What are you talking about? LGPE ad the original 151 + some regionals and Meltan's shit.
It was a crappy remake of the first 4 games. Blue, green, red, and yellow.
There was no Dex to cut.
That's like pissing yourself angry that Leaf green and Fire Red didn't have Silver and Gold Pokemon.

FRLG DID have Gold and Silver Pokemon

FRLG had johto pokemon post-game, you could even get a johto starter.
Together with emerald, I think you could get all generation 1, 2 and 3 pokemon

        >That's like pissing yourself angry that Leaf green and Fire Red didn't have Silver and Gold Pokemon.
But they did. RSE were the only games to not have all Pokemon until SWSH, because after the backlash that RSE's dex culling caused, GF realized it was a bad thing to do. Once again, until SWSH when they stopped caring what their customers think.

          >RSE were the only games to not have all Pokemon
They also did, they weren't obtainable but they were transferable. Which is true of every Gen until 8

Ruby and Sapphire still had all the pokemon up to that point coded into the game even if they weren't available, from LGPE, SHSW, onward the pokemon aren't even coded in anymore.

            Yeah I forgot about that.

You can't catch them in-game but they're coded in
You can transfer them in, you can trade for them, you can battle with/against them

That's not the case in Gen 8

Obvious exclusions were made from crossgen evolution lines when directly before this, all games had either come up with a solution (can be evolved directly after E4), embraced the changes (HGSS) and had included all Pokémon regardless of how well they fit into the region.

        >That was LGPE
        You mean Ruby and Saphire

They fixed this issue in many ways over the entire generation which makes it so that in post in sounds extremely obtuse but at the time actually kind of cool because different people could have entirely different Pokémon between the 5 mainline GBA games. Friendly reminder that even Gold/Silver required gen 1 games to fully get all Pokémon.

the last game with a full national pokedex was oras.
sm and usum allowed transfer of old mons, but with no actual dex entries

No one is talking about actual dex entries, these still exist in HOME or any Pokémon online database.

The reason I am replying to all of my replies as well as posting to begin with is that I am tired of people hating Sword and Shield for trends it didn't even start, when they are some of the best pairs of games that we have gotten in the past 2 decades.
        >no third version that makes the games obsolete, opted for DLC with all new content and Pokémon, in some cases
        >made training 10x easier
        >heavily supported during its main run, enough so that the meta game and BSS/VGC was fun again
        >Dynamax was a good mechanic without being too busted because D-Max and G-Max moves all had archtypes which could be known, unlike the absolute frickery of Z-moves
        >the regions were fun to explore and offered incentives for catching the same Pokémon over again for hardcore collectors (marks)

the hate campaign against what are some pretty good games even at just a game stance outside of a Pokémon stance is more "drone"like than me trying to defend them
I know that's a bad stance to take for a multibillion dollar company but I give credit where credit is due and TPCi had far worse releases on the Switch that don't get enough criticism.

You can just scratch off the last two things on your list. Using "Fun" as way to describe something normally means you can't describe what it really is as fun is completely subjective.
I never found the Dynamax challenges fun and the regions were barren safari zones you just used as a tall grass substitute on your straight line path to the next town.

Okay fine let me rephrase then
            >raid battles were interesting to build and plan for, like the Mewtwo raid. I had people in person to play these with, so we were able to grind these extremely hard and even kept tallies as to the different teams of four and how many Mewtwos they cleared.
            >Trainer Cards were a cool collectible because you could get multiple of the same trainer card and see progress, or you can go back and see trainer cards and teams of people you battled. Once again, I had a group of about 40 people to play the games with in-person so to collect all of these right before a multitype tournament was worthwhile and it is a great thing to look back on.
There you go, I really hope I wasn't having fun the wrong way.

They really weren't'. You just needed other people to beat them. Just go at them with the effective typing and have a team of people with the same idea and every challenge was toast.
Only time anyone would have considered it a challenge in any sense was if they didn't have enough people and the game gave you shitty npc trainers that were never up for the task.

No it was SM when they axed Megas and only brought back a handful of them as DLC. Moon was the last Pokémon game I ever bought. Might as well have set two 20 dollar bills on fire and asked someone to kick me in the balls, would have been a better experience.
And somehow, I held out hope for gen VIII… then they removed half the Pokémon from existence.

      >Another shit gimmick to replace the perfectly fine Mega Evolutions.
      >Terrible online play

You only like SW/SH for the porn.

Lots of these are literally lies, especially the part about bricked switches

          Anonymous

You say that but none of them are lies. There is video footage of a Switch bricking playing Sword from some japanese player. It even fricked with Some roku TVs since it made the Switch output a signal that caused them problems.
The animation thing. Completely true. Models for humans changed by Pokemon kept the same models just got a slightly altered texture. While getting nothing but different png splash effects for attack sliding the model arround in slightly different ways. Wouldn't call that lazy shit "Animation". Trainers even repeated animations from the 3ds games with Hou's Hand waving bullshit.
The open areas were giant nothingness filled with pokemon that all you had to do to travest was walk north in a straight line. The entire map was a straight line to finish. The open areas were entirely optional.
Nobody liked Gigantamax. It was a worse Mega Evolution they claimed was to combat having to make new models every time they wanted to make a new mega evolution. Yet they still gave new models to a few pokemon for their Gigantamax. The online was terrible there is not denying that and they did shove a subscription fee pokemon bank that replaced the better one.
And the story was about some fricking prophecy of 1000 years darkness that wasn't going to happen if the President didn't start it himself out of fear it was going to happen and nobody worrying about it. So nobody talked about it and did anything about it until the ass end when the prez jumps the gun and starts it himself. You unfrick the situation in a instant and resume playing a shitty pokemon game.
SW/SH was shit. But SV somehow managed to be considerably worse.

They had 4 years to make SW/SH since they got the fricking Switch Dev kit. But they instead decided to make a Shitty remake nobody cared about with dumbed down mechanics and Little Town Hero which showed Game Freak couldn't make games for shit and never could.

                Anonymous

I didn't say everyone bricked their shit. Just that it did happen with video evidence. 1 in 500k chance to brick your console is still a chance to brick it.
Ignoring that shit happened doesn't somehow make your shitty pokemon game less shit.

                Anonymous

                >1/500k chance
                Woah dude
If this was real that would definitely be an extremely useful thing to bring up as a point of criticism! Imagine a whopping 40 people's Switch's could have been bricked with no good evidence?!?

            Anonymous

All Switches like all electronic devices have a chance of randomly dying on you, it happened to like 3 people while playing this game (Like it has happened to any random number of people playing Mario, Zelda or Splatoon) and they blamed it on the game.

The next Pokemon game should be a soft reboot with a new batch of 150-200 Pokemon. Forget all the 10 million other pokemon. Just focus on making a polished game with a cool new region to explore. Bring the graphics up to at least 2010 standards. Maybe then we’ll have a decent game.

I'm more for just not making any more new pokemon for pokemon games.

      >different starters
      >different forms

It is the most fun games for normies but for people who want to finish the game is a nightmare. Distortion zones are garbage, the spiritomb quest had wisps that didn't spawn and the catch 20 of every mon is vomit inducing. When you play the game casually it is fun when you get the foam off the top it shows just how atrocious it is
