HEY GIVE THAT BACK
>breadbugs will bury treasures now instead of taking them to their pikmin rape den
I actually like them better now.
>go through a bush after clearing out a sublevel
>find a couple of dead dwarf bulborbs
>momentary confusion as to how they got there
I'm only on PIkmin 4's day 3.
No one cares name gay
Also apparently Moss isn't homophobic anymore because subreddits started using her to bully Trans kids into suicide
How the frick
Someone created pic related and everyone took it literally and now the official story is that someone used a Moss meme to make a transgirl kill himself.
Oh so it didn't even happen then?
It probably happened now
This is why I exclusively use Moss
>reddit has a reddit for telling people you unsubbed from something
I'm posting this on the reddit where redditors learn about reddits
We need a Ganker board for that!
It's just /s4s/
I like this post because you are either someone who hasn't been to /s4s/ since that April Fool's Day or you are someone who has been there every day since that April Fool's Day.
The actual board for talking about your opinions on things you saw on Ganker is a general on /trash/.
The answer was always /trash/ but for a board that blatantly has it in the name, /s4s/ was the easy target to mention, also for the record, I have never been to /s4s/, at most I just assume the wording of what it stands for to be a related topic
/s4s/ was a gag board made as a parody of the subreddit r/shitredditsays, which was a relatively notorious militant SJW hotbed about a decade ago. It even had upvotes/downvotes and reddit formatting. When the joke was over, it was designated /s4s/ - Shitposters 4n Steroids for a few days and then returned to the original name (but has been for shitposting ever since). Mostly you just post a pink girl with blue hair and force memes. You COULD try to have meta Ganker talk there, since it's within the rules, but you'd probably get nothing but replies requesting mustache grooming guides or a fat woman saying you should respect truckers. That's what usually happens when someone stumbles in and cross-posts to another board to talk about something.
Makes sense
Reminds me that I ignore %99 of the shit in /trash/ and go straight for the fetish threads that /d/ are too pussy to have
I learned there was a subreddit against giving birth and they hate pewdiepie now.
/our girl/
I would like to apologise for calling Moss "that homosexual dog" during my playthrough, clearly she is way more based than I am
I will now proceed to kneel for an undetermined amount of time
leddit moment
>hey, it's that homosexual dog
/ourdog/
A Ganker post of a reddit post of a reddit post of a reddit post
I now require more moss memes
post threads
>casualize homophobia
>think it's the funniest shit ever to tell gay men and women there's something wrong with them
>wait, NOT THE HECKIN' TRANSERINOS
I feel this speaks a lot about current society on several levels.
It was supposed to be ironic. Once people started using the meme for legitimate hate speech then its too far.
Hate speech against trannies isn't a thing it's just reality
~~*hate speech*~~
>legit hate speech
Trans people are fragile as crystal because their entire identity is based on a delusion that crumbles to dust if even 1 person doesn't play along with it.
I'm gay and yes it's really funny
Damn, Pikmin 4really is game on the year
Proof?
In my heart, Moss will always be a bigot
that sucks, I hope she at least got a lot of them
Were they actually using it to bully them into suicide or just making the ironic jokes? Either way, it's dumb to just try to kill the whole meme over a few people going a bit far.
Just make more memes to counter Reddit troonys
ah frick i forgot his big face spot
a crop might work better too
>his
FRICK I JUST MISGENDERED MOSS
NOT MY FAULT I WOULD GREATLY PREFER IF MOSS WAS MALE IT WOULD BE FUNNIER
it's a dog who cares
I don't but i don't want to come off as a secondary
1 > 4 > 3 > 2 btw
move 2 to the front and your ranking is now objectively correct 🙂
2 is a tedious, boring dungeon crawler, it's not even a pikmin game
the caves kick ass, it has the best soundtrack in the series, it has the best new pikmin types, it has the og piklopedia + treasure hoard, it has the best engine/controls, it's the only other game in the series that comes close to pikmin 1's atmosphere, it has louie (the best character), it has sacho and his based car horn whistle, really it just has everything, unlike pikmin 3 which is dumb, gay and also stupid
i'm hoping we get another gigaleak with earthbound 64 tons of gc-era stuff in it, but i'd be surprised if it ever happens again considering they've probably assassinated everyone at ique by now
>considering they've probably assassinated everyone at ique by now
Oh don't you worry, they're still around. They're the ones maintaining the fricking awful N64 emulator on NSO and are why one of the better teams like NERD isn't making a better emulator.
>the caves kick ass
i wanted to kms during the entirety of wistful wild's caves and wanted the game to just end, i never found the caves interesting because pikmin is not a very complex game if you take away the time management elements
>it has the best soundtrack in the series
soundtrack is very good I agree but 1 is consistently excellent, i'd say 1 is better overall
>it has the og piklopedia + treasure hoard,
this is good but it is not actually part of the game
>it has the best engine/controls
mostly true, i do think there's an issue sometimes where it's hard to throw a certain type of pikmin, but again this doesn't mean anything if it's used mostly in caves and not in dandori overworld gameplay
>it's the only other game in the series that comes close to pikmin 1's atmosphere
it's the closest but it is far from it, 2 is honestly cartoonish in its presentation, with the perfectly pristine treasures that are in places they shouldn't be, the caves which are utterly non-sensical and feel like alternate dimensions, the sprays making burping/farting noises, the doodlebug brapping, it's the closest but it's still very far away from 1
>it has louie (the best character)
hot take but i have never enjoyed louie, there's nothing for me to like about him, i am just completely indifferent, he has no dimension unlike olimar
is he autistic? maybe but you can definitely make an autistic character more interesting than louie is now
also he's entirely mute outside of his notes in the piklopedia which is just him talking about food which doesn't really elaborate much on his personality besides him liking food
>it has shacho and his based car horn whistle
shacho is funny unlike louie so i agree
based
cringe
I can't imagine why this would be funny to anyone
Someone on the internet might get mad at it, so we don't have to be funny.
