Well if he's playing a DS version then the audio quality is worse since the music in that game is more compressed to save space on the cartridge

Even compared to the original GBA release? Damn.

            Anonymous

Oh no, the GBA release has the same audio as the DS one.
It's just that the GBA audio in AA3 was compressed for storage space. Which makes it noticeably different from the music of AA1 and 2.

Why didn't they just use double-size cartridges like the first game? AA1 used a 64MB cart while the two sequels had to fit their data- which is mostly text and images that should compress fine, but apparently Japanese devs have problems with that- into a 32MB cart instead. Typical Capcom cheapness?

Is this a DS thing or a GBA thing?
If it's a DS thing, then the only reason why AA1 may have a stronger DS cart is for Rise From the Ashes - the extra case added in the port.
And since JFA and T&T don't have that, they didn't need a more powerful cartridge.

If this is a GBA feature, then Capcom were just being cheap, Ace Attorney wasn't ever a big selling thing, and definitely not so at the beginning. So Capcom likely didn't want a more expensive cart.

Oh it's fantastic, it perfectly ends the character arcs of everyone present, it tied the whole interconnecting plot of both T&T and the whole original trilogy. It was the perfect send off to the first three games of the Ace Attorney franchise.
The spectacle and emotion of it all allows the audience to look past, or not even noticed, some of the plot holes in the specifics of the murder plot.

T&T was originally on the GBA, like the previous two games.
However this game is significantly longer and larger than either preceding game.
This meant the storage space was really limited that time around.

That's why the GBA/DS versions of T&T have much worse audio quality in comparison to previous titles.
The audio was all compressed to save space on the cartridge

(spoilers for the fifth case of Trials and Tribulations)
The main thing is that the plot of Godot and Misty Fey is just super illogical. There are so many better ways for either of them to stop Morgan's plan. And while that works for Godot, as he's a character you can imagine preferring that plan to just telling the police or just telling Maya and Pearl, it makes no sense for Misty to go along with it. Unless she's just an idiot. Which hell, I guess maybe she is.

(spoilers obviously for this whole paragraph)
Well Godot is prideful, and I bet he wouldn't want to stoop so low as to have to talk to Wright to stop him and Maya from going to the event.
I think he probably wanted to prove his honor, and so he didn't just inform the police.
And since the whole plot revolved around spirit channeling, which is not common knowledge in the AA setting, that wasn't an option for him.
I can see why such a flawed character like Godot does what he does in the story.
The main weak link is Misty, who has no reason not to tell Maya outside of not wanting to break her cover.

I guess it kinda makes sense if you take into account that
        >Godot is too prideful to do the right thing
        >The police can't do anything since it's not a regular murder plot
and then headcanon some reason for Misty, like maybe
        >Misty doesn't know about Phoenix and has no confidants surrounding her daughter's life outside of Godot
        or
        >Misty is so afraid of letting her cover go that she refuses to go to Maya, Phoenix or the Police

Then I suppose the plot works

that's how i view it too, it's kinda silly but you can at least plot out an explanation for everything and that's really enough for me by the end of the day.
The case might be a tad overrated but it's still a fine conclusion to a trilogy that was held together by ducktape and a dream, and i feel like a lot of people don't understand how much on the fly the series was in those days.

Ganker told me they are better than Danganronpa. I like the trials to see who did it and if my guess was correct but everything else in the game rubs me in a wrong way
    Stupid caricatural characters
    Stupid story
    Stupid climax
Stupid minigames, there's two kind of minigames. The annoying ones trying really hard to be "dynamic" with lot of prompts but it's actually not interesting and you're not thinking, just getting through an annoying sequence ( sword clashes, hangman's gambit ), and the "logic" ones ( make your argument ) where you already know what happened and what you're trying to prove but you have to find the correct piece of argument intended by the devs to make a contradiction with the statements presented and the problem is that with the arguments you have it's easy to build a lot of also valid explanations BUT only one path was prepared in advance by the devs so it can get frustrating ( and again the game is trying hard to make you "play" with pointless additional elements like shooting at the white lines ). I just think all of it is executed in a very awkward and inelegant way.
And finally what I absolutely hate about Danganronpa is how there's all those big questions you're faced right off the bat and you wait and wait for the build up and to get an answer and either you get NOTHING or the reveal is piss poor.
    For example in Danganronpa 1:
-what the frick was the tragedy?
-how did Junko get access to the top seat of the academy, how did she end up in control? Was the headmaster the only guy in charge and she killed him?
-how did they take out the memories of the students and why?
-whats the goal of the despair gays
-where and how did they amass so much weight to run this entire school, even if it's a school for the gifted backed by the government how do you explain the weapons, traps, etc?
-who the frick built monokuma and why?

