>play as a generic soldier for the "villain" faction

Any games like this?
and yes it's a fetish

Pretty much every Call of Duty
Deserves a (you)
>cool aesthetics
Operator man shit is garbage style
He said a soldier with no individuality, name or anything.
not him but these are all online (and don't have the aesthetic either)
based and truthpilled
>play as generic soldier fighting for villain faction
I think just about any Call of Duty fits perfectly.
Helghasts did nothing wrong.
Funny how the moronic army Hispanic gunned down the leader when facing him unarmed in 2. I loled.
this , imagine getting chased from your planet to a radiactive hellhole just because you were making more money than Earth and it made them Seethe
>Have the coolest designs
>Make them the enemy
The reboot (which will never happen) should be us playing the helghasts.
That makes sense though. You're going to be seeing more of them, you want them to look cool.
I wish
would
>hair
Too much individuality. Shave that shit and put on the helmet soldier.
Foxhole.
Play as a collie if you wanna be evil.
Killzone feels like a super underrated shooter game series that shouldn't be forgotten.
sad that its own stewards are desperately trying to do just that
Too bad, Enjoy Niko Avacado: Tears of the kingdom
I loved killzone when I was a kid. I have not played it in years tho how does it hold up?
Botzone is kino
weighty and floaty controls are executed well despite being flawed conceptually
The campaign has lots of character and set pieces, but I hope you like browns and greys with some splashes of red and dark green.
it holds up very well. Probably the best of the hp auto Regen shooters
>Botzone
QRD?
Multyplayer maps but offline with bots
Basically the Call of Duty Ghosts thing where you can do AI matches. I think 3 and Mercenary had it.
Also Killzone 1. A friend of mine and I had a lot of fun playing the two of us (helghast) against the other 8 or 10 enemy bots on hard difficulty
>Vektan Slums
>Supply Drop
>Bot difficulty : Hard
>60:00
Yep its gaming time
Assault on Beach Head. A narrow map, but hell, how fun it was to charge towards the breach
Killzone 1 started it all that's why people b***hed about the brainlet AI in the campaign. You were essentially fighting multiplayer bots in scripted sequences.
Its a product of the time. You couldn't make it now much less have a game where you play as the Helghast. Its why those dutchie homosexuals shat out some 5 games playing as the ISA despite seeing the writing on the wall.
Any games where it's revealed that you were the bad guys all along? But like unironically?
I don't think they could get away with this now
Haze?
Trepang2, except its super shittily executed because !Bezos is an actual butthole himself throughout the game and the org had no reason to betray you other than they considered you disposable.
its a convoluted story that makes no sense (also why did they add the backrooms, wtf)
The gunplay, movement and weapons are great though.
It was just anomoly shit for the sake of spookyness.
Explains why they added literal zombies.
The mothman was interesting but the final fight with it sucked (should have ended in the underground testing arena).
The whispers and the phantoms were great, they should have sticked to that shit instead of the convoluted mess it is now.
Brigador. Adds a whole new layer to the opening tutorial if you sped through squishing all those funny little yellow things running around.
You're the guy from the /tfg/ threads aren't you
Who?
BF2 was so good, the modding scene being able to recreate that canceled BF3 game is just icing on the cake.
STAND THEM UP AND KNOCK EM DOWN
Literally all of Battlefield (Except 2042)
I'd say Brigador but then again, you know from the start that you're the bad guy in this world.
Imagine your neighborhood being razed to the ground by a guy with a paper plate for a mask
I only didn't include Brigador on my list because they have individuality, but they definitely check the boxes. Also Brigador is sick as frick.
>Brigador
redpill me on this game, I've seen it shilled several times in threads about "evil" games
It's an isometric, fast paced mech action game with fully destructible environments and custom loadouts. You play a Brigador, a mercenary who has betrayed their entire planet for the chance of getting offworld and carry out a number of jobs against military, government, paramilitary, and civilian targets for the benefit of a shady resistance faction in exchange. It's pretty free range with the loadout building so you can enter missions with an unstoppable death machine or show up on a motorcycle equipped with a single machinegun, lot of freedom. Gameplay is mostly about using the environment to your advantage as you try and stealth or fight your way through large military units.
It's a pretty fricking good game.