I like being edgy, it's fun.
homosexual detected
To be completely honest I never liked the "Moss is Homophobic" posts, it just feels like lefties getting satisfaction to call anything homophobic
The meme was already unfunny and run into the ground anyway, good riddance.
Do you think they'd remove its revival mechanic like they did with the Bulbears?
Probably. Only Moss is allowed to revive.
Part of me was sad they removed revivals, but after replaying 2 and almost always deciding "yeah, just petrify the fricker and don't deal with it" whenever I saw Groinks or Bulbears, I realized it wouldn't have even mattered. They were worth bypassing when it cost a spray, so they're even more worth it when freezing them is free.
I think there should be a volcano area in a mainline game.
we need more harsh environments for sure
Or a tundra
Agreed. 4 had too many woodsy areas, desperately needed a different biome that wasn't a beach or house.
I don't really like how pristine everything is, the house level is cool but it doesn't make any sense in a world where humanity is supposedly long gone
I thought it was implied thaf Sparklium is what keeps everything so fresh.
Its implied by Olimar that he's being watched by the ones who made the earth objects, meaning humans are there, but he might not be aware of them
It's implied that humans fricked off and evolved into the tiny spacemen actually
So no. Humans do not exist in pikmin and never will.
There was a noticeable decay of human ruins between 2 and 3, and this is a reboot which takes place before/at the time of 2.
If the game gets DLC, maybe we can, it was nice seeing Pikmin 3's DLC getting inhouse style areas that 4 designed around
I played up to day two and realized I don't actually like Pikmin.
Give it another day or two for the tutorials to end.
I'd rather pick women
Brittany......Shepherd......Plasm Wraith........
OATCHI wiener
SO GOOD
Empress Bulblax?
I am not sure how to feel about the Smoky Progg being the midboss of the final cave instead of being a boss of its own cave or even secret boss again
Guess it's just to show how overpowered your team is with the tools you have available (mostly Oatchi charge)
It's mainly a night mission boss anyway
>Replaying Pikmin 3
>Brittany talks about how Hocotatians are strictly vegetarian
Louie is a monster, there's no way he will integrate back to society after what he's done.
Also, 3 has worst level design, even 1 has more interesting and varied level layouts even if they are smaller. Every level is just gates and bridges with random enemies thrown around.
Pikmin 3 was formatted kind of like a 3d Zelda game when it came to maps and bosses.
Mario Artist Talent Studio was such an aimless product and it surprised the hell out of me that Nintendo immediately considered a spiritual successor to it for the Gamecube. I guess Tomodachi Life ended up being that.
Pikmin 1, 2, and 4 are truly amazing games.
Pikmin 3 is a good game.
No
unf unf unf
what was gaylie's problem?
WAH!
Honestly this is being pretty fun so far. On day 8 and got all Bikmin types and on the Nether Reactor. Some of the gags even made me laugh a bit, good times.
Are the other Bikmin hacks fun? Can anybody recommend me other hacks that involve new areas, enemies or Pikmin types?
from what i remember shes has frog ptsd and is a lil b***hy
3 had a better final boss
purpussy
>TFW your Moss Troons out and 41%s
I somehow managed to play through the entire game and platinum every dandori challenge and battle without understanding how the 1,5,10 flowers work. I thought it was "get X pikmin of the flower's color" for the entire game but clearly it's not. How does it work?
You get extra pikmin if the color of the pikmin transporting it matches the color of the puck.
Are you oversimplifying for the sake of keeping the answer simple or did they shift away from "but the bigger denominations give out less than what they say if you mismatch, instead of giving a bonus" at some point and I never noticed?
No, that's true. 1 pellets give 2 for matching the color, 5 and bigger give the number it says for matching, less if you don't match.
Oh, my bad. I genuinely thought they all gave a bonus for matching or the exact number for non-matching.
also you need the onion obv
I wonder if it's worth grinding out Pinks early even if they don't have the best pathing just so you can carry back stuff while ignoring enemies in a 'completing the game as fast as possible' gameplay. Waiting until the final area to have more than 10 Pinks without grinding just makes them dead weight otherwise but I don't know if it's worth purposely deviating that much for the singular Pink candypop buds.
Depending on the area, I think whites are way better, with enough they can outspeed anything and since winged barely cheat anymore they steal their role.
winged pikmin have basically no utility in the main story. Their niches are all gone because treasure carrying is done better by whites and aerial combat is done better by the other types in general because of the lock-on.
