Well, Atlus and their fans could not lie about the content when promoting the game, look up the trailers and you'll mostly see the RPG elements, that's blatant false advertising.
the game is a slice-of-life adventure by day and RPG dungeon crawling by night. both elements of the game are consistently stated by fans and atlus advertising. if you dont enjoy regular amounts of reading or cutscenes accompanied by your standard issue button pressing, probably best to step away now
that's overly generous (and technically wrong, they raid palaces during the day)
most days you won't do any dungeon crawling. the game actively punishes you if you're spending time in the dungeons rather than getting laid
persona 5 is probably the worst paced persona in the series next to innocent sin, but at least the latter has a story worth following. reading isn't an excuse for the slog that p5 is

I've played Strikers, much better game, more actual gameplay and much less six-hour text-focused segments, plus it tells pretty much the same story so there's no point on even playing that 100 hour sleeping pill Royal.

It gets incredibly intense once you finalize the raid on Kamoshida's palace. The music really does a lot.
Then it goes back to being dogshit. Return the game, download the soundtrack, artbook, and some porn and let your imagination extract as much enjoyment as you can out of those things and you won't have to bother playing the game, which doesn't have any gameplay that does the music or art any justice.
OP here. Played a bit further, liked the tone when you arrived at Leblanche a lot more. If it ramps up to "le silly anime" from time to time I'm okay with it.

the game's story goes to shit right after the kamoshida palace is over with. it never recovers. it goes back up a bit at certain points in the story but it never reaches the high of the first dungeon. you can tell after the first palace they really struggled with tying all the story beats and locations they came up with beforehand together

For a short moment it gets better and then it dives into much deeper depths of your "cringe" than what you've experienced. P5 is awful as a Persona and a turnbased game.

This game much like too many JRPGs have the problem of re-explaining the damn concept 20 times. No i dont need an explanation every time we invade someones subconscious in how it works or what we need to do.
You should just play 4. It's like the polar opposite of 5. Normal down to earth cast and it's set in a small town instead of a big city. The stakes are much lower and the characters don't transform into turbo cringelord cosplayers to fight they just wear normal clothes.
