2, 3,and 5 really serve no purpose anymore. Like it's cool to play 3 and 5 for nostalgia, but yeah, 2 is a fricking bad game. 3 (only played ds version) is a worse but far, far harder version of 1. 5 is incredibly generic but has a fun job system. I would say all 3 are mainly the only games not worth playing at all unless you just want to play the series. And 13/15.

Well for starters you still get an item from a monster in a box so it's always worth checking chests.
Trap rooms on the other hand are a complete waste of time. The first few dungeons go so far as to only have trap rooms, basically teaching the player to not bother with them. It's only then do they start adding chests to those rooms, meaning if you take what the game throws at you a normal person would, you'd miss a bunch of shit.
I also never said anything about 1 being bad, I said that 2 is significantly worse
I've been playing X and it's boring me out of my mind, the voice acting is stiff as frick, the cutscenes outside of fmvs are terrible and the story is not very interesting, it's been extremely linear so far (up to djose) even by ff standards and it's making me wonder if it's worth it, I loved VII, IX and VI and I didn't like it as much but still finished XV.

1 is far too rudimentary to take seriously. It barely even has characters or a story. Its undiluted aesthetics are good as a retro time piece and the pixel remaster rearrangement of the soundtrack is pure unabashed kino, but beyond that it's nothing special.