Playing 4 now on Yuzu, I got Hero's Hideaway unlocked but have done nothing in Serene Shores. Should I go through all the caves in the Shores before moving on? I hear there are multiple kinds of Pikmin to find in there.
serene shores is the best area in the game
make sure you have plenty of blues and maybe a blue onion already
I got the blue onion right away in the first area, they're the type of Pikmin I have the most of, in fact.
I was concerned that either I wouldn't be equipped for later areas if I don't get winged or white or purple or whatever from caves in previous areas, or that I wouldn't have anything left to do by the time I get all the other onions. I guess either way I'm fricked.
Pretty sure every area gives you the pikmin you need, but I 100%'d each area before moving on, thought it was much more interesting that way and you get all the onions you need and so on
So I just beat all four Pikmin games, what were my thoughts on them?
"when is pikmin 5"
"that Pikmin2 game sure is slightly bellow average compared to other Pikmin games"
cringe
How do you fix them?
Is good pathing really all it takes?
>actual pathing for aerial routes
>2x attack multiplier against enemies who can fly or are flying
>completely immune to falling down bottomless pits
maybe also make their charge more precise and faster than other types of pikmin.
I couldn't tell you, I don't really understand what the purpose of them is in this one.
Very few situations call for them and anything they can do Oatchi and other pikmin seem to do just as well. I'm not a hardcore speedrun autist so maybe they are optimal in certain spots for maximum efficiency but I have no idea.
Do they still have crush immunity in 4? If so, then yes, pathing is all it takes which I like because I'm a sucker for vertical level design and Pinks-done-right encourage it.
>Do they still have crush immunity in 4?
What? You're thinking of rocks.
No, pinks in 3 were immune to every crushing attack except Plasm Wraith's. They get knocked back instead. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vyu_mt_QHI8
Is that why none die here?
https://twitter.com/LilyTheDrawDork/status/1689739497196736514
I remember an anon posting a similar webm here but his entire army got massacred and I was wondering what the difference was.
actually rewatching that anon's webm again he had a mine with him like a fricking moron
I think that's just because the long legs's animation doesn't kill at all.
If they're too low to the ground they might get crushed but otherwise they're more or less immune to crushing
i wonder if that's why they give you flying pikmin in this cave. not that it really did anything
I wonder if the guys who made the olimar levels for 3 DX were devs on 4.
I was given Hey Pikmin! for my birthday because someone remembered me offhandedly mentioning that I forgot to pick it up before the eShop closed, and it's alright.
Almost done 100%ing this game. Only mainline Pikmin I havent played is 3, worth grabbing at all?
Sure. It's very easy though. I started and beat it within the same day, and that was after sleeping and going to work.
Yes. Buy it for the challenge missions alone. Assuming you play it solo (no co-op), getting plats on them is some of the hardest dandori the franchise has to offer
It's nice you can turn upgrades off again. The caves are a lot more interesting with the lights off.
i only got the one lamp upgrade because i liked the darkness
It does look cooler like that but frick if I'm going to actually play with a limited field of vision
https://twitter.com/petzcatz2/status/1689322298916970501
I don't want to wait another 10 years for a new game bros
don't make me say it
one simply possesses the knowledge
This is ny first time playing pikmin and while I can reach S in the dandori battles I am a brainlet in the with the multitasking ones,I only have two silver medals
Any sugestions?
Get into the groove of having Oatchi do tasks on his own, and depending on the enemy you can leave a handful of Pikmin to deal with it on their own.
5 reds can defeat a Firery Blowhog and carry it back on their own. And while 5 rocks can't carry the Porcupine boss back by themselves, you can leave them to both distract and fight that boss on their own.
My strategy is usual to focus on killing every enemy, breaking down walls, and getting as many pikmin as I can asap, and then leave all of the treasure hauling for last.
If there are gold nugget piles sometimes it is worth throwing a couple pikmin on it right away, a few times I got cucked out of a plat because I didn't have enough time at the end to get it all because I waited too long.
use oatchi as a second captain more
I generally prioritize filling out the ranks of my pikmin squad first. More pikmin under your command makes everything quicker.
Use the drone to scope out the map and just think about the most efficient order to do everything, then once you give it a try and get a feeling for the flow of the map you should be able to ace it in a repeat play, or at least do much better.
Some specific things that helped me when I realized them:
>Oatchi digs way faster than pikmin
>Oatchi should always be either digging or taking a big item back to base
>send only a few pikmin to each raw material/gold pile and let them chip away at the piles over time
>send only a few pikmin to build each structure unless you're at a bottleneck and need the structure done immediately and/or have the pikmin to spare
Just keep a single simple concept in mind and build your whole strategy around it. That being
>You can do more and do it quicker with more Pikmin.
Leaving 2-5 pikmin at a gold pile and letting them run 5-10 round trips while you take the majority to kill stuff and transport treasure is more efficient than sending 20-something at a pile, knocking it out in one fell swoop, and having to follow them back to base to pick them all up immediately. The same applies for a gate, if you have enough pikmin to get everything moving back; it's usually more efficient to let a couple smack the gate the whole time instead of getting the negligible carry speed boost on a single item out of a whole convoy.
Also, late game, get a feel for what enemies Oatchi can kill unsupervised while you're using the other captain. As strong as charging is, sending him to chomp entire rooms to death while you're killing everything on the other side of the map with a full army is always faster.
Why is the baldy back and not the beady?
