Honestly very few games get multiple endings right, most of the time they feel very samey/undercooked because the devs didn't put a lot of resources into them. It really comes down to presentation. That or putting in the effort to make it feel like the player's choices mattered, like New Vegas's slides (which isn't really suitable for something like SMT).
If you look at Elden Ring, people gravitate towards either the Ranni or the Frenzied Flame ending because the other endings are literally just sitting in a chair. Nocturne's endings are kinda similar, you have the Neutral and TDE endings that actually have unique cutscenes, and the Reasons are just standing on a beach while a character talks to you.

You know, you're right. I mean it doesn't matter how they flavour it, at the end of the day they're just different endings. The games are best when they're linear, but failing that each ending should be equal. Certain endings having the most content or including the "exclusive" content from the other endings sucks ass. Neutral in IV will forever burn my ass.

I didn't want to do tde but I think I've fricked up getting the freedom ending so I guess I have to.

playing this for the first time with the remaster on hard but I installed the qol mod for fun, is the game supposed to be ball bustingly hard? I spent like 5 hours rolling the rng against this motherfricker, and I'm like level 30 already. had to grind in the labyrinth and everything.

Hard mode is a slog. It triples shop prices so you're just forced to grind more.
I'd say play on normal and turn it to hard during bosses.
Nocturne bosses become way too easy at some point.
