The thing is, I think A LOT of people would love the parent experience but it has also been tainted culturally by bitter people and failed families. Getting replacement level childbearing going again would require that so many things in our society change that it might not be possible for a few generations but one thing that has to change completely is most cultures views on work and value, only then would we be able to slowly untangle the absolute cultural mess that "family values" is today.
Either that or we get thrown into a techno feudalism dystopia where the state dictates your fertility and everything is owned by singular individuals that live completely different lives from the rest of society.

I like having a challenge but I also want to see the story without having to repeat sections tons of times so I will play through in the "normal" difficulty first and then go back on the hardest. For example on CoD I'll play the campaign normal and then insane afterwards for more of a challenge.

because you generally want the biggest segment of society to be productive young people so more stuff gets done/made/maintained/paid for etc.
if there's no one having kids, everyone just grows old and useless and infrastructure/society/the economy will crumble.
in ye olden days old people would just die after they became useless, now we keep them alive 30+ years after they stop contributing to society and someone has to foot that bill (productivity wise)
