Funnily enough PoR and X68000 are the last iga and classicvania respectively I played and they ended up becoming my favorites. I just couldn't get enough of them.
Like every good Ganker opportunist I will make fun of it if it turns out to be shit but if it's good I will claim that I never doubted the devs and was one of the first supporters.

why the frick is the retreat chant so unreliable? Frickers trip on their non-existent feet all the fricking time.

My guess is the Patapons need to be able to start dancing immediately after 4 beats, and since they only begin diving when they're a certain distance near Hatapon they may skip diving all together. Or their diving animation is sped up, but not the distance they end up diving. Basically, the more spread out your Patapon are, the screwier your retreat will be

Emulation has whack ass timing due to delay no matter what settings you use, you can't get rid of it, just diminish it. If the remasters have perfect timing then they would be preferrable, but their graphics are AI upscaled and thus full of messed up shapes that the AI got wrong.

Patapon 1 is fricking unbalance as hell. Get dodongo to lv40 and watch him melt hatepon with unvoidable fire breath. Stagger stat doesn't work on bosses. Crit isnt worth building until 2. Slow gear is a trap.
Id be suprised if anyone ever got lv 100 on the dongo or shookle bosses, the game simply collapses under haphazard design (no jump and hatepon is a liability)
I wish there was a Patapon2 without the hero, that would actually be a good ass game with no glaring flaws

I rushed Toripons so hard I had a full set of 3 when I reached Pharamatara, just so I could take revenge on his massive soiface for walling me back when I first played Patapon 2 a decade ago.
I haven't played Patapon since the PSP release. I used to get into Fever at 3 cycles and stay in that mode until the stage finished while being able to walk and talk with people simultaneously.
Now I tried Patapon on PS4 and I keep dropping Fever and frequently have to wait for the free Fever mode pity it gives you. I'm also noticing an issue where a boss will start a big attack right as I am beginning an Attack or Charge Command and then by the time I can react I get slammed in the middle of the Defend or Retreat command input. Very annoying.
mogyun ones are super cheap for yaripons and the meat is just from gold birds and alloys from swamp crabs

Its passable at best. Its not a disaster like MN9 but its objectively very underwhelming.
I know some people who really like it, unlike MN9 which everyone hated. To me it was just another mid-tier GBA/DS castlevania.
Not sure why we're still pretending there haven't been tons of great kickstarter games since.
