>a 4090 costs as much as an entire "best of the best" build you could get 5-10 years ago

Where did we go wrong, PC bros? Why do I need to drop 3k on on a new high end PC?
>a 4090 costs as much as an entire "best of the best" build you could get 5-10 years ago
>there is nothing new worth playing
Where did we go wrong, PC bros? Why do I need to drop 3k on on a new high end PC?
>why do I need to pay more money for more powerful hardware
Gee I dunno it's a mystery.
have a nice day, gaslighting homosexual
>gaslighting
Go back to X.
what game do you want to play that requires a 4090?
Starfield
Maybe in a year or so once Starfield's equivalent of all the overhaul mods and enb type shit comes out it will justify an upgrade.
Diablo 4.
You don't. Nothing that allegedly requires it is worth playing. Pretty much anything worth the price of admission can be played well on a 1070, less if you're being honest.
>Where did we go wrong, PC bros? Why do I need to drop 3k on on a new high end PC?
It's pretty fricking simple, stop listening to Nvidia marketers. Stores now have high stock of their old cards, yet they try to justify $1000+ for a new card? Obviously they are the problem.
I've seen some stores not even bothering to stock up with 4090's. They're still trying to sell people overpriced 3000 series pre-builds for 2k+, kek. What a shit show. No one beyond rich/childless enthusiasts is buying gaming PC's anymore, it seems.
>No one beyond rich/childless enthusiasts is buying prebuilt gaming PC's anymore, it seems.
fixed your shit no one with a brain buys prebuilt you filthy casual.
building a PC for cheap is no longer an option. a GPU now costs as much as an entire PC 5 years ago. it doesn't matter if you buy in parts or not.
https://www.newegg.com/
Miss me with that bullshit. Wholesale pre-builts have been the smartest option for years.
Seriously? My current PC I bought all in parts and built myself in late 2018 and considering more and more lately to get a new PC. Any downsides to pre-built as in do they do proper cable management? I do this myself too so it's all neat and clean with minimal/no excess cables. I gotta start shopping around soon and see who seems to be good for prebuilts.
you pay like 25% extra tax in EU for every component individually. that's why a pre-built PC is better in terms of cost, since you're technically buying one product.
1000*1.25
vs
200*1.25
100*1.25
300*1.25
50*1.25
??
a 4090 is 1600, bro
i just meant that paying tax on one big item vs 4 small items doesn't mean that you're paying more tax on the smaller items
pre-builts are cheaper in EU due to tax bullshit
What? No way. Everytime some american friend talks about PC part prices, I check them out here and it's always much more expensive, and usually still a bit more expensive before even sales taxes. No way adding pre-building ontop makes it cheaper.
>Where did we go so wrong PC bros
>EVERY game worth playing can be played without a gpu
>Just get a Ryzen CPU with an integrated GPU and plenty of fast ram
>Don't even need a graphics card
>SSDs are even cheap now
It's basically never been a better time to be a PC gamer
>Where did we go wrong, PC bros?
When gamers began to attack each other over rising requirements due to poor optimization instead of the people developing the games and selling the hardware.
They don't have the excuse of "We have no stats on what systems gaymurs have!" because Valve's monthly hardware study is openly shared.
>When gamers began to attack each other over rising requirements due to poor optimization instead of the people developing the games and selling the hardware.
Those "people" are mostly bots, trolls and astroturfers.
Play indie games. (no, not those ones)
Play older games.
Just say independent games.
Then people know what you're talking about.
I have a 1060 6gb and 6700k I bought in 2016. I play mostly indie Survivor-likes right now, some shitty Gmod zombie mode, and Project 1999 Everquest. Gaming has peaked and the only thing I've cared about is Streets of Tarkov filtering me out. I will only upgrade when I get exponential Stable Diffusion gains for under $450 CAD. PC gaming is a rip off right now.
yeah, every "demanding" new game that comes out is absolute goyslop, so I don't really see a reason to drop 3k on a new rig. what the frick am I going to play? Immoratls of Aveum? Remnant 2? Bloober Hill 2? I think I'm good, thanks.
