Because back when this game was made, life was still good. The lizardmen and the purple symbiotes were kinda freaky too and throughout your fight with Carnage he's just screaming DIE DIE DIE in a high-pitched voice, cops were trying to kill you on sight regardless of how much collateral damage they caused in the process

2nd game was such a let down, I can't remember anything memorable from it.
First game had all the cool villains. 2 had

Almost every level being on timer or "climb that tunnel" didn't help either
It was made by a different team and it shows. I never played passed the beginning at the airport it sucked so bad.
That plane level almost killed any desire to play it further