The piklopedia seems to hint that they did it for the sole gameplay reason of letting pikmin climb up the legs...but it just feels weird having baldy but not shaggy because the baldy is an incomplete design.
It's a "phase 2" of a boss.
It's like bringing back waterwraith but without the rollers or titan dweevil without the weapons.
DLC
How long do you think it'll be til we get DLC?
it was only like a few months for pikmin 3 i think
but i imagine they'll probably try to do something more substantive this time like a new area(s)?
maybe thats too optimistic in terms of content
but probably within a year if so
I just replayed the first one and beat it in 14 days.
I don't understand how speedrunners are able to throw their Pikmin so fast. Is there a difference in game mechanics from version to version? I still have the original on my Gamecube, and the input lag for each Pikmin throw is fricking insane.
Use the C-stick to physically move your Pikmin closer to Olimar's back. As long as they're there, you can throw one every 2 frames, I think it is.
imagine putting him in the oven and watching him swell up...hahahahahah...
poppin' fresh! you glutinous little doughboy!
A lot these are just too abstract. I know what I'm looking at logically, but it's hard to make my brain understand it, if that makes sense.
Extremely likely that was intentional.
The gen 1 pokemon sprites were pretty strange representations.
Yeah but still recognizable as long as you know what they are. Look at the fourth row, second column one. It's still cool though
I hope Pikmin 4 being a huge success means we don't have to wait a decade for the next one. I'd like to see Pikmin 5 at least in the 2nd or 3rd year of the Switch 2's life.
I've only just realized how much the Bikmin 269 devs optimized the game. Playing different mods and even vanilla Pikmin 2 shows the lack of speed and general inefficiency of the Pikmin, making them feel lobotomized. Half the time I'll disband them right in front of a treasure and they don't even try to pick it up.
Honestly when I saw that the captains and Bikmin run at shoe upgrade speed without having it yet, I knew my perception of the game was going to be different
>finished ALL the main missions
>no super secret ending
am i missing something or is it really just like this?
answer
can someone post pictures of the dog? the yellow one

The drawing isn't actually porn, schizo. Settle the frick down
it is
Uhh she's not white
She is white, she's tanned. b***h looks like Tetra.
She has the second darkest skin color in the game, that's not being tanned, that's straight up burnt.
Come on now, we've already been through this with Frye from Splatoon, especially now with the emphasis on more skin colors on the Pikmin franchise.
I wish skin color was treated no different than any other external feature. It's going to take a while to get there on societal level, but an individual can start it any day
Indeed.
Now stop calling her white and start calling her Shepherd.
She's a gyaru with blue colored contacts.
But you said she was white.
Which one is it?
No, I'm not that anon and I don't think she's white because I think she's a gyaru.
I think she's actually black/indian because a third of the cast are black.
Bernard however is a giga homie, dude's darker than coal.
They're space aliens how tf are they a certain ethnicity? It's just the conditions of the planet or the region of the plant theyre from
Why are you only replying to me and not the ones that claim she is white or japanese.
>japanese
Giyan gyaru.
She's a black indian eurasian giyan, thank you very much.
She's a black indian eurasian giyan gyaru!
She's actually Giyan.
Honestly after taking time to understand the characters of 4 I really do not understand why Shepard wasn’t the playable captain. They emphasized just how terrified she is of creatures, and her cute scene of quivering behind Collin on her first interaction with Pikmin would’ve made for a good hero’s journey of how she grows more brave and lives up to the captain status of her past 98 generations.
If they made a rudimentary character creator for the generic npcs first it would make sense to recycle it for player characters
It would also make sense to give us an actual well-defined character with an arc who doesn't have to rely on constant chatter from everyone else to communicate literally everything to the player. Olimar's Shipwreck Tale showcases nicely how much better it is to have a defined character who can react to things and connect with the player to increase investment in the story and setting.
For example, every time Shepherd came over the radio to say, "Oatchi came back to you! What a good boy!" I just got annoyed and mad. But when Olimar says, "Good girl, Moss, you found me!" it's charming and cute. It's a subtle but important difference.
Honestly Olimar being so fleshed out feels like some kind of accident on the dev's part. I bet they were genuinely baffled that people complained about the bland logs and missing piklopedia in 3 because they figured children hate reading anything longer than a sentence.
I hate that that's true to an extent. I was the odd one out as a lad, I thought the Piklopedia and the Pokedex were the most incredible things as a kid. I still love shit like that! It means the devs actually put meaning into their setting, not just "let's slap scrimblo bimblo next to the skrunkles". Fromsoft's item descriptions are such a boon for people like me.
Yes, you get it. I feel good when I find enjoyment to receive a game that I can tell received that same enjoyment in its creation
I don't think so otherwise they wouldn't have included it in 3DX and 4
They're clearly aware people like it.
It wasn't in the initial launch of 3 cause the base game was sparse in content to begin with
She’s even playable in the Dandori battles
I hope she gets DLC or something
No one in pikmin is asian they dont look even remotely Asian
Evan the 3 captains in 2 are based on white Mario characters
Shepherd's eye lids are pale which proves she is tan, and she looks nothing like a chink
Hocotatians are space japs and Koppaites are space whites
Oh yes, because Louie looks so japanese. Goddamn.
yeah
Do you realize their eyes are closed and not squinted? They can open their eyes and they look normal
Anon... He can be seen blinking in the Pikmin 2 intro cutscene.
