I honestly had a more immersive experience with google cardboard when there was a craze for people making VR porn videos years ago. Since getting actual VR no other programs or games really add enough of anything actually worthwhile to be worth the extra hassle that I don't have using my (plastic) cardboard visor with my phone and the pornhub app. Yeah it has potential and it being interactive is a big difference, but it's so far from being 'there' that it's hardly worth it.

If you set the FOV correctly, and the player knows what type of perspective warp its using, it should look fine, but the problem would be the position of the camera that is too close, that is the real issue, at least in that DVA video.

Depends on the avatar, we're transitioning from dynamic bone to physbone systems in where you do get blade and sorcery tier interactions with other avatars but its up to the modelers to update the models. The game has the systems in place however. Right now the community is trying to figure out how to add "creampie mechanics" to the game. Since they solved being able to quite literally grab a user's clothes and undress them without toggles.
That said the physbone system by itself from the devs is intricate enough to where you can interact with someone's ears/hear/boobs etc and have them respond. I'm out of date but the most advanced test avatar is this one:

VAM makes the whole model's mesh a collider by default via their 'soft body physics' thing, and in contrast to vrchat, this isn't an opt-in thing.

Not necessarily, headsets like the index or the vive use base stations to track everything so setting up vive pucks is pretty simple. It’s headsets that uses inside out tracking like oculus where the headset itself tracks the hands is when fbt becomes an issue. It’s still possible to get it to work, but it involves messing around in config files. Only vrchat and blade and sorcery support fbt but I could be wrong.

Oh for JAV VR it's not even an issue. Transfer them directly to the headset via USB and watch them natively with no compression or lag.

A game can adapt the actual distance between your eyes and project it 1-1 into the game world. Every tiny movement of your head gets mapped into the world, not just rotation but side to side as well. You're basically "there".

I have VR and even the handy, but every time I've tried VAM it's been a mess, now it seems easymate is outdated and the new thing vamx is also paid, I pirated it and it loaded some 3d menu on the scene but I was still confused about how to use it, probably I was missing content to load, like scenes and characters, there's any updated repack I can get and some tutorial I can learn how to use it?

Mainly, I'm thinking if you could set up motion tracking on a sex doll, then the experience would be unparalleled. The biggest issue for me is not being able to feel the model, and using the controllers to move limbs around is extremely cumbersome.

Stupid question, but I like using the Steam Media Player in VR, since I haven’t tried DeoVR or Skybox yet, but I can never open it by itself. It always opens Steam, puts me online, and then opens the Steam VR Home. I’m pretty sure the home is still running when I’m in the media player and it’s draining resources, because I’m suddenly getting major lag from 4-8k vids.
Anything I can do to just use the media player without the Home? Or can I use Skybox and Deo without opening Steam at all?
Having 19,000 hours on SteamVR because I’m watching vids and porn seems ridiculous.
I’m not entirely sure, because I used to use a Lenovo for WMR and I was able to play HentaiVR’s vids easily, like those ones where you’re Cloud in Aerith’s room with Tifa, but now it’s just chugging along at 5 fps on my Quest 2.
I suppose I could try the codec to see if it helps. Any idea which one I should grab? I’d appreciate whatever help comes.

The quest 2's advantage is price, The index for all it's fancy gubbins and features is a thousand dollar peice of shit, I have never seen such an expensive item require being sent back so much, and it took them an excessively long time to sell a cable seperately that was prone to slowly cutting itself ovver time because they designed it to get crushed by the headset.
Why is it so expensive? Not comparing it to oculus because they are probably selling at a loss to capture the metaverse or something. But the controllers are $280. They have a bit more too them than the steam controller, but I remember that being a normal price of $40-$60. Then there's the $150 base stations. What are they exactly? A camera with wireless communication? Also there was no attempt to be price competitive with the G2.

If you set the FOV correctly, and the player knows what type of perspective warp its using, it should look fine, but the problem would be the position of the camera that is too close, that is the real issue, at least in that DVA video.
Thats another problem that you can sometimes fix with the distance between eyes setting.
You also have plenty of examples where the creators haven't properly aligned the left and right eye images when converting it into a VR scene

Depends on the avatar, we're transitioning from dynamic bone to physbone systems in where you do get blade and sorcery tier interactions with other avatars but its up to the modelers to update the models. The game has the systems in place however. Right now the community is trying to figure out how to add "creampie mechanics" to the game. Since they solved being able to quite literally grab a user's clothes and undress them without toggles.
That said the physbone system by itself from the devs is intricate enough to where you can interact with someone's ears/hear/boobs etc and have them respond. I'm out of date but the most advanced test avatar is this one:

Makes sense. Either way, I'm continually surprised at how much VR has been improving. It's obviously reaching a critical threshold where it can support the level of realism and interaction that people socialize and frick each other in it, and I think that will drive a lot of investment, like how porn and video games really made video streaming develop to the point that we got YouTube and Twitch.
The main problem with it right now is how expensive it tends to be, the Quest 2 (or whatever they're calling themselves now) got popular because they decided to loss lead that shit and sell it way cheaper than they should, so a lot of people have been getting into VR lately, not a bad option really, just get a link cable and avoid using their built in store.
Not necessarily, headsets like the index or the vive use base stations to track everything so setting up vive pucks is pretty simple. It’s headsets that uses inside out tracking like oculus where the headset itself tracks the hands is when fbt becomes an issue. It’s still possible to get it to work, but it involves messing around in config files. Only vrchat and blade and sorcery support fbt but I could be wrong.
Thats my point, base stations suck dick, people don't want to put brackets on their walls and take up 5 plug sockets, they want a headset that is plug and play.

Stupid question, but I like using the Steam Media Player in VR, since I haven’t tried DeoVR or Skybox yet, but I can never open it by itself. It always opens Steam, puts me online, and then opens the Steam VR Home. I’m pretty sure the home is still running when I’m in the media player and it’s draining resources, because I’m suddenly getting major lag from 4-8k vids.
Anything I can do to just use the media player without the Home? Or can I use Skybox and Deo without opening Steam at all?
Having 19,000 hours on SteamVR because I’m watching vids and porn seems ridiculous.

you probably dont have the windows codec for high res videos
I’m not entirely sure, because I used to use a Lenovo for WMR and I was able to play HentaiVR’s vids easily, like those ones where you’re Cloud in Aerith’s room with Tifa, but now it’s just chugging along at 5 fps on my Quest 2.
I suppose I could try the codec to see if it helps. Any idea which one I should grab? I’d appreciate whatever help comes.

The quest 2's advantage is price, The index for all it's fancy gubbins and features is a thousand dollar peice of shit, I have never seen such an expensive item require being sent back so much, and it took them an excessively long time to sell a cable seperately that was prone to slowly cutting itself ovver time because they designed it to get crushed by the headset.
Why is it so expensive? Not comparing it to oculus because they are probably selling at a loss to capture the metaverse or something. But the controllers are $280. They have a bit more too them than the steam controller, but I remember that being a normal price of $40-$60. Then there's the $150 base stations. What are they exactly? A camera with wireless communication? Also there was no attempt to be price competitive with the G2.
