sims 4 is okay but really the only reason why people would actually switch to a Paradox game is because its slightly cheaper.
SimCity took out SimCity, that iteration was terrible. Cities: Skylines was just kinda there and available.
*does a fricking dope backflip*
Has there been any news on this? I feel like I heard this rumor 5 years ago.
Imagine the DLC. Paradox nickels and dimes more than EA.
We dont have to imagine it. We can literally already experience it with the current sims games
The only thing it'll compete with is the insane amount of DLC
>Will it be good?
it's a hard genre to get Wright
I think the sims are just too fricking ingrained at this point and any game trying to compete will just feel like a cheap knock off. People are going to miss the plumbob, the sim language, the music, and just the overall kitschy nature of the sims
>fitgirl repack with everything including store stuff
>nraas
>smooth patch
>simler's core fix mod
>fixed routing worlds
3 is such a complete game its sickening. i love that its still getting fixes and updates, the core mod gets like 2-3 updates per week right now
Is it still buggy and broken as frick with piss poor performance?
look up the smooth patch, it irons out the vast majority of issues by allowing the game to process more stuff per tick. cas and build mode are much faster too https://youtu.be/h-iFMUolcCk
Paradox lost it right about when they added that fembot CEO.
Yes, yes.. she is gone now, but her legacy remains; the legacy in which Paradox went from a smaller indie-tier autistic sim game creator to a normie friendly fem bot infected shit pile.
They removed "deus vult" from CK3 and pretend homosexuals were accepted by the catholic church; and tried to make mulattos the human profile in stellaris, before backing off and re-adding the old human profiles.
Paradox was great, but they got big and now theyre shit. So goes ALL vidya studios.