That's a style thing, because either way that still doesn't imply he's squinting
Anon, stop arguing with someone so obviously LITERALLY autistic.
These are the same people who don't understand how Arale could beat Vegeta because they cannot comprehend something existing outside of the established as a joke.
the helmet gag here sells the pic
>Helmet not covering their leaves
They're gonna drown
I just bought the game yesterday.
This is my first Pikmin game.
I'm still in the tutorial, so I'm really not sure about this game yet, but it's intriguing at the very least. I'm in the Frist cave where you find wold ice Pikmin now.
Is the entire game full of radio call interruptions or does it let me off the leash at some point so I can just go nuts without interruptions?
Hope the tutorial is over soon. It's pretty long.
Tutorial is kinda extreme by Pikmin standards but it basically stops past a certain point.
Once Oatchi gets his growth spurt the game more or less just drops you into each zone and lets you have at it. The radio comms still come in at certain points like Pikmin getting attacked by a new element though, just skip those kind of cutscenes since getting interrupted at times like that is very annoying.
sounds good, by the way do I have to wait until Pikmin have carried stuff to the ship before I can leave caves?
Also, will they all come with me even if I don't pick them up at the entrance again? I assume yes, because anything else would be bad design by Nintendo standards.
>do I have to wait until Pikmin have carried stuff to the ship before I can leave caves?
yes if it's not in the ship you haven't collected it.
>will they all come with me even if I don't pick them up at the entrance again?
you can leave or go into a new floor without calling every pikmin. when you enter or leave a cave it asks you what you want your pikmin loadout to be
>by the way do I have to wait until Pikmin have carried stuff to the ship before I can leave caves?
Yes, because part of Pikmin carrying shit is assuming you disabled all the traps and aren't going to let them blunder into the path of a monster that will eat them.
>Also, will they all come with me even if I don't pick them up at the entrance again?
Yes, any and all pikmin will move down with you when you go to the next floor or leave, so you don't have to go wandering back and forth to collect them(or unlock Oatchi's ability to collect stray pikmin for you) when it's time to moe on. The game tells you this whenever you "activate" the next floor entrance.
The first area of the game is a "tutorial island"
Once you get to the second area, most interruptions will be sparse, save for
>HOLY FRICK A NEW PIKMIN
or
>IS THAT [PLOT POINT]
How would you feel if this was Pikmin 5?
>UI returns to classic bubble aesthetic and story likely returns to an Olimar and Louie one.
>Much larger areas, even more so than 4. Maybe five areas total, with each area having at least 4 caves.
>area themes would be: classic forest garden area, beach area, mountainside/cliffside area, abandoned city area and house area (sorta like Hero’s Hideaway but covering more ground).
>Caves are completely reworked. No longer enemy gauntlet dungeon crawler levels and are now simply extensions of the overworld more or less that provide more variety in locations and visuals.
>they function more closely to Zelda dungeons, with puzzles to solve in order to get to the boss and treasure at the end. Think pic related. Some will be more linear, like classic caves, but none to the same extent of 2.
>in terms of bosses, this game will strike a keen balance between 3’s fewer but gigantic set piece boss battles and 2/4’s smaller, end-of-cave-like bosses. The smaller, more traditional bosses will of course be in caves and lots of mini-bosses throughout the game, however each overworld area will have a single Pikmin 3 style boss to act as the apex predator. These larger bosses will likely signify that an overworld is basically complete once you’ve defeated it.
>visually, the areas will hold the hyper realistic visuals of Pikmin 3, with less “video-gamey” structure and uniformity, such as all of the caves in 4 having sprinkler valve covers and entrances, even in places where that doesn’t make sense.
>cave entrances, exits and everything in between will be designed to look as realistic as possible. Some will start off by entering through a sewer grate, while others will simply be a hole in the wall.
>the enemies and characters, however, will keep the signature cartoony look that Pikmin 4 returned to, instead of Pikmin 3’s hyper realistic art style when it comes to enemies.
Just played through Pikmin 1 yesterday and holy shit how did we get anything done with the complete braindead pathing they had in the first game. There's also way more enemies than I remember, the Forest Navel in particular is just crawling with dudes
One of the most memorable posts I've seen from this board during release week was someone complaining about how sparse the areas in 4 with enemies. I agree.
Serene shores and the last area in the campaign are the only areas that truly felt like an older pikmin area where every corner you turn there was an enemy that truly stopped you in your tracks to deal with.
The rest not so much. (olimar's tale felt good tho)
I mean maybe Pikmin 1s areas are like that but I remember Pikmin 2s areas being about as sparse as 4s in terms of enemies. Awakening wood has like, what, 7 enemies total?
It's like that in 3 too. Wistful wild and the back half of Valley of Repose does have a lot of enemies... but yeah it's kinda why I dislike 2 the most but loved it so much as a kid. Basically a glorified hub zone
Music make you lose control
Music make you lose control
Music make you lose control
Not me I beat music
I frick the music
>people say "yoooo groovy long legs has the BEST music in the series and is the BEST pikmin boss fight ever"
>his "music" is like three different five second loops with no melody and an airhorn at the end cuz haha funny and he's trivial to beat
he's okay but he's really overrated
even if it's simple shit i do find the whole shtick very cute
it's a fight that introduces a new mechanic while being a fun spin on an old boss. it caught a lot of people off guard and got a lot of resets. that's sort of what makes a good memorable pikmin boss like the water wraith or the man at legs.
