Uuu, uuu! Maria thinks Umineko is similar! Doesn't have choices like Raging Loop... It's still a mystery, though! Uuu!
Episodes 7 and 8 are a letdown, but other than that it's a fun experience! Use Umineko Project, but be sure to use the Witch Hunt translation and not Umineko Project's butchered translation!
Be sure to take notes, too! Uuu!
>It's still a mystery, though! Uuu!
This is false. Genuinely do not go into Umineko expecting a mystery, the entire thing is a deconstruction of the genre, and frankly, none of the characters not named battler or Beatrice are compelling.
There's better ways to spend 100 fricking hours.
AND STOP SAYING UUU!

and another is asking a suspected autist if he enjoyed this piece of shit
It wasn't really bad until the last 2 dungeons, where strong enemies started teleporting all around you. I had to switch the difficulty to easy during the last chapter because I was too close to the end to drop it but I was also getting frustrated. The story and characters were nice, and I also liked the weird "survival/rpg/vn" hybrid and "die to get stronger" gimmick. The fricked up difficulty was so bad it ruined the experience for a lot of people.
>last zero escape game
Start with 999. Zero Escape REALLY isn't a series where you should play the games out of order (999, VLR, ZTD).
>puzzles filtered the shit
Honestly, I'd just try each room for 10 minutes, and if you can't beat them use a guide. I played VLR and ZTD before guides were even written about them. You won't miss much by using them.
>it got a manga
I swear there was another VN I liked that got a manga too recently.
>finally survives >becomes the biggest pain in the ass for the MC
fricking based
It was the worst possible fricking timing. Had he survived the first two go rounds he would've been a massive bro.
i tried the last zero escape game, the puzzles filtered the shit out of me
either im a brainlet or those games are TRASH
You started with ZTD? The third game in the series? Not to mention the worst one. No wonder moron, play 999 and VLR and never touch ZTD.
Was Zanki zero good? Remember being hyped but dropped after 2 hours.
It's kinda unique sadly. My suggestions are:
999
Virtue's last reward
Danganronpa 1-2
Zanki zero
Never played it because cucksoft censored it. The worst part was that was only the beginning. Setting up a NA branch was the worst decision that company made. It didn't stop at censoring their own shit, they're now censoring the SCI;ADV series too. Most recently removing the Seira alt outfit because they're too gay.
If you think RL is a masterpiece, you really need to play all of Uchikoshi's shit. I know most will recommend the Zero Escape series, but if you want more "kino" garbage endings, you really gotta play Ever17 and Remember 11. Likely bait, though.
>didnt get a cg of haruaki and haru dressed in black as criminals in the city at the end of her secret ending

guess this isn't an IMAGEboard for me anymore
that's why I looked forward to her sure, but her personality turned out to be way better than Chiemi or Rikako. She is smart and actually thinks about stuff. Kaori was okay in this respect too, but she doesn't get much focus and she is single mindedly thinking about her sons in all her appearances, and so she just doesn't get as much time to display it. Both Haru and Kaori are people wasted on that village, as opposed to Chiemi, Tae, and Rikako who are all simple-minded and exactly where they belong. I guess Kaori really isn't from there anyway.
Eh, the reason for everything happening in the first place isn't answered until later on, and you have to do some frickery to properly resolve everything.

It's clear early on that it's all just Silver Key frickery throughout. Raqio confirming that, yes, you do have to fill out every single character profile or the MacGuffin won't let you end the game doesn't change much.

Well, no, you don't know WHY you have it in the first place for quite some time, or how you started looping. Resolving that stuff requires more than just completionism.

Setsu literally gives it to you in the first 10 minutes and you loop right after.

No, you take a while before you get the loop where you first actually get it. You're just sort of dropped in things and Setsu explains.

She explains the whole setup in the first loop. The first loop ends with her giving you the Silver Key.

Isn't it you already have the key and Setsu just points it out and a later loop establishes how you got it from Setsu in the first place?