You work for a galaxy spanning megacorp to undermine the independence movement after their head of state dies. Pacifist playthrough is not an option since every objective ends with someone dying.
in TL:dr of the lore
>Dictator of the local planet died
>everything going to shit as theres a powerstruggle
>the character you choose to play is a merc (either from any of the faction trying to keep or get power or some other )
>you get objectives to assassinate and destroy things from all the factions for your employer to take over the planet , just so you can get your ticket out of the planet
The lore is really good, the galaxy is ruled by ultra-elitist spacers descended from earth's 0.01% that see any planetbound humans as a lesser form of life and have "advanced" their morality to the point they sous vide their clone offspring in birthing vats as widely lauded art and entertainment
The planet you're from is one of the only places in the galaxy that resists them thanks to the orbital guns the now-deceased revolutionary dictator built everywhere and his almost-universal embargo against any interplanetary trade
Your employers are the megacorps that the dictator rebelled against who want to "open" the planet to trade and exploitation again by hiring on-planet mercs to blow up the guns so their armies and fleets can land and they can reconquer it.
The dictator's colony was an early model, more modern colonies are "efficiency societies" where all goods shipped to the colony are 100% disposable and surveillance is everywhere to make revolution and independence impossible. Thats why one of the pilots is a paper-plate mask guy, he's a tribal from one of those efficiency societies that rebelled and collapsed and the spacers shipped him there because they love his style of primitive violence.
Call of Duty. You're a faceless soldier with no personality fighting to destroy foreign countries and bring child castration and anal sex to it in the name of your lobbyists.
>>cool aesthetics like picrelated
They literally stole the design from that one chinese cartoon
...and that's a good thing!
Gas Mask panzergrenadiers very creative.
Nier Automata
Rwds when
but anon in shadow fall you get to play as the female helghast who wears no mask, has no british accent and acts nothing like the enemies we came to know and love.
So they did try to please you in a tincy wincy way.
I dont remember that at all. was that dlc? I only remember that you dress up as a helghast to get on a train or something
I know that Guerrilla now has neither the balls nor the will to make a new Killzone where you play as a helghast, so why not give the IP to a third party team and develop it during the First Extrasolar War so as to test the waters for a future title set perhaps after 4 or during the first 3
>was that dlc?
Is the last mission
>Is the last mission
>shadowfall came out 10 years ago
>still no PC port
AIEEEEEEEE
FEAR 2 REBORN DLC
Halo ODST
Considering you're fighting for the NWO warcrime committing UNSC. Ita just that the Covenant made everyone kinda drop their grievances towards em as it's a better alternative than being glassed by Space Fundamentalists
NOOO YOU CANT JUST BE FACELESS GRUNT YOU MUST BE QUIRKY OPERATOR WITH TONS OF BACKSTORY AND YOUR EVERY RESPONSE IS A QUIP OR SOMETHING
This is why I love RE so much.
HUNK game when?
Leaks tell us that a HUNK game slated for like 3-4 years from now got cancelled early on. Hopefully we get another standalone Mercenaries which is basically a HUNK game; even just reusing RE Engine assets you could make a killer Mercenaries game.
Playable Helghast would only work if there’s an enemy worse than them that isn’t human so liberal journos don’t throw a fit over playing as a fascist nationalist faction.
perfect opportunity for a Killzone/Resistance crossover game with the Helghast fighting the Chimera
Killzone
this guy was a real bro
>have an interesting premise
>lock it to some garbage hardware to farm piggies because muh exclusivity
Could've done what GTA did with Vice City Stories and port it over to the mainstream platforms. Least it wouldn't die a pathetic death.
was his name Boris?
Yes. Boris was great.
>Any Battlefield/Enemy Territory/Battlefront game
>Angels Fall First
>Opposing Force
>One of those HL2 mods where you play combine
>Halo Reach
>Gears Tactics
>MSG Zeonic Front
tfw no cog boy shooter
> Play as special forces for the "good" faction
> Partial individuality linked to specialization on the job.
> Fight as part of a small tightly linked squad
> Cool gameplay
You should try it.
game?
nta but Republic Commando
mercenary was the closest we got to playable helghast campaign
>game starts with player as a member of the "bad" guys
>"wait a minute, i've just discovered we're the bad guys"
>immediately switches sides
every fricking time.
I hate this cliché so much it's unreal.
>first chapter you play as the bad guys
>have a moral epiphany at the end
>betray them and defect to le heckin' wholesome rebellerinos
EABF2 being a perfect example.
BF2 2017
>bunch of shady, black ops types who have spent many years murdering people in the night and upsetting planetary regimes
>see one attack on Vardos and immediately switch sides
BF2 2005
>"When the 501st was finally rotated out of Felucia, Aayla Secura made a point of seeing us off personally, calling us the bravest soldiers she had ever seen. It's a good thing we were wearing helmets, because none of us could bear to look her in the eye."
