The strive to meet every demand of the rabid playerbase, but never asking anything back of them like learning to play their jobs, instead opting to streamline every playstyle while increasing the spectacle and making bosses even more scripted is gonna burn them out chasing higher play numbers that also leave at a moments notice when they run out of numbers to increase instead of a solidly made gameplay base with unique job abilites and giving each a chance to shine out in the world and in instances.
Shadowbringers is my least favorite expansion for what they did to Scholar.
bozja zone alone will give us way more to do in later stages of the expac especially if they have an alliance raid series attached to them like bozja did
that + a new limited job with a blue mage update + the two new jobs looking cool + the new thing they're cooking
they're forced to make it more interesting than most of the combat jobs by default, it's a limited job so it will at bare minimum do shit that's not likely or possible with the traditional ones
so far all they've said on it is that it'll have a collection element like blue mage but otherwise i'm keen on what it'll have to offer, i would think something like pankration from XI

I haven’t touched the game for over a year now. Did some of the first released savage endwalker raids then just decided to stop playing. Don’t know if I’ll come back. Rather just play OSRS.
I remember clearing Lakshmi on the first day of official release (after early access) on the first pull blind with the entire rest of the group being from Balmung. Unbelievably easy trial. The normal mode honestly felt harder.
I think it'll be reoriented more towards jumping but the dragon skills will still be a factor, that said I don't see Nidhogg skills surviving even if that's pretty much just Nastrond and Stardiver. Lots of focus in "pure" dragon skills, I caught that Coerthan Torment is a "pure" version of how Estinien uses Ala Morn

It's not cool though, most of the animation is offscreen and at least in it's design until now it's a weak attack. It only looks cool when a npc is using it within an encounter.

And you can't see then, it works when Nidhogg uses it against you because everyone is standing there looking up at it, when your character uses it you miss 90% of what is happening. I'm 100% fine if it gets removed (it won't) and I'd prefer if dragonfire gets deleted.

Are there any general rules of thumb one should know when playing a tank in regards to defensive cooldowns? Like, an order in which to use them? I've been using Rampart for the first pull and Reprisal for the second combined with Arm's Length, only unlocked Vengeance a level or two back.
just cycle through them. use them when you are done running. sprint is a tanking cooldown for pulling. if your healer is a white mage, they'll be stunning the pack for ~10 seconds at the start so sit on them till then
No specific order, just cycle through them. Rampart -> Whatever "light" cooldown you have (Bulwark, Camouflage + Aurora, etc) -> whatever "medium" cooldown you have, in whatever order you like, there's no strict rotation of defensive cooldowns you have to follow. Reprisal and Arm's Length use already puts you head and shoulders above a lot of tanks.
It only really matters when you're DRK because you'll both want to use TBN and have the shield break as often as possible. If your healer's a WHM either use TBN after they've exhausted the stun cooldown or see if they're holding off on using Holy until you've gotten a TBN break in. Or just ask I guess.
As a WHM i ignore the tank and commence Holy spam as soon as I spend my blood lilies if applicable. Anything else is incorrect since most packs are dead before the stun wears off

The problem with the dogshit netcode is that it limits fight design. Having everything be snapshot based makes having fast paced fights that require good reflexes impossible. The closest we've gotten to somethng like that is barbie ex and it's been 10years LOL.

its simply not what one should be looking for in the game. if you want fast inputs, i recommend shootan or rhythm, rather than trying to turn one genre into something its not and attempting to be the king of the kiddy pool

Yeah that shit sucks. Its definitely my fault for getting hit in that situation but getting used to dodging castbars instead of the actual attack feels like getting used to having ants in the house. It's far from ideal.

They needed to overhaul the entire engine like 8 years ago.
What's the point of anything if the game still feels feels laggy (don't pretend it isn't, I know some of you morons coped about the fallguys event) and the idea of a glamour catalogue and more bagspace get shut down with "the data couldn't handle it"
They're absolutely terrified of having to do data migrations, they don't seem to have the knowledgebase to pull those off after refactoring the entire backend.

When I played it years ago it was just World of Warcraft but less fun because of the global cooldown on everything and not letting you cast instants while moving or something. It was like a fake turn based game.