Oh, right, but doesn't the first loop have a bit more mystery on it because of what's going on in the first place, and we get more context behind Setsu later or something? The specifics escape me. Mostly I like Gnosia's characters moreso than its story.
The extra mode that allows you to see the pov of off screen characters as well as their inner thoughts is one of the coolest unlocks mes I’ve seen in a VN and it’s a shame I haven’t seen it anywhere else.
It is a great idea and would like to see more of it. How it was handled in RL was total shit. There were already too many people lusting after Haruaki, but having the all the extra shit being mostly the girls' thoughts about how much they love Haruaki was too fricking much, holy shit. I could just barely stomach the dumpster fire of an ending, but reading through the extra scenes completely repulsed me.
interesting stories, characters, settings, and alternative outcomes that could not be presented and executed with the same level of success in other mediums, at least in my opinion
They have unique stories, many with branching paths. It’s not something you can present well in an anime, manga etc and the budget needed to properly realize it as an actual video game makes it non viable there.
Almost always a complete package. You don’t need to pray that you get the full story years down the line in a sequel that may or may not happen.
Many have really good art and music.
Along with the art and music: the possibility for stories that aren't really possible in other fiction mediums. Anything with branching storylines is impossible in movies, and hard to pull off in books.
CYOA books do it, but those are fairly limited in length. They're often seen as "kid's literature". No one wants to make a serious CYOA book or one the size of a doorstop.
Fun fact: the "main" script of Raging Loop (not including extra scenarios) is around 353K words. That's longer than Don Quixote, Anna Karenina, or all 7 books of The Chronicles of Narnia. Steins;Gate, Ever17, and Katawa Shoujo are also all longer than those books too.
And the scripts of YU-NO, Clannad, Fruit of Grisaia, Umineko, and Fate/stay night are all longer than the Bible. Also they're great to do on my exercise bike, they keep me engaged but don't slow me down. I've played some for 2+ hours on it.
Good on you! It's a great way to stay entertained on it. I've lost 60+ pounds in 1.5 years by playing games on my bike and eating a bit better. (Kinda slow weight loss, but anything is better than nothing.)
Handhelds are my preference. I usually use my Vita, Switch, or 3DS (in that order). They have a pretty good selection, and I'd say most VNs are on at least one of them. If you're willing to set up CFW, a ton of them have been ported to the Vita.
But if a console or PC is in the vicinity and you have a wireless controller, you could use it. I often do that too - my PC is across the room, but I have an external monitor facing my bike. I got a Xbox controller and a Bluetooth remote / keyboard / mouse and made a script that toggles the video output when you press the power button on it.
I actually really loved this game someone recommended some dungeon crawler VN hybrid above is (zanki zero) above is it any good? I remember trying one like that on the switch and it was awful, something something high school was the name.
It's not a bad plot twist but the execution is lacking. You could keep the same twist while having him come up with actually satisfying answers instead of the nonsense we got that the extra material just slaps a bandaid on. He doesn't even try to come up with an explanation for why Chiemi melted. It's basically a clumsy attempt at one of Umineko's magic vs mystery logic battles. Also the entire plotline of the sheep girlfriend should have been cut from the game, as well as the black goat stuff.
>the sheep and his power was naturally a set up for a sequel sadly this never happened
The sheep wasn't the problem, the sheep being his girlfriend who he pretends to not recognise was terrible fricking writing that added nothing and bogged the game down with animu "secret church" bullshit and endless conversations about pudding. Just have the sheep be another God of the mountain or something and the third act becomes much more bearable.
Reminder that white haired girl canonically has hairy armpits and a smelly bush
That supposed to be a bad thing?
I enjoy that.
I don't remember that.
It's in the extra stories you unlock after finishing the game
That's hot

this
If the looping girl was Haru she would solve the game alone
the only reason you like her is because she is younger
Nope tard
her chemistry with Haruaki is increible and her seond personality made her a perfect Heroine for this detective.
Cmon imagine a sequel with her has Maya Fey?
PERFECT COMBINATION
part of the story
not a story where she won
that's why I looked forward to her sure, but her personality turned out to be way better than Chiemi or Rikako. She is smart and actually thinks about stuff. GNOSIA is high order kino.
Seinen setting. Main theme is "transhumanism". No cliché characters (no tsundere, etc).
It also lead to some great threads here in Ganker.
You forgot to mention that it also has no compelling mystery or story.
That may be your opinion, but I loved all the individual stories and the overall mystery/arch.
What's the "overall mystery" in your opinion?
What Gnosia are. Who you are. Why you suffer from amnesia. Why are there loops.
Well, we know why there's loops early on, unless you mean "how they got started".
All those questions are answered by the midgame.
Eh, the reason for everything happening in the first place isn't answered until later on, and you have to do some frickery to properly resolve everything.

Just Setsu heavily implying she's looping.
I'd SQ
having to loop back a million times dont see that fun tbhfamsan
It takes maybe a hundred-something loops to complete, and most go for like 5-10 minutes at most.
Do it for SQ!
Best bimbo.

So probably yes, though that list may well be outdated by now.

Don't you dare call VNs a "meme". Also don't tell me you're one of those VNs "aren't games" posters

Any opinions on 428?
Great game, had a lot of fun with it. Nice and funny characters and lots of ridiculous bad ends.
I dislike the SURVEILLANCE AND GAS answer.
Bros......
all the supernatural shit was real, MC's power is turning all the magic and supernatural into a logical solution.
so the things you dislike are just what MC created with his power
This.
It's a shame people don't read the extra stuff, because it's actually hilarious how his power works.
this power can actually produce a really KINO sequel since a monster must create a perfect crime without human solution to win against him.
It's not a bad plot twist but the execution is lacking. You could keep the same twist while having him come up with actually satisfying answers instead of the nonsense we got that the extra material just slaps a bandaid on.