Doesn't even compare.
I don't even get what the Emperor's plan is. What, just because he is dead that means the entire galaxy has to burn? And beyond that, how does that make sense with nu-wars trilogy where he is making the Final Order? Disneywars is a mess.
>Disneywars
Yidsneywars*
even in EU when it was still canon the empire was pretty much set to fall the moment palpatine died because of the fact he got rid of the galactic senate etc that could elect a succesor , he legit had no plan for his downfall cause he never thought it could happen
worst part is that it was retconned later on that the clones knew about Order 66 beforehand so that the cartoon clones could be rebel good guys.
>EABF2 being a perfect example.
I fricking hate it.Long gone are the days of Battlefront 2 (2005)
Crackdown kinda?
they made a whole game about it. sequel announced recently
>helldivers
>bad guys
they're here to spread liberty, whether you asked for it or not
Entropy Zero is fun, especially as it just reuses lines from Half Life 2 for the main character.
Vaguely german inspired gas mask in a sci-fi setting is always a kino aesthetic.
Also love when Killzone gets put into collages of "Games that are actually political" but people take the wrong message because "Muh Helghast look like nazirinos"
>it all kicks off because the Helghan Corporation declared independence and Earth was bordering on an extinction level event if they did manage to win
The exception being that the Helghast were the ones to get glassed since there wasn't enough colonies to pull an Earth-Sirius War 2.0. Earth would not have been as desperate to jump ship if they had more planets to play around with. Their power was steadily waning and their only source of income was taxation on the two worlds themselves.
>Some mining colonist what ever the frick dispute
>rebellion
>frick these homies and shit on them
>exile them to frindges
>the left over dredges of society find a habitable planet
>initial settlers have life span of 10-20 years due to toxic shit atmosphere
>all descendants have to be almost permanently wearing masks
>hards times hard men meme
>overcome hardships, and problem themselves into being a rival superpower
>for no reason other than a potential rival space NATO declares sanctions followed by war
>end up facing a literal imperium tier war machine because these are no longer push over space miners
>barely wins the war and as a precaution decides to use a "experimental weapon"
>the weapon glasses the planet in it's entirety
>uuuuuuuuuh
>let's split earth in half and let them do their own thing on their side
Killzone had a perfect ending before the last sequel, it was grim and melancholic, it served it's purpose for modern sensibilities when it comes to fighting facist regimes, for these people would see it as a good ending, since bad guys got blown up. I get it that their entire thing was "lol you are not supposed to like these guys, we are totally not making them look in positive light, media pls", but it feels like they wanted to have their cake and eat it too.
It baffles me that they didn't go all in with the helghast being the actual good guys. Having the vektans realize they're being used for genocide join up to raid earth and restore peace would've been far more interesting. Could've been the set up for sequel bait going after mega corporations too.
Crusader games are all of this except the be part of an oppressive authoritarian regime.
for me it's the assault infantry and miner
assault infantry and rifleman for me
>WW1 aesthetics in space
I will buy your game
commando and rifleman
Sniper
>see a pair of discarded boots in the first game
>the way the textures looked I always thought the Helghast didn't actually have feet because it looked like only a stump could go in there
I always figured they were part cyborg or made heavy use of prosthetics because their whole genetic mutation angle.
Mounted Gunner because he's just ass. infantry with a space SPAS
>those big ass Jet Set Radio feet
kino
I always felt bad for the support troopers because of their big eyes and how they couldn't do anything to you once you got up close
Funnily enough pic related ticks all the boxes. You play as THE generic soldier in the setting, you work for a demon, you don't even have a serial number, you're a 1000 completely interchangable mooks, you are a part of oppressive regime and you have a cool cape (which prevents you from exploding since (you) are a human soul stuffed in a penguin suit alongside enough explosives to level a small town).
For me, it’s the Replica soldiers.
It's a bit of a reach but maybe the first killing floor? Most of the characters were faceless mask wearing soldiers hired by the government, their morality is unknown as they are only depicted nothing more than a clean up crew, but if it was any other zombie flick 99% of the time they would be depicted as villains.
Xcom 2 with proper mods
what is it that makes the faceless mook aesthetic so unbelievably KINO?
Because they're completely upfront. They're there to do a job and succeed or die trying.
No outrageous backstory
No monologue telling you their motives
No hesitation
Just action
>nobody cared about who I was before I put on the mask
Appeal to your internal fascist. Putting the greater purpose before yourself and blending into it as one of many sharing the same goal.
