I wish people would make up their minds on whether this game has literally no anti-airs outside of DPs, or jumping is a death sentence because you'll get anti-aired by normals and die.
I bought it Day 1 because 8ing has arguably the best track record in the genre for enjoyable games that balance a low floor and a high ceiling. I couldn't play for a few days but I'm in the middle of Gold III with a 62% winrate which isn't bad.
Inquis is on the weaker side due to low damage while being in the lowest health bracket, & Grappler is better than people thought but needs patience and good reads. Ranger is really easy to learn and use decently while Berserker is kind of risky but the better you get the better he gets because he can use Conversion freely and enter Awakening at will.
Swift Master is probably Top 1 but his damage isn't that high. He's more of a 3-touch character if he gets a decent starter but he's SO good at getting that hit.

you can DP or jump or mash lows in those gaps to punish accordingly, though mashing lows is harder if your character's 2A is a mid

Only Berserker has those on demand because he can give himself white health, and its a tradeoff for the fact that he'll literally kill half of himself during the match for you.
I've seen Berserkers do combos that deal more self-damage than damage to their opponent. On the other hand I've seen them deal so much self-damage in a combo that they were able to put themselves into Awakening and either start healing it back or end on Super to maximize damage.
I don't expect a big patch to come any time soon for this game, but I'm thinking we'll get some kind of patch in the next month or so. I think this would probably be good: >Universal

From what I understand the main problems are that you can't rebind to the arrow keys, but that may be because they're already in use by P2. (Don't know if unbinding them there would free them up for P1)
The other problem is that if a keyboard gets somehow disconnected mid-fight, it won't reconnect until you return to the main menu...Though this is a problem for controllers as well.

Other guys started copying that shit and now we have this kind of server everywhere, even though you don't need a discord to play Strive for example, though it was 100% necessary to find matches in XRD
I remember during the betas I posted something like "Hitman has no sauce, he's too honest. He has to wait until he's almost dead to have anything interesting." Now less than 2 weeks from launch and Hitman is considered Top 3 by nearly every top player, one of the few people that's been #1 Ranked Worldwide is a Hitman main, he can shit plus frames out whenever he wants, his whiff punish game is godlike, his safe jump mix is subtlety scary, and then when he DOES enter Awakening he can DP over and over and either stay safe or deal 75% damage without needing to really confirm anything.

Wheel pressure had less gaps in the betas and people barely if ever rolled in them; in them I'm pretty sure you could force people to button block with 6S crossups during Wheel and just Guard Break you. I think they balanced her around Wheel but then also toned Wheel down. They need to make her less fragile and make 4S better.

Comboing off of a DP is cool and all, but you pretty much have to land a DP within three seconds of applying to get the combo.