And it never stops. The more you interact the more you're wondering and the less it's explained
    So I'll like ace better?

I've always said that danganronpa writing was super messy. They have a good premise, but it really feels like their writers should get replaced if they ever make a new installment. Every single game just has retcons and hand-waves because they can't write for their life... oh, and all of them wrap up in such boring ways.

I think I said this in a previous thread but I have a love hate relationship with dang it grand pa, I'd consider Ace overall better yeah since even the parts I dislike, I see a way to salvage it, I honestly have trouble recommending DR to someone who enjoyed AA, while I can easily recommend AA to someone who loved DR.

Speaking of ace attorney, I haven't played ace attorney 5 but I heard that they just delete hobo phoenix and make him how he was in early trilogy.

Ngl it kinda turned me off from playing AA5 or AA6 because that just sounds stupid as frick. Hobo phoenix is probably my favorite character in the series but even outside of that it feels really annoying to throw away all that character progression.

Is it true? Or did I hear wrong?

it's not 100% thrown away, there's still parts of that in there but it's pushed more to the back of his mind/character then in the forefront.
Granted I'm also the person who has very mixed feeling on the concept in the first place so it being like this wasn't a deal breaker for me.

I think the concept of Phoenix turning into a chessmaster is awesome, but I have two main issues with how it's done, the first is that it feels lazy, hear me out.
Its realistic and possible for the guy to completely change over the course of 7 years after having gone threw hardships, my issue is that it's just kinda dumped onto the player within the first 2 minutes of the game. I would've rather had a sequel staring this more jaded phoenix as he works on underground court cases or whatever where over the course of the game you see him shift into chessmaster hobo after losing his badge at the start. There is difference between seeing the change and playing threw the game, and it being dropped on your lap after a timeskip.
The second thing is more to do with AJ as a whole but it's hard not to think about what happened to his support circle of friends and why they aren't there in some way during this rough part of his life. These are really the two things that stop me from loving the shift in his character but I still see how this could've been really cool. I don't want to throw away this concept entirely, I just wanted to PLAY it for myself.

Yeah I definitely get it especially the second point. Phoenix by the time that he loses his badge has so many people that he can lean on so it's really fricking weird that he's unironically a fricking bum lmfao.

I just can't help but be mad at aa4 writing ovrrall opposed to Phoenix as a character because he's just so fricking cool. His mentor dynamic with Apollo is great and I fricking love seeing the character we followed through the trilogy be depicted as smart as he should be and always one step ahead. It's why the intro case is probably a top 5 case for me so far.

And yeah I agree I feel like we should've gotten more time to see him develop into it. Honestly, even the Phoenix we see in the flashback is different from trilogy Phoenix, much more wienery and such. I feel like a game about that could be good even. I'm imagining a game where for like the first 3 cases, a wienery phoenix is much more dominant and confident in his lawyering, case 4 he loses his badge, and you can have a bitter and jobless (but not homeless) Phoenix tutor a rookie Apollo for the last case. It'd be the same as case 1 of AA4 but it takes place like a year after Phoenix loses his badge and not way after.

Maybe that sounds stupid but I'd be down for it.

I would've taken that idea, the concept honestly is strong enough to work. It just needed more thought put behind it then it ended up having. It could've been a better way to have that "One last phoenix game for the road" feeling before fully shifting over to the new guy. one of the 4th game's issues is that it's split between the overarching plot involving Phoenix and Apollo desperately trying to scrap together any threads of a character arc while feeling more like Phoenix's blade than his own man
We either should've gotten this final chapter in Phoenix's life as a whole game before passing the torch or just a brand new character cast, not the Frankenstein's monster that we ended up getting.