But you're missing out on Harold Pot and the Chamberpot of Stinkrets which BARELY looks different between Ultra and Low besides some fricked culling
>GPU costs as much as an entire "best of the best" build you could get 5-10 years ago
Absolute moronic argument.
good morning, sir
Games used to be made for pc OR console. If a game was on both, it was made for pc and ported to console.
Advancements in console online infrastructure led to consoles being the lead console. Games were often released on both, but were clearly build within the structure of console architecture and norms.
Ray tracing is a nice party trick but largely underwhelming. Theres rarely a reason for the latest hardware unless you have a specific use case.
The best pc visuals come from faked E3 presentations where the smoke looks incredible, but by the time the actual game arrives it will have gone through several downgrades.
Is that Kevin Smith?! Why does he look like a fricking skinny ayy lmao????
soi+weed
He got aids.
Had a massive heart-attack and required open heart surgery pre-COVID. Even after it happened, he turned an extremely questionable diet without any real nutrients. Now we're seeing the results of being on that diet for years.
That’s what happens when you let your daughter dictate what you eat. Another old Gen X reject.
>4k120+hz is almost attainable
>oled and miniled monitors becoming affordable
if not for nvidia trying to israelite us with overpriced console upscaling trash we would be eating good
>oled
My IPS LCD monitors burn in enough nevermind having hentai permanently stuck in an OLED.
Poorgay cope
>ever buying top of the range when it comes to technology
You deserve to get fleeced and stuck in bewilderment.
I'm still with my 2080 I got when it released and really never felt any need to upgrade GPU. All releases up to like 2019 run on max everything no problem and the same is true of indie to AA games of 2023. It is also enough for the GPU needs of PS360 emulation. I guess I miss on the 4k ray tracing.
>>a 4090 costs as much as an entire "best of the best" build you could get 5-10 years ago
is nothing new worth playing
Just don't buy it then?
I must consoom but don't want to feel ripped off. Getting a good deal gives me double the pleasure.
Maybe they wanna play with RTX on, ya'know with slightly better lighting and reflections for a 50% performance hit.
What happened to silent bob?
weed + heart attack + veganism
You don't need to buy a 4090. That's the equivalent of buying a Titan 5-10 years ago which aren't the builds you are comparing to. You are comparing to some shitty i5 Sandy Bridge build with a 970.
even a 4090 can barely run new games like Remnant 2 and Immortals of Aveum at 1440p. it can't even run Dead Space remake at a native 4k60. it's already out of date.
my pc is getting so old that it's stressful for it to even run chrome. There's just nothing really worth upgrading for. I have $5000 set aside in cash ready to spend, and my job bought me two $500 really super nice monitors earlier this year, but there's just no way to justify upgrading. Maybe for poe2 when it comes out, or stormgate
>Need to upgrade CPU
>Requires new mobo
>requires new RAM (unless mobo can take DDR4). That's not that bad but adds up.
>Requires new NVME SSD unless I wanna just recycle my current tiny ass 250GB OS drive. Not bad but adds up.
>Requires Windows 11 unless I wanna re-use my old OS stuff.
>Requires heatsink unless I wanna re-use old one (probably not since noctura's new one is x2 heat sinks and mine is just x1).
>What would just be +200 bucks for a CPU now is like ~800-1000.
That was the motivation that - or well, de-motivated me. Aside of my GPU From a 1060 I don't feel that urgent ache to upgrade. Like I'd want to but it's not a pressing need and the headache of doing all that.
You don't need to drop anything anon. You're probably set with what you already have. Maybe get an nvme drive.
Yeah, I'm getting a 1TB Kingston 3000 and some faster RAM. I recently found out that my current memory is bottlenecking my Ryzen. Should have done more research.
There was a great sale on Prime day for a few well known nvme drives. I got myself a 4TB.
I wish Kevin Smith died
Should have learned to code moron. Shit is only going to get more expensive as you age and if you keep working a shit job or no job you're going to grow even more bitter.
god this stupid cuck looks like a white snoop dogg now
Also OP what's the problem then? If there's nothing new worth playing you shouldn't need to spend much on it, right?
It's a hypothetical question.
>Z690
> i9 13900K
>32GB (2x 16GB) DDR5 6000MHz RAM
>SSD: Samsung 990 PRO for gaming and a 4 TB HDD for file storage
>RTX 4090
should I go for it?