It's also one of the few bosses that people can't just cheese with oatchi dash or bombrock spam so people were ACTUALLY forced to fight it.
>it caught a lot of people off guard and got a lot of resets.
...how? I don't even know what mechanic you're saying it introduced, unless you mean stomping to the beat is a mechanic? For me the whole fight was:
>get on Oatchi
>throw all the yellow pikmin onto the orb body
>call them all back when the orb is obviously about to throw them off
>run a circle around it until it stops shooting its gun
>repeat
It took one try and I've never even played a pikmin game before this one. What about it was difficult for people?
Greed and misdirection. It's a devilish trick to old time players.
People who have fought other long leg bosses know that long leg fights go
>stomps around, lowers its head, knocks them off and gets angry
A common strategy for the average long legs fight is to just to take 15-20 yellows, stand in the center and attack/call until it dies.
So they are introduced with a new variant.
>I know how to fight this! I'll just stand in the center again
>Wow! Oatchi completely trivializes this fight! They're all safe in one centralized location underneath the ball. I'm a genius. Nobody is dying toda-
>BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAP
and just like that your entire army is dancing
>and just like that your entire army is dancing
Huh, I never even saw that happen. I thought the log reference to dancing was just a cute nod to the musical nature of the boss and not something literal.
Name a better Arachnorb
man at legs is actually kinda threatening so that
They both fall into the category of 'once you know their gimmick they're harmless'which is pretty much like 95% of every pikmin boss if I'm being honest
>the category of 'once you know their gimmick they're harmless'
Yeah it's a bit of a shame. Still, it was fun first fight. I called my Pikmin ahead of time when I first fought him because I was worried that it was going to be Poison he was spraying followed up with Raging Long-Legs stomping or something. That would be one shit storm of a combo attack.
Man-At-Legs is a joke in 4
He's actually more dangerous than he was in 2 since he aims between the captain and your pikmin instead of just the tailend but Oatchi doesn't give a shit.
His projectiles move slower than 2
name a boss that isn't a joke in 4
Titan Blowhogs are all fun and games until they start chucking Pikmin into bottomless pits. I had much more trouble with that floor than the Empress Bulblax one which people tend to rage at.
Oatchi has that effect on women.
>the Blue paint gives Louie blue shits
>the Dragonfruit gives Louie red shits
There's at least 2 Piklopedia entries dedicated to the color of Louie's shit. How many game series let you know what can change the color of someone's shit?
How does each one of them taste?

When, if ever, are we gonna get DLC for 4?
If it does happen probably next year
I really appreciate the rewind mechanic in Shipwreck Tale, moreso than in the main game. I feel like there's really no way to know how to tackle an area until you play through it for at least a day, so being able to just have a practice run and then rewind to the arrival point and execute real plans without having to stumble through all 15 days just to get to retry everything is so nice.
I just started pikmin 4 is it any good? I skipped 3 but really enjoyed 1 and 2 when I was a kid. I would be playing it now but I have the shits
4 is a better 2 but it has problems of its own. Things like the auto lock-on and the constant popups will likely grate on you after a while.
I had zero issue with the auto lock on in my entire 45 hours of playing this game. Not even in the 7th leaf trial story
anyone who says "4 is a better 2" needs to be euthanized lol. i do think it's a better game than 4 though despite its many issues
*better game than pikmin 3, my "old good new bad" brain disease is interefering with my typing apparently
">Wow! Oatchi completely trivializes this fight!"
correction: "wow! rushing into groovy's body with almost 100 spicied pikmin completely trivializes this fight!" i love the concept behind groovy and the stupid memey edm boss music but i didn't even see the confusion effect the first time i battled him. imo p2 man-at-legs is still the best arachnorb variation
But you can kill man at legs in 2 just as fast with spicy spray.
Also you don't have 100 pikmin when you fight him. You have like 60.
>you don't have 100 pikmin when you fight him. You have like 60
you basically do though? iirc i had 70 on the overworld by this point but you get so many wild pikmin in caves that it might as well be 100. also you're forgetting hole of heroes 13 lol
this is what i meant when i said the reddit dogs were a mistake. we should've had a rideable bulbmin goddamn it
>Also you don't have 100 pikmin when you fight him. You have like 60.
>he doesn't pick up every wild pikmin and protect them
I found so many wild pikmin in that cave there was a tooltip on one of the loading screens that had to tell me if I get 100 pikmin the wild pikmin sprouts will stop spawning.
It's a great game. Like
said there are some minor annoyances but I think the fact that those relatively small issues are the main gripes people bring up is a testament to how great everything else is in the game.
Pikmin was never meant to be hard so who cares
Hey heads up, those idiot redditors are trying to sat Moss is gay NOW because someone made a real edgy joke.
MOSS IS HOMOPHOBIC, DO NOT LET THEM UNDO THAT.
>redditors are trying to say Moss is gay
It's too late it's already been done.
Honestly Moss looks like a closet lesbian anyway.
I will not have queerness ruin my favorite series. Moss is a card carrying bigot.
It wouldn't be this joke, would it? Honestly I just drew it because I remembered seeing a very similar joke with Mario and Luigi years ago
No, just a very basic meme on Moss bullying people to death and the doing it over again.
