Kek I also fell asleep during that boss battle when you’re playing as hope and lightning, its like some giant jellyfish or some shit. Didn’t feel like level grinding to kill it so I just mashed auto battle, took me 58 minutes while My eyes were closed and dozing off

that boss is the casual filter of the game, kind of impressive you survived for 58 minutes though
that and the first fight snow has after getting shiva were the only story encounters that made me die multiple times.

I am playing it currently, it's surprisingly not shit, which is pretty rare for the franchise. It's like a competently designed version of FFX.
I used to hate XII back in the day but the zodiac version as well as the direction the IP took with XV and VIIR have changed my mind and i`ve come to like that one. Back in the day the original XII and X-2 were reason enough for me to believe SE had lost it touch so i didn`t really bother with XIII when it came out but as i said, my opinion on XII has changed so there is a chance i could actually care for it now. I`d still need to be properly convinced mind you. Sell it to me, why should i revisit this instead of say... some Zelda titles that are also in my backlog.

They had already spent a ton of money on marketing for the game before it even had a unified vision. The marketing team threw together the mock trailer with all the big flashy numbers and characters attacking in strings of attacks, and the developers liked it so much they used it as inspiration.

There is a good game and a good story there. Sadly the development problems hold it and none of the characters were developed correctly nor combat system. It's sad, it's one of the most beautiful games ever made, even by today's standards. You could easily pass as a current gen game with some touchups.

I already did some 5 odd years ago. I thought it was okay and enjoyed it enough to finish.
XIII-2 on the other hand was a massive pile of shit and I threw the disc out of the tray the moment the credits rolled. I think I had like 70/160 fragments by the time I beat it.
I've never been so hopelessly bored playing a video game before. Combat was mindless and 90% of all encounters could be won mashing autobattle with the other 10% only requiring an occasional switch to SEN/SEN/SEN. No idea how anyone finds that fun.
At first I thought it was neat how you could actually game over from the optional bosses but I got fed up when every single area had an encounter like that. Made me avoid big enemies altogether because I knew my Pokemon and crystariums weren't high enough level and I didn't feel like grinding.
I very much enjoyed how you could throw the Moogle at least. Not just Final Fantasy, but every video game in existence needs that.
