The only reason I bought one was because my launch PS4 had tiny storage space and it was getting tiresome having to juggle what to delete when installing games and updates. Ended up getting a bundle with a 1tb SSD which I think was a pretty good deal but in terms of having games it’s fricking dire.
The only exclusive I have bought since picking it up is FFXVI which I’ve enjoyed but having 1 (one) interesting game is pathetic so even with a pro version I don’t see it doing amazingly well.
As a machine to play PS4 games it’s great but I can’t see the point in getting it for any other reason and an upgrade on a genuine no gaems machine is just funny to me.

I know that my story will be a singular example, but I will tell you and everyone here why I bought it:
I had an EGS, Steam, GOG accounts with games on them, on EGS alone I had over 200 games, however, Epic Games deleted my account and my games were gone.

But anyhow, it was the straw that broke the camel's back for me, never ever, I said, I will purchase anything that you cannot own, so I switch to consoles because:
1. Better optimization.
2. With physical disks you get to actually own the games and do whatever you want with them, moronic refund terms don't apply to you, you are free to do anything you want with it.
3. By this point I was jerking off Naughty Dog because I wanted to play their games so badly, and it's also nice that I get to experience the exclusives when they actually come out and not 3-4 years later.
Keep in mind, I didn't have a PC yet by this point, only a barebones laptop for work, so buying a console seemed like an obvious choice if I wanted a comfy experience after a long day of work. Then I built a PC, 3060ti+R5 5600x, not the bleeding edge, but the bleeding edge cuts you, and you stuck always worrying about having the latest hardware and participate in this shit rat race for no reason, so I get the best of both worlds, I get optimized games for when they come out, I get every Xbox exclusive on PC for free because of qb, and I get a genuinely powerful PC to do some AE work.

I’d have to spend a tonne of money building a whole new computer, I said screw it and just bought a new PS5. I have a friend I play games with who plays on PC despite him spending like 3k on his build literally every time we play together he b***hes about lag, or stutters, or freezes or fps drops, or crashes or something not working properly or whatever. On PS5 you just press a button and it works every time.

Most, not all but most, PC games that support PS controllers natively let you change that in the options. Hell they even have Nintendo buttons when they never released on Switch like Death Stranding.

I have a PC and have been primarily a PC gamer for the last 25 years, all the way back to playing UO and EQ on launch.
It can't emulate PS4 games. It can't emulate PS3 games. It can't emulate PS5 games. And it's getting to a point where a lot of modern day ports are substantially worse at release on PC than they are on PS5. So much so that I've almost completely switched over to PS5. Game still have issues on PS5 but at least I don't have to deal with hours of broken shader compilation or dogshit optimization where developers just say "lmao just turn DLSS on and it's fine!". My 2500$ work/gaming rig shouldn't be running games like TLOU1R or Jedi Survivor the same or worse than a 400$ console box, and yet that's the current world of high profile ports.

30% at the absolute most. FF16s case is completely different as that game is like 50 hours long with 30 hours of cutscenes, and is legitimately a "movie game", but shit like GoW or Horizon are mostly just normal games.

Astro's Playroom actually looks like a cool game if you've had a rich history with Sony. Lots of callbacks to older Sony games, each level is based around a different era of Playstation. the only issue is if you're a kid and PS5 is your first console, you won't get it at all.

Why do people WANT exclusives? Exclusives are insanely anti-consumer and dictate you buying a specific platform to play a game. That's the dumbest shit ever.

uh, the people who remember when games were good?
Two reasons:
Exclusives are often created to take advantages of a consoles specific benefits, and thus look better in certain regards and often even perform better
Exclusives contribute to the "feeling" of a console. This is more obvious with retro consoles but for example the SNES, Genesis, and TG16 all had their own "feelings" and markets they catered to. This resulted in some genuinely cool games coming out for each, this continued on through the 5th and 6th gen, and even though the PS3 and 360 had a lot of multiplats they still had their niches they arguably catered today.
Those niches don't exist today, except with the soiwitch really. The XSX and PS5 might as well be the same fricking console.
Exclusives justify the purchase of the console. It's also the case that they tend to be the highest quality games for a given platform.
I buy a system because it's what my friends are playing, or because it lets me play games I already own, and that's pretty much it. I don't know anyone who's buying a system for one or two games, that seems fricking moronic. I've never heard anyone say they're buying a system for one game, and that's all that has ever been exclusive for the last 2 console gens (That's over a fricking decade, btw).

I've spent like 300 hours playing games on my PS5. I haven't played a single PS4 game without back compat enhancements, all of them had at least a 60 FPS patch, so don't come with your stupid false dichotomy "lmao why didn't you get a PS4 instead".
