Shredder's Revenge got close enough on the mechanical end of things, they just fricked up the meter economy. It's a shame since the core idea of keeping a combo on a dead enemy to build meter was good but everything around it dropped the ball and the enemy/boss design was mediocre. Great for co-op (especially if you can get 4+ people) but only worth two solo playthroughs maximum. Granted I didn't grab the roguelite DLC, so a third run with Usagi or Karai might be worth it.

Most visual novels do become interactive at some level, and the music, user input, and art direction make for an extremely engaging experience that's not achievable in a traditional paperback, while still offering the freedom to explore the same level of nuance and detail that a traditional book offers. IMO visual novels are the peak of video games from a design standpoint, and offer experiences as gripping as any gameplay centric title, and usually are executed far better than those games 60-80% of the time.

City Shrouded in Shadow wasn't really that. It was Disaster: Day of Crisis but you run away from tokusatsu villains/heroes or anime creatures. The overall story of the game is just you and your friend trying to escape all the disaster and the yakuza trying to kill you until it's revealed your friend is an ayy lmao. Most of the dialogue is just comedic choices (Picture related is the silliest).
Haven't played it, but I was thinking something more like Pajama Sam meets Desire. Click on stuff for your character's commentary, find items, and move around through the location advancing the plot with kino music and art/UI direction. And go full Higurashi/Umineko when Godzilla shows up, and make us feel every detail of what consequences his actions have.

Background props during Dino Thunder. Tommy was researching Sentai teams. Because they got lazy during Super Megaforce it caused them to use a bunch of footage from Gokaiger using Gokai Changes of non-PR rangers so they canonized a lot of old Sentai teams as "New Powers". Flashman were the Prism Rangers and I believe Maskman got its own PR comic.
Power Rangers "lore" must be such a clusterfrick at this point. Especially with all the IP fumbling they did. I remember Jason coming back for one episode recently and it was a big wet fart.

If it makes you feel any better, Chroma Squad is at best a 6/10 game. I hate saying that when the team clearly had a passion, and the game actually has a LOT of replay value if you wanted to go back to it in the first place, but it's just so middling in every aspect from mechanics to writing.
I'd say it's a 7/10 personally, but I agree that it does wear on you the longer you play. It also feels like getting the sixth is the worst way you can go and the Rider/Metal Hero route is better.

A decade ago, I wrote a fan-script for a PR adaptationnof Akibaranger. I even documented what footage I'd use and how I'd adapt it. It was adolescent cringe but I still think about the idea sometimes. I might write it as a non PR/Sentai affiliated comic or novel if I get the time.
We WILL get our loving and funny homage parody series of PR. Saban is dying. Hasbro don't give a frick and are going to sit on PR until they sell it to Toei or Bandai. Then I will strike.
The closest you'll get are the jokes in season 1 of MMPR where they're clearly making fun of the source material, before the show blew up.

everyone knows that. not all toku actors make it big or have good memories of those times. but compared to american toku actors? yeah. the Japanese actors have it better and theres more happy actors than in america.
some actors even manage to simply leave the business to focus on more normal tranquil careers, a big recent example is everyones favorite angry puffy gorilla Okada Ryutaro (Isamu Fuwa's actor, from Kamen Rider Zero One). so far nobody knows where he is now, hopefully he is living a fully fullfilling life at whatever job he is taking now. dude deserves it.
I think it's exaggerated a lot, the majority of former PR actors are still friends with each other and support each other's endeavors. Most of them just don't pursue acting after their time on the show since it's hard enough to get roles let alone getting typecast for working on a kids show.