That's actually pretty solid.
I hope I don't regret going Gigabyte for the 4090. They're like 500 bucks cheaper than everyone else.
Gigabyte has been dodgy in the past. I'd be wary.
not that anon but since EVGA doesn't make gpus anymore, who is the best now?
I don't know, but I know Gigabyte specifically has a bad record. From my experience, I like my ASUS, which I bought because they're the only ones that include 2 HDMI ports.
I got an open box zotac 4090 off scamazon for $1375 in June. I've been happy with it.
You can make a good build between $500-$1000 if you don't fall for the 4k raytracing meme
have a nice day
You can make a good build for $5 if you don't fall for the electricity meme.
He looks like a slender DSP
You're thinking of Dante
>that's the face he made when he seen how ugly he is
He's in his mid 50s. He can be ugly, it's fine, it doesn't matter anymore. He can be ugly and old and have 0 accomplishments other than some mid-ass stoner comedies that people avoid when they learn he made them.
How long before Kevin Smith troons out?
>Where did we go wrong, PC bros?
We didn't. There's tons of great games right now and incoming and as others said, you don't really need top grade equipment for playing anything.
PC can't stop winning while consoles are dying.
t. 4090 and 13900k owner.
>consoles are dying
not if the average person keeps getting priced out. 3 of my friends have already swithed to console due to Nvidia's israelitery and AMD's incompetence. I'd join them if I didn't have all this spare money laying around from not having kids. I bought that 4090 but I'm not proud of it.
You didn't buy a 4090, because your face would be like picrel every time you launched a game if you did.
t. 4090chad
I'm not a proud consoomer like you. I still feel ripped off.
You don't play games or don't have a 4090, because any time I launch a game, I think "this was the right decision."
You can't convince me that people actually switch to console after being on PC. The difference is like night and day and I get nausea from the low ass framerates on console.
having kids lowers people's standards. they just want to chill on the couch and plug and play.
Fair enough brother.
That's why I have a switch and a PC.
you can do that on pc
My pc isn't in the living room so no.
>doesn't know about Steam Link
ngmi
He's not wrong
Lifetime sales of consoles have been declining since 7th Gen.
That was the peak.
everything is declining due to average people being poorer (by design). and it's only going to get worse.
Consumer grade PC hardware keeps growing despite the moronic prices, so no, you're wrong.
>But PC sales
Prebuilts, prebuilts are declining as people wither buy laptops or build their own desktops.
Building your own is cheaper and more fun plus the quality is greater. Prebuilts are for console people with just enough willpower left to press a button to turn on the system.
Good thing my trusty 2060 plays everything heh
my homie
What's especially funny about your picrel is that it was an unrealistic fantasy by Shaun.
my 2060 can play everything thoughever
"Play" is a sliding scale, apparently.
hey man, what's wrong buddy? are you having a bad day?
I have a 4090. I'm having a picrel day.
Nice!
Ceiling spidey is watching you jerk off.
somebody post this moron cringe twitt
no
nvm found it myself
>pOwns my dick
How many exclusives does PS5 have besides Demons Souls (PS3 remake) and FF16?
The system is a massive fricking disappointment.
All i do is play WoW and gacha games on my pc so i will never really have a reason to update ever. Frick new games.
>download speed: 2mb/s
>restart PC
>download speed: 20mb/s
the frick is this witchcraft?
steam cache frickery
and apparently closing and opening steam again doesn't fix it either. What the hell
Gaben's fat israeli ass is penny pinching with pajeets.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NtWd6D
Is this a good gaming build for 1.4k budget?
get a Ryzen 9 5900X instead
I'd rather be a fatass then a malnourished vegan, why does he have makeup on too?
He's a completely deranged leftoid. It broke him.
lol this homie looks like that boss from Kid Chameleon
he's using makeup?
>where did we go wrong
we didn't it was ngreedia that fricked everything with teh 20 series
>massive price increase
>substantial die cut
>shifting product stack downward
I bought a 3090ti a little over a year ago, and it still runs circles around anything that I throw at it.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/jyLxYN
r8 my build
>intel
not my fault they have the fastest CPU on the market
Based but if you havent bought yet I'd go for some other brand than ASUS. Seems like they are getting a lot of flak right now for being israelites.