Nice drawing btw.
thank you
Nah it was a shitty meme pick about bullying Trannies to death and since Trannies are the only thing in the world besides the merchants you aren't allowed to make edgy jokes about it's a literal troony genocide in their mind
>get the ability to control where pikmin move
FINALLY!
>activating it is tied to the camera reset button
FRICK!
This makes it so fricking obnoxious to use. I set up the camera where I want it so I can see everything that's currently going on (and that's almost NEVER the direction Olimar is facing), just freeze it exactly where it is when I'm swarming pikmin!
There is literally no use for swarming in this game when you can just charge or ride on oatchi. In past games it was helpful because the AI was bad and it helped keep them around you but in 4 It's a novelty item.
I find it useful for fighting enemies when I don't have Moss with me because pikmin suck at following close or dodging attacks. Or at least, I WOULD find it useful if it didn't involve fighting the camera with every button press.
>mfw i perform platinum level dandori
>mfw I got Platinum on Dig Deep without the Pluckaphone/ any post-game abilities
How many Pikmin could fit up the average man's urethra before he noticed?
depends on the type
ten.
Pikmin are not that small. I don't think even 1 could fit comfortably
Best shot might be the glowies because they're basically ethereal. Next might be the winged and white ones. I bet you could even get a few ice ones to slide right up there.
Pikmin are like the size of a dime, I don't think that's going up your dick without you feeling it.
You know, Pikmin 1 is the only one where it's almost never a good idea to just take an equal amount of each pikmin type
For me it's either
>33 of each
or
>70 blues, 15 reds 15 yellows
the same thing for 4 games and you keep eating it up. I hope it makes you happy
Every pikmin game is radically different
Her name is Emma, just Emma

>encounter dirt mound
>it could contain an unknown number of raw materials or even just a single bomb
>no way of knowing the correct number of pikmin to use
>make too many pikmin dig it up and the extra ones will just stand there idle until you notice and go find them
>make too few pikmin dig it up and any extra materials will just be left behind forever unless you notice because they're not considered a "pile"
For a game that keeps yelling at me to not babysit the pikmin and just let them work/multitask it sure does want me to babysit the pikmin all the time over the dumbest shit like this. I should be able to send a couple pikmin to dig up the mound and they should automatically keep returning until all the materials are gone.
When are we getting a Louie DLC?
What exactly is the cave entrance supposed to be? I can't figure it out.
It's a pipe valve. You never see these outside? They're pretty common
Ah, this got me going in the right direction and I found pic related. And no, I don't think I've ever seen a valve cover like this. I've only seen water valves in big central boxes.
Sprinkler valve access port, Japan. It even says "valve" in moonrunes on the top of the lid.

In Pikmin 4, what do I do to trigger the ending again after having already completed the game?
Do I have to fight the final boss again?
Talk to Bernard, I think.
That's it, thanks anon.
name a pikmin 4 boss and tell how you'd make it harder
>Foolix
Impregnates your pikmin and makes you pay child support after 9 days
I think Groovy should spray everywhere except under him when he's red, as a trick.
Tell me why you shouldn't frick off and have a nice day.
what the hell was his problem?
Ugly and proud
I feel like Pikmin 4 would've ruined his sound effects and made him a pushover so I'm not too miffed that he's not in it
If he was in 4 he would've gotten a cool jingle.
Also he should've been in this game, he could've been a perfect enemy for Rock Pikmin to shatter the face plate. Either way he's not a hard enemy to take down in 2 to begin withm
>groink without the face plate
i'm sickened but curious, especially since that would mean his entire "pants" being broken off too if I'm looking at his render correctly
My son was just born, any name ideas
Louie
Sephiroth
xXx_Sephiroth_xXx
Don't let the doctor's israelite him
breadbugger
Emperor Bulblax
Name him my favourite Pikmin character, Hocotate Ship
Turok
Wollywog
Charlie, that's like an actual name you could use and if your son ever asks you who you named him after you just tell him the third best pikmin captain
Dovahkiin
Louie Shacho Olimar Shepherd XXX
Oatchie
I bricked my pikmin 2 save in Dolphin due to savestates. No matter what I do now whenever the game attempts to save normally it freezes. I guess this is what I get for being a filthy savescummer.
Can pikmin 3 be emulated? I really don't want to buy it if I don't have to and I want to play it next before playing 4.
>Can pikmin 3 be emulated?
Works fine in Ryujinx except after getting Winged Pikmin it starts randomly crashing semi-infrequently. But still mostly fine, I beat it.