Whenever you play as Apollo or Athena, he acts more like the AA4 version. Whenever you're playing as him, he's closer to the original trilogy for the most part.

The thing about Phoenix you need to understand that %90 of his personality is because we know what he thinks.
When you play as Phoenix in Apollo, some of his personality is still there.
AA5 and ESPECIALLY AA6 has Phoenix still feel like his Hobo self, just not as elaborate, when you don't play as him.

I like his futura saga characterization because he feels renewed and a "I can be the MIa that stays alive for Apollo and Athena" and I appreciate that

Hobo phoenix is still there when you aren't playing as him, he just doesn't have a reason to be a chess master. But you can tell he still feels more adult like.
Especially when the plot threatens Trucy, Apollo and Athena.
I definitely recommend playing them still, AA6 in particular has a really rough moment where Phoenix's character had to go through a rough situation

Alright I'll definitely check 5 and 6 out then. From the shit I've heard about those games they sounded pretty fun and I know some crazy shit happens, I was just worried about the Phoenix situation.

Fair enough, I'm not gonna say Phoenix is perfect, but he definitely retains some of that seriousness from AJ.
I'm assuming your going to emulate it given the Eshop is down, or you can get the Apollo Justice collection, I suggest you get the DLC, especially DD's, it's meant to be Phoenix's first case after getting reinstated and is probably the best case in DD so definitely don't miss it.

The build up to Godot's mask shenanigans is fricking KINO
    >the appron
    >when phoenix can only see his mask's lights after getting hit with a cup of coffe and allegedly blinded
    >''im not much for color''
    its so good

I seriously don't understand why he gets so much hate here, him being somewhat incompetent but holding it together with confidence and charisma is pure fricking kino. He also wasn't really outright evil, you could understand what was driving him, he's a great flawed character and antagonist but I guess the average Ganker user would rather have every villain some epic untouchable megamind to take down

is he hated here? i've never seen that, but then again i never spend too much time in AA threads. i always thought he was the best prosecutor.

I tried playing the latest AA where it was set in medievil japan or some shit, at first I thought the characters were ok, but the first murder was so completely nonsensical I dropped the second case. The dialogue was so redundant and repeated the same shit over and over again, every character is moronic beyond belief ("wow this witness just destroyed evidence in front of us, guess we still need to arrest the other guy!") And you spend two cases defending yourself which got old real fast.
How the frick haven't they made a single good game since Investigations?

    Is the anime worth watching?
I tried a few episodes but it felt cheap. It seemed to lose a lot of the impact the games had.

It’s alright, certain cases have a bit more than the game could ever convey given the type of game and limitations they were working with. Turnabout Big Top is far and away better in the anime for example.

I didn't even consider the investigation sections.
I skipped through a few random episodes and I saw nothing but them standing in the courtroom and I thought that was the entire show.

Ace Attorney does that a lot, with all 3 of it's sagas.
The instruments get worse but the mood is much better.

SoJ does the same when compared to DD and AJ
and AAI2 is especially the same when compared to the better instruments of AAI1

I didn't watch the anime just because we know everything about it, how is the filler case though? I'll consider watching it if the filler new case is any good.

I've never had such a response from music as much as the Ace attorney series, at least from the first three.

    ?t=1222

It had to be the restrictions of the GBA to create such a response, they HAD to have amazing tunes, art, characters, frick the cases were the worst part logically but I didn't care, I managed to get through the bulk of it, though there are some moments i can recall where I was said frick it im looking that shit up, but i only do that if ive spent an hour looking and exhausted all the options, then go back to playing blind and solving the cases.

Once you get the hand of it over several cases it starts to come more naturally imo

First game's and Apollo Justice's music is the best, but damn I think OP has some ear problem if he thinks that the third game somehow dropped it with how sexy Godot's theme is.

They made it slightly trance, and it worked because the original was also slightly trance. It didn't work when they were trying to get all fancy with it instead of playing it straight.