Zotac? I also think I'm getting a different motherboard. Completely forgot how shit Gigabyte can be.
Personally I went with MSI Suprim for my 4090 and Gigabyte (aorus) for my motherboard. It looks amazing. Only thing that I am seething about is that this is my first GPU without any promotional games to come with it.
I got an MSI mobo and it's been kind of a lemon, crappin out if I try running the RAM at full speed.
Then again, it is a basic 450, so maybe that has something to do with it.
b450-A Pro
Check Ganker if ur system is bottlenecking that GPU.
It's a 5700xt, and I doubt that a GPU would cause my ram to fail when running below the 3000hz it's rated for
Godspeed brother.
While I do have faith in the Lord, I'm not gonna ask him to get my jank MSI motherboard to work correctly.
Planning on going with ASRock next time, I've had a better experience with them.
Why is everybody going Intel, am I missing something? No love for 7800x3d? I want to build a new PC and I've been researching for a week now and I still can't decide between 13900k and 7800x3d. Intel runs extremely hot and power hungry, not sure it's worth it.
Because it's the fastest.
Not true, it depends on the game. There are games where 7800X3D is faster.
I always go Intel CPU's but I heard that AMD has serious value for the money, especially in GPU department.
If serious overclocking is for u, I guess AMD would be the pick. My 13900k is lightly overclocked and run at very optimal temps.
Then again I have very limited knowledge about this, go check Ganker PC building thread. There's no dumb questions there.
Better price/performnace ratio and better avaiability of non graphics unit ridden processors you have to pay more for.
>there is nothing new worth playing
>Why do I need to drop 3k on on a new high end PC?
Why would you need a high-end if there's nothing worth playing?
>brownoid moron can't into hypotheticals
He's not talking hypotheticals, he's saying PC gaming sucks now and using two exclusionary points to illustrate that
Alan Wake 2 is out soon and free at that cause Timmy paid for your copy.
Armored Core 6
Starfield
Baldurs Gate 3
Robocop Rogue City
Ok but does any of these games NEED a high-end?
None of those games require high end hardware.
Sorry I wasn't arguing just pointing out there's shit to play now and soon.
Alan Wake 2 and Starfield are not really worth playing.
Alan Wake 1 was a boring slog and this one looks like that with a black woman and TLoU influence.
Starfield is Fallout 4 in space, a boring open world where everything is scaled and you do nothing but shoot and loot with the RPG system as deep as a puddle.
Rest look good
I mean Alan Wake 2 is free so it's worth a try if you are in doubt. Personally I am looking forward to Starfield.
>Alan Wake 2 is free
So is every game, I don't want to waste my time with trash.
>I'm looking forward to Starfield
Why? Bethesda games are boring as frick, nothing you do matters due to the level scaling.
Alan Wake is going to have memtracing, but you're really better off just watching it on youtube cause it looks like it's goingg to have the same boring shadowpeople combat as AW1
Dude looks like Robert Downey Jr on crack
Is a 7900XTX worth it if I don't care about fake frames and fake resolutions? Are AMD drivers still shit?
Ask >>>Ganker PC builder thread
I want to talk with my Gankerros.
Can I get some opinions/comments on how good this would be or what games I will be able to play or not?
I've been waiting for a looooong time to buy a new PC but prices just won't go down so I might get a used one, this is near where I live:
>cpu: ryzen 5 5600x
>gpu: RTX 3060 ti aorus
>mb: aorus b550
>ram 2x16gb ddr4 3200mhz(I think this is a mistake and it's probably 16gb in 2x8gb format?)
>power supply: corsair rm 850i
>hd 1tb m.2 (no brand stated)
I've been disconnected from pc things from a long time, so I'm not quite sure about some things. For example, never heard of aorus, I'd feel better if the mb was asus instead for example but maybe it's not bad. also I prefer intel cpus over amd but beggars can't be choosers I guess
>8gb vram
Don't do it.
lunch box ran out of cum to drink
quit editing his eyes upsidedown, it's fricking nightmare fuel
frick him. he's a piece of shit.
