The last game made by Crystal Dynamics that I played was Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, which was pretty good, but it was so long ago that it doesn't mean much.
The fact that they are doing a partnership at this point and not since the beginning makes me worried that they rebooted the reboot or something like that.

Still, mite be cool, we know nothing of "the initiative" so that's at least a competent developer involved for sure, even if their Avengers game flopped I reckon.

      >Tim Schafer leaving for retirement
      No he is not.

The truth is that MS Pajeets can’t manage all these studios, once these studios are fully under the wing of MS and all their in-dev games are out it is going to be a disaster. Avowed, this, 343 sucks, Coalition sucks, MS is just bad at this.

        Anonymous

Is Phil bad at managing or something?

          Anonymous

It’s definitely not just Phil although it’s his problem. MS has problems with managing these titles and putting the right people in place in these studios. Compare it to the way Sony has gotten all their AAA games out the door and it’s just a massive obvious difference.

It sucks because I have a PC, I want a good Halo, I want good Gears, I want good Perfect Dark, MS just keeps fumbling this shit. Bethesda MIGHT be ok for now because they have Todd and Pete and they’re obviously big and experienced but if they leave and get replaced with Satya’s 3rd nephew Sanjay then forget it, just write them off immediately.

It's because the CEO of Initiative used to be the CEO of Crystal Dynamics.

This is how it goes when you're owned by Pajeetsoft. They buy studios and let idiots call the shots instead of taking a hardline approach to running things which means they end up paying too much "talent" with nothing to show for them and eventually getting shuttered.
See: 343i, The Initiative, Lionhead, FASA, Ensemble and many more. Their approach only works if someone actually emotionally invested in the game/s is at the helm like Schafer or the people at Relic making AoE4.

Like anyone gives a frick about the PD story. It was just a GE engine "future" game with generic movie/x files tropes from the time implemented in the most basic way.
Nobody cares about the fricking character "Joanna Dark"

I liked her in the N64 and GBC games. You said it yourself, she's just a bunch of basic tropes, so there's no real excuse for them to frick her up.

Anyway, I'm more concerned about the overall plot.

        >Anyway, I'm more concerned about the overall plot.
They're likely doing some variant of the PD: Core plot. Just without the time travel and Joanna Dark from the future being the antagonist and stuff. The loose brush strokes of eco-terrorism and the dataDyne building in Cairo and shit like that.

The voice was always the weird part for me. Elite secret agent but sounds like some bird you met in the pub. Maybe it goes down better outside of the UK.

Joanna Dark is supposed to have a personable, "everywoman" voice. Her most iconic disguise is as an air hostess. So imagine Joanna Dark as an air hostess or a secretary or something. That's the character. Soft spoken, demure, apologetic for existing because half the staff at the Carrington Institute loathe her.

      >Like anyone gives a frick about the PD story.
I do. They put a huge amount of effort into the world building and aesthetics.
      >Nobody cares about the fricking character "Joanna Dark"
They cared so little that her redesign in Zero prompted a mass fanbase revolt the IP has yet to recover from. I don't mind the PD: Zero actress, though. She voices Jennifer in Terminator: Resistance.