finish pikmin 2 anyway, it's better lol
i'm emulating 3 rn and yuzu runs it well on my aging cpu, but every cutscene other than the intro doesn't work because yuzu sucks. maybe it's because of my old gpu drivers, idk frick it
9 days is doable at your skill level, just go watch some 6/8 day tutorials and study what higher-level players do. following a route and dividing each area into chunks will help a lot
take distant spring for example - since you're not doing it in one day, you can make things easier for yourself later by getting the bottom half's parts, bombing the stone wall near the onion (the other one's a trap), and working on bridges/walls for the next day, hell you could even kill some enemies if you're not confident enough with luring or deloading
>pikmin is not a very complex game if you take away the time management elements
see, part of the reason why i like pikmin so much is how uncomfortable it can be despite being a cute nintendo game on the surface, and p2 still has that quality, it just exists as stressful dungeon crawling rather than overworld time management. i do think the caves themselves could be better, but i still dig them and 4 didn't improve them for 2gays like me anyway
>2 is honestly cartoonish
it's goofier than 1, but a lot of the darker undertones are still there (the waterwraith, louie potentially trying to kill his coworkers, the only remnants of human civilization being mass produced garbage, etc.), i think it's better than 3 and 4 in that sense. also the doodlebug is funny :/
>(louie) has no dimension unlike olimar
to me, louie is just as interesting as olimar, it's just not as obvious because olimar gets tons of dialogue telling us about him while louie is this silent, enigmatic agent of chaos. he's a tragic autistic gremlin that's a villain without actually being a villain and i love him, and also he's mute, unlike the rescue corps, which never, ever shut the FRICK up
I beat Pikmin again and did better again
But I feel like I'm at my limit, I don't know how people can do these areas in any less than 3 days each
There's a separate speedrun category for 1 called Low-Pikmin. The rules boil down to "get all 30 parts and never sprout more than 50 total pikmin, even to replace a dead one." Even with those circumstances, they can finish in 9 days. The takeaway from this is that you've got two major areas for improvement:
>losing too many pikmin
>growing too many pikmin, even beyond making up for the ones you're replacing
There is far more leeway when you can have a full squad of 100, but having spares means you can afford to be sloppy, and sloppiness is inefficient. Just tighten up your combat (and learn when you can start ignoring bodies) and you'll be closer to a single digit count than you realize.
I think the hardest thing for me is Day 2, I only got the Eternal Fuel Dynamo and the Radar on this run. Having such a limited amount of pikmin and having to manage growing and plucking them is hard. I return to Impact Site after getting blues and use it as a grow day, so everything after that is a lot easier.
foh is definitely the most miserable area in p1 for low day attempts, on my 8 day playthrough i managed to get 6 parts on day 2 but i still can't fathom getting everything in a single day without tons of grinding. you could try following the beginner speedrun route https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zU2sjKLWGZs with some adjustments - you only need 4 parts on day 2 to unlock fn, so instead of killing the snagrets, you could just run straight to the efd + bombs and go for the radar, bolt and nova blaster or something, the shock absorber and sagittarius aren't that hard to get either. two day foh isn't really that bad, just focus on the parts you feel most comfortable getting without blues
I got 10 with more deaths so i think u could do it.
I took my time and restarted a lot when a pikmin died, only at the start did I let deaths happen.
but man it was a ton of fun and I spent a lot more time playing the game than I thought I would. Only thing I have left is the challenge levels.
also, what did she mean by this?
cbt
You now remember the FireFlinger Groink from Hey Pikmin
It would've been neat to see some of the Hey Pikmin enemies in 4 but the only ones we got are just sort of implied ones in the form of the bigger enemy variants
>"I have made yet another Pikmin-related discovery. Just when I was about to exceed 100 Pikmin in the field, the Onion stopped expelling seeds, yet the total number of Pikmin continued to climb. It seems that once there are 100 Pikmin in the field, subsequent seeds get stored inside the Onion. Thus, no more than 100 Pikmin can be in the field at one time in any area."
Why does Olimar say this every time instead of just the first time it happens
At least in the GC version idk about others
>trying to beat Sun Speckled Terrace in 1 day in Olimars Ship Tale
What the hell? This shit is impossible.
Master that infinite rush and BELIEVE.
B-but the Titan Blowhog
Ignore the first Puffy Blowhog guarding one of the ship parts
>They made the abnormally large Hey Pikmin bosses as specific variants in 4
FRICKING KINO
I tried out the demo, but it doesn't seem like my kind of game. Also, what's the purpose of the daily time limit? Seems like it's just there to annoy you.
>I tried out the demo, but it doesn't seem like my kind of game
The demo sucks because it's the early part with excessive tutorials. The game gets better afterwards. Maybe try it again while skipping any dialogue and see if it's more fun.
>Also, what's the purpose of the daily time limit? Seems like it's just there to annoy you.
Pikmin 1 had a day limit, basically you had 30 days to beat the game. Pikmin 2 removed the day limit but kept the individual day time limit. It's there to make sure you strategize and divide your pikmin efficiently, doing multiple things at once. It's a core part of what makes Pikmin fun, otherwise you would just babysit your group and only do one thing at once.
>doing boss rush in Bikmin again for some reason
>the Bikmin I send to carry an item instead walk into the boss spawn
>70% of the map is currently unusable due to the enemies
You little shits
Red Pikmin
he looks like he fricks dwarf bulborbs
Wife didn't like the names but he got a 10 on the apgars so I'm happy
Imagine if Pikmin didn't have a top-down view, that would fricking suck
What does he even mean by this
I guess he got his way in 3
>"I aimed to make everyone feel as if the camera moved with them"
>Pikmin, a game where the camera DOES NOT MOVE unless you press L
seriously what did he mean by this
>playing all of Pikmin 1 with the camera up your ass
Even as an omega casual when I first played Pikmin 1, it was not fun to be unable to see shit. Hell, it's hard enough making sure these brats don't off themselves even with helicopter parent camera enabled.