It’s this 100%, sorry I don’t make the rules. I just know I’ve identified with the grunt faceless mooks ever since I was a kid.
>hes just like me
Best thread on Ganker right now.
> install Stalker Anomaly
> pick Duty, Mercenary, or Monolith
> optional: turn on ironman mode for extra mr.nobody rp
>play mercenary
>spend most of your time ripping patches off of loners and turning duty into loot pinatas
>pull jobs for anyone who can afford it and isnt Duty or Monolith
>install the Shadow Company Mercenary voice pack for maximum NATO hired-gun RP
Another glorious day in the Dead City.
>Anomaly
Isn't this that mod I keep seeing people hating on for some reason or another, along with Gamma? What's the deal with that?
It's the internet. Everyone has to hate on whatever becomes big and because it "splits the fanbase". Anomaly is fine, it's open-zone RP. Each faction has a "story" which can be safely ignored. It's more about freeform Stalking in the zone with no restrictions. It also has a SHIT TON of mods. Gamma is just a modpack for Anomaly.
Anomaly is all the STALKER games stapled together with some love it or hate it gameplay/itemization
Gamma is a massive modpack for anomaly that is basically just escape from tarkov
The people hating on them are either vanilla STALKER purists or those who simply hate the nu-community of people who only played anomaly and it's modpacks
That's because it's an extremely popular sandbox mod, some claims its the one and only experience of stalker as it combines 3 base games into 1, while some who likes the game for the main quest hates it because of the claims of people neglecting the main games over Anomaly, Gamma is same, it's a 3-in-1 sandbox mod but different from Anomaly.
Imo if you want to experience the world of Stalker, I'd recommend the base game, but if you just want to larp as no-name soldier like what OP wants, I'd recommend Anomaly.
>think about installing Analmeme
>remember that I'll wander around for a bit, shoot some pigs, get bored and uninstall
Outside of the item bloat and repair autism there are some nice features here. Not many games out there can match the feeling of sitting under a bridge eating some fricken beans while its pissing down with rain.
Same, I often fantasize about Anomaly but when I actually install and play it I get bored real quick. I can play and enjoy SoC, CS, CoP because of the main quest, but Anomaly, I can't.
Anyone here have any good tips keeping myself focused on Anomaly? I want to get into it, but its really difficult as I can't shake the feeling of purposelessness when I actually sit down and play (also no. I won't play the main quest as that's just a recap of the base game)
set a goal
mine are usually:
>make 1million roubles
>get really good armor
>fully upgrade the gun I want
>max out rep with (at least) 1 faction
Killzone always had way better lore than the actual games' stories
I can't believe they went from such a kino franchise to THIS. Why?
Bump for Killzone
>horizon on PC
>uncharted on PC
>ratchet on PC
>spiderman on PC
>still no killzone on PC
why do they torture me so?
>too much Nazi iconography and aesthetics
>the protagonists that you play as aren't as sympathetic when put under scrutiny
The least they could do is port the first three games over as a compilation. It would save them from having to die on the PS2/PS3 like every other title from the gen.
this
people like the helghast too much, killzone is in political limbo
>peak aesthetic
>not really the good guys but also certainly not the bad guys either
Of course people prefer the Helghast.
?si=W3ybQ3twRxqESUQ4
>this was the Helghast at their peak since the First Extrasolar War with Earth
>everything after was just them on a fighting retreat
Makes you wonder what such a game would've been like if they did set it during that war. Could have done something comparable to Battlefront or Battlefield rather than boiling it down to some Snoy tier walk and talk garbage.
Why do the bad guys ALWAYS get the coolest aesthetics? IT'S NOT FRICKING FAIR AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH
me in the background
>having serial numbers instead of names is le dehumanizing
I never understood this meme
Closest you'll get with
>be part of an oppressive authoritarian regime
They show too much compassion because good guy syndrome or whatever the frick you want to call it. If they want Good Guy marines why don't they just use fricking Salamanders instead of smurfs or blood ravens or any other chapter.
I believe killzone has a chance to get a bigger following now than it did in the past with getting a audience in the alt right or whatever. Maybe that's why they won't do a port. Or the ps3 architect makes it really complicated for a port.
nah, snoy thinks their older games "don't look good enough for a modern audience" or something like that
The lore was cool, but the stories themselves were painful at times with how much it revolved around getting the characters into setpieces that showcased the ps3's capabilities
PC WWII Call of Duty series up to World At War had soviet campaigns.
