That was already Dune II, son.
Personally, I think for a spiritual successor they should have made a different kind of setting. Like a post-nuclear ash waste with giant ahhhh burrowing spiders.
Somewhere along the line, developers forgot to make me care about their game world. Games like starcraft, warcraft and command & conquer had attractive people representing their factions. I could relate to their struggle.
These new strategy games just give me units, buildings and no exposition.
It's implausible to me that you can relate to attractive people, anon.
>attractive people
transmission of not-NOD gathering
>thank you General Chad, now brothers, our next objective will be described by our beloved member, miss Mio Kawasaki and her band!
>Ohio onii-chans! Death and Glory!

This is why I'm excited for the 2hu AOE4 clone.
>the 2hu AOE4 clone.
Say what?

Also, there's already an AOE2 clone out there by the same dev.
Where is the AOE3 clone?
3 is a hell of a game, copying it sounds like a doozy.
I don't think I have a download link for this one though.
If it's good then I'll try to become the best player in the world in that game. It's just that the dev's games have all been kind of low quality. It sucks. I want a Touhou RTS dammit.

>Games like starcraft, warcraft and command & conquer had attractive people representing their factions. I could relate to their struggle.
I feel you meant something more akin to charisma and memorability more than attractiveness.
Between the 3 examples you mentioned I can remember quite a good amount of memorable characters of each game, yet I can't remember a single memorable one in any RTS released as of late.
But honestly I really hope more RTSs to do this, it makes me feel more immersed in the game (and one of the reasons I still play C&C to this day).
More like
>somewhere along the line, developers forgot that what made these games so great was their innovation
What new things does this bring to the table? It's been over 20 years already.
Looks like boring indie shit
not really, i don't get why people like dune outside of "it's a neat setting", the only reason it's even big in video gaming is because it sort was chosen to feature in the games that kicked off RTS's as a genre
If it weren't for dune you wouldn't have harvesters vacuuming up resources, the mechanic might have been completely different
>red alert + dune
This is bait, right?
This board is zoomer central.
Didn't think zoomers were really big on RTS.
>People literally one year younger than me

checked. I'm not excited for anything, let alone some indie RTS.
I don't know what it would take to make me excited about an indie RTS. They always have the trifecta of RTS sins: boring balance, indistinct factions and bad campaigns (if they even have any)
Emperor Battle For Dune
Tlielaxu Leech
>giant Sand Snakes
At least ATTEMPT to be original.
So it's basically bootleg Dune 2000? No thanks.
